have a reputation for being immature and quick to take offense!
then you can find yourself invited to a jw wedding reception.
do you doubt this?
Once there was a music band made up of JW's here in Minnesota that played mainly at JW wedding receptions
We had a "band of brothers" here, too, except they played old Motown hits (they were pretty good). One wedding reception in the early 80's turned into a party! They served champagne. Brothers and sisters were singing and dancing to worldly songs and having a good time. Best time I ever had as a JW!
Needless to say, after that, champagne was not allowed at any more weddings.
There was also a ruckus about the song "Baby Come to Me" by James Ingram and Patty Austin. A line in the song says --"there's a special kind of magic in the air." Well, you can imagine how that went over with the elders, but the bride was insistent on having this song sung. They allowed it after the soloist agreed to say feeling instead of magic.

it was five or six years ago that it dawned on me... .
... the realization of what the world would be like if enough people finally figured out that there was no god.... no virtual santa claus that was checking on them (us) 24/7 and waiting at our life's end with blissful rewards or everlasting penalties.
i figured that if even a handful of people figured that out as i had, we'd be in deep doo-doo.. now... i don't care much for religion.
I can't help but think that if there *is* a god, it would be sorta nice if he kinda stepped up right about now... and did something. Anything.
I've been thinking the same thing the last few days, with the fear, I might add, that the hand of God or whoever would smite me for doubting him. Go figure!
Sherryl--confused about this whole God thing
i live in the south , very heavy bible belt.
there is a church on every corner.
they always have a sign out front with some very corny saying.
Saw this one last week:
Seven days without prayer makes one weak.
.
i was standing at a pedestrian crossing when a mother with child said`wait for the green man to appear'.. as a green man is a pagan fertility symbol, should jws use pedestrian crossings.. this needs tob send to brooklyn as fast as possible as anyone weak jw might b stumbled seeing a brother using a pc.
Would you rather they be hit by cars?

a crafter!
i have sequins glued to my forehead, paint on my legs, and various craft articles strewn about me.
i think i may have sewn some ribbion to my shorts...*spins in a circle to check*.
<raises hand>
Me too! I'm a crafter. Mostly floral arrangements and wreaths, tho.
I went to Wal-Mart last night and almost lost it...they've got those cinnamon scented pine cones all over the place...I can't wait for Xmas!
Lady Lee, can you teach me to sew?

40 for me!
i recently mentioned that my ex-wife cindy had lost her father in very unpleasant circumstances.
i spoke to her yesterday, and she gave me some information that i would like to share.
hopefully, i can garner some useful information here that i can pass on to her via an email link to this site.. cindy's aged father was a devout jw.
I'd just be concerned about the possible consequences of adding a deliberate religious attack to the grief of a father's passing.
Me too. Adding the religious angle could make her seem like a disgruntled XJW wanting to blame everyone for her father's passing, instead of accepting it as a terrible, terrible accident.
Sending condolensces.
