BTW, Dan, I couldn't agree more with your feelings on Steve Vai. He's like a robot; technically perfect, but devoid of emotion. Satriani is completely different.

Hubby and I had a Satch song as our first song at our wedding; it was "Always With Me, Always With You". :)

The sign saying "What Would You Like To Ask God?" doesn't do much to dial down the crazy.

I've only ever been back to KH property once, to return some magazines that someone left in my mailbox, with a note asking the local cong. not to leave literature for me again. That, and some nightmares I keep having.

Can an ex elder help me please
by orangefatcat ini have been reading the publication, "pay attention to yourself and to all the flock',
under the subject of the "proper view of disfellowshipped and disassociated persons.
unit 5 (a), it says, " the principle set forth in jesus' words, at matthew 10:34-38 has a bearing on situations involving disfellowshepped or disassociated relatives.

Hmmm. Tough call. I wanted to let you know, though, that I am sorry about your mom and about the dilemma you're finding yourself in. I think Scully's advice is good.
((HUGS)) You're in my thoughts.

Are you *really* into something?
by DanTheMan ingetting to know various personalities on this board, i get to feeling that a missing component in my life is to get *really* into something.. for instance, the board has our resident intellectuals and political debaters.
i am in awe of the broad scope of knowledge and seemingly instant recall of obscure facts that many on this board seem to have.
i consider myself to be fairly intelligent, but i am light years from being a true intellectual.

Currently, I am *really* into getting through the last 2.5 weeks of this pregnancy as comfortably as possible (LMAO Yeah, right!!!) and after that I'll be *really* into my new daughter, and my 4-year-old son. :)

lessons in love from the faithful and discreet
by galaxy7 ingod certainly realizes that carrying out his righteous laws about cutting off wrongdoers often involves and affects relatives.
as mentioned above, when an israelite wrongdoer was executed, no more family association was possible.
in fact, if a son was a drunkard and a glutton, his parents were to bring him before the judges, and if he was unrepentant, the parents were to share in the just executing of him, 'to clear away what is bad from the midst of israel.

Are You Dealing or Dwelling?
by pettygrudger indesib's arrival thread got me thinking (along with some kind words from special k).. when i first came here, i was so happy to see so many others with shared experiences and issues of the jw's, yet sad at the same time to know that there were so many.
i spent alot of time here in the beginning.
even though i had been out of the jw's for almost 16 years at the time, i found the time i was spending here i was "dwelling" or going back to my own painful experiences.

When I first came to the site, I had been away from the Borg (and really totally removed from it) for about 8 or 9 years (can't remember exactly when I started posting here). So a lot of the threads I read brought back memories of things I hadn't thought about in a loooooooong time; and lots of them were hilarious to look back on.
But now I only post sporadically; and sometimes I go weeks without even reading. It's counterproductive for me to keep rehashing the same things over and over again; and I am not interested in the board politics.
Any "dealing" I do is not a result of this board.

I'm just so proud of myself that I haven't even been inside a KH since October, 1993; and my last meeting was June/93. I'm past the ten year mark and I will never go back.
