i couldn't help but notice how one of my jw friends always shows interest in some of the things we are involved with.
my husband is the leader of a boy's club at our church, we have study groups on books of the bible (using the bible only, no guides or other books), we donate gifts to children in our area and abroad, we support wycliff bible translators and personally have friends that are in remote areas of the world translating bibles into languages that are unknown to most of the world, we try to help in any area that we feel led by the lord.
i asked our jw friend why he doesn't approach his congregation or elders and ask if he could start an out-reach for kids.

(defense for the christian faith!).
wow!
he is a fraud!
Dan Brown is a novelist and the Da Vinci Code is FICTION!
am i the only one here who has non-jw and jw siblings who exclude you from "family" social events, but see nothing wrong with asking you to contribute a significant amount of money toward gifts for jw parents who instigate your exclusion from family social events?.
quite frankly, i'm pissed off about this most recent request and i'm planning on ignoring it.
why should i give $200 of my hard earned wages to people who won't permit me in their home or speak to me?
I guess every cloud has a silver lining. My family never talks to me, but they don't hit me up for money like they always used to either.

kuala lumpur, malaysia - a 33-year-old man in northern malaysia has married a 104-year-old woman, saying mutual respect and friendship had turned to love, a news report said tuesday.. it was muhamad noor che musa's first marriage and his wife's 21st, according to the star newspaper which cited a report in the malay-language harian metro tabloid.. muhamad, an ex-army serviceman said he found peace and a sense of belonging after meeting wook kundor, whom he said he initially sympathized with because she was childless, old and alone, the report said.. "i am not after her money, as she is poor," muhamad reportedly said.
"before meeting wook, i never stayed in one place for long.".
he said he hoped to help his new bride to master roman script while she taught him islamic religious knowledge.. the report did not say if any of wook's previous 20 husbands are still alive.. malaysian muslim men are allowed by their religion to take up to four wives at a time, but reports of women who marry more than once are rare.
I heard they had to get married.

i have no ax to grind, so to speak, but it would be nice to remember to click on an ad here once in awhile.
you don't have to buy anything.
I don't get why the Internet is so different from any other advertising medium. If you see an ad at a baseball stadium, on TV, in a newspaper, or in a magazine, it is just there. But on the Internet you have to click on it. It's the only place that I know of where ads are not just passive, but rather, an activity that you have to interact with.

the thread about bethel cable channels got me to thinking.
what kinds of shows would you expect to find in their tv listings?
here's some i came up with, and a few i didn't even have to change the title.
Thank you Bebu and White Waves. I had a lot of fun coming up with them.

don't tell me none of you watched this?????
it's a new hbo series on sundays at 10 pm.
it's about a mormon offshoot group, complete with a commune, child brides, and polygamy.
Bill's step-mothers (I guess that's what you would call them) referred to Condi Rice as "uppity." Gee, that sounds familiar. I remember the JWs making similar comments, thought they were more sexist than racial. They were often complaining about women not knowing their place.
Candidly, my dog Coco (see avatar, left) did not like that little "demon dog." She growled and jumped at the TV whenever that little terror was on screen.

found these geico commercials at youtube.
couldn't keep from laughing!

I like the sunglasses on the one caveman's head. That's a nice touch. Do you think the roast duck remark was a dig at the AFLACK commercials?
The other Geico commercial I loved was about the auditions for the Geico spokesperson and the gekko aced out the Taco Bell dog. My dog Coco (see avatar, left) loved that commercial and the one with the high-fiving squirrels who run out in the road to see if they can cause an accident.

Tonight's episode was so good. My favorite line was this one delivered by Nicki's mother (Mary Kay Place of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman):
We all owe up to our necks. We all spend like there's no tomorrow... which we were told there wouldn't be on three occasions.
I burst out laughing at this one! It was so spot on with the whole failed prophecy business.
And Bill's father (Bruce Dern) peeing in the kitchen sink was hilarious! I noticed he ragged on Lois about the hairdo with poodle remarks, but look who he ended up in bed with. He had Wanda so riled though she said she was ready to finish the job someone else started. Good thing this show isn't Perry Mason or she would have been arrested for his murder in the next scene.
And isn't Wendy a real suck up? She is nosy, but she instantly accepts anything Bill says to her.
Good luck to Joey and Wanda. I hope they make it, but I have a feeling that Wanda isn't going to be able to give up the Compound as easily as Joey.
