Could Watchtower Collapse Be Sooner Than You Think?
by metatron inthere have been a number of developments over the past few months and they paint an interesting picture.. witnesses can keep dragging themselves to meetings ad infinitum however, the future of the watchtower itself is another story.
the evidence of continuing cash flow problems is now overwhelming.
if you talk to well placed witnesses, most won't deny it but simply blame it on the publishers financial problems.. they have cut off loans to congregations many of whom genuinely need new kingdom halls.

Welcome.
I feel that 607 is the most important thing you can look into as it is the basis of the religion. I think this is the easiest way to understand it. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/55372/1/586-587-the-K-I-S-S-approach-no-VAT4956-Ptolemy-Josephus-needed

How many here have worked in social work, etc. & DON'T think MJ was a molester?
by avishai ini mean, c'mon, people.
seriously, i admire those who want to think the best.
but the guy had just about every red flag/indicator you can have.

From some of the comments here, maybe we need to define exactly what a child molestor is. Would gently squeezing a child's shoulder so that it made him feel "not right" be considered molestation? Seems to me some here think so.
A child molestor is a person who has sexual intercourse with an invidual under the local law's age of sexual consent.
How about pedophile? That an adult who is sexually attracted to children. I'm not convinced MJ was either.
How about this? What if a person is mentally a child and has the desire to "play doctor" with another child?

Well said Donny, I agree with you. His reality is something normal persons could never understand.

40 Years (a Generation) Past 1874, That's All it Was!
by OnTheWayOut inhere's the real simple version of the complicated doctrine of when jesus supposedly returned and the last days arrived/ended/started.
william miller said that jesus' return would be in 1844.
(see the great disappointment at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/great_disappointment ) people who believed what he said were known as "millerites.

70 years = 607?
by allelsefails in70 years of captivity?.
i myself have always believed that when archaeology disagreed with the bible the bible must be right.
that is how i dismissed the idea that jerusalem was destroyed in 586/587 bce.

Thriller Movie "The Village" must be based on Jehovah's Witnesses!
by Witness 007 inm. shamalan's movie deals with a village of "amish" type people who are too scared to venture outside the village since their "elders' tell them the forrest is full of demons.
they refuse to be "part of the world" and all medical care.
it turns out the village is in a nature preserve in the 20th century but the elders had bad experiences in the world and made up the demons to scare the young villagers into never leaving!

When I heard about the movie and it's contents, I really wanted to see it. I rented it and my JW wife happened to have some JW friiends over the night we were going to watch it, so we all watched it together. I knew what the ending was but not how it arrived there. So I really enjoyed the movie but it made it even better as I watched the guests reactions.
When the creatures appeared they started making comments, like who recommended this movie, etc. Typical paranoid JW stuff. I just kept my mouth shut as I knew what was coming.
When it ended, I didn't say a word, and neither did they. But I'm sure they felt a little foolish with their comments.

Picture of Jesus in the KH
by startingover ina jw friend told me that a newly remodeled kh in the area has a big picture of jesus with his hand extended in the entrance.
since it's a picture that is from the publications many say it's ok. sounds really out of place to me.
it tells me the jw's are going mainstream..

I was born and raised a JW and the whole idea of this kind of picture at the entrance to a hall doesn't fit into what I was taught. Neither does the theme of the district convention recently - "Follow the Christ".
