Why are people so determined to be miserable?
by Sunchild inas i was reading through a few of yk's words of wisdom, i found myself wondering about that very question.
how often have you heard these statements given by christians in particular (and sorry to pick on you guys, but it's the easiest example):.
"when i get to heaven....".

Phantom Pain....
by Sunchild ini know i've been away for awhile (yeah, like that many people would notice *g*), but for the most part, i've been working on a site redesign.
if you're curious, you can see it at http://www.dreamsphere.net/ .
and for anyone aware of the reasons i went on hiatus in the first place, don't worry: i'm not mad at anyone.

Fascinating site: Secular Spirituality
by Sunchild ini ran across this site by accident last night.
if you're not too attached to the bible and are willing to keep an open mind, you might want to check it out: http://www.secularspirituality.org/index.html.
taken from the site's index page:.

Ah, the sweet taste of freedom!
by Sunchild intoday, i did a couple of things that i never would've or could've done had i remained a jw.
first of all, i spent the first half of my day being a promotional model for snapple.
my job: smiling, looking cute, and handing out free snapple drinks.

How do you define spirituality?
by Sunchild init's a general question for anyone, and it's a very personal one that requires personal answers.
i'm not asking what the bible says, what science says, what the dictionary says, or what your mother says.
i'm asking how you, as an individual with your own ideas, feelings and perceptions, conceptualize spirituality.

Science vs. Spirituality?
by Sunchild ini originally posed this question to jh in another thread, and now i'm wondering how other atheists -- especially the hardcore ones -- here would answer it.
this isn't about proving or disproving any particular viewpoint, but just an attempt to understand a mindset that seems... well... beyond my understanding.
<g> first, though, here are a couple of terms defined as used in the context of my inquiry.. science: the objective study of the natural world.. spirituality: an intangible aspect of nature/the universe (including humanity) that may or may not include belief in any deity, but which is merely a general sense that something more is out there, and also within us.

Choices we have, choices we make....
by Sunchild in"when you're older, you'll understand.".
"when you're older, you'll learn to see things my way.".
"when you're older, you'll be cynical and bitter.

Young, free, single and FRAZZLED!
by Sunchild incute parody titles aside..... i, rochelle, am finally moving out of my parents' house in a couple of weeks.
i've found a wonderful college senior with an apartment to share (and it's just a stone's throw from ann arbor, my favorite place in the world), and i'm in a bit of a tizzy figuring out what to do, what to pack, what to leave, what to sell, when to do what, all that fun stuff.. my question is, should i sell my jw books on e-bay?
would anybody buy them?
