One of the sentences in the article read:
"The building, formerly a residence hall for Jehovah’s Witnesses who worked for the society’s printing and distribution businesses, was bought by Boston-based Taurus Investment Holdings last week."
They hit the nail on the head by accurately describing the society as a PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION BUSINESS. There are letters to the editor that I sent in two comments on.

Oh, I think you're being way to harsh on these kind and compassionate JWs! I can think of three retarded adults that the Bros/ Sis' would pick up for meetings, count as return visits, and were counted as taking up a seat during every meeting. The seemed to "study" for years and years.
I think when it is convenient for a JW (especially a pioneer) to find another way to rack up those points (hours and studies) on their time slips, they will most certainly do so.
I raised an ADHD grandson with Asperger's Syndrome, who was actually quite bright.... but I was never approached by a brother to study with him, or even to go to other JWs homes for play dates. We happened to pass right by our elder-neighbor's home and saw all the kids at our bookstudy (he was conductor) out playing volleyball next to their pool. (They all had their bathing suits on) My grandson wondered why HE wasn't invited. I didn't know how to answer.
I left the WTS that October. Among many other things, it was just ONE MORE act of "lack of love" that cinched it for me.

Like I said before, we're imperfect people. We are headed by an imperfect society. So what, we screw up
Yawn.
"We" listen to WHATEVER the WTS is "currently teaching as TRUTH" and "we" expect everyone else to see them AS "the truth" no matter HOW many times they mess up and get it wrong....THEY be imperfect too.
Yeah...........right.
There will come a day when she will realize what a fool she has been. As of now, it wouldn't matter WHAT you proved or said to her. It wouldn't sink into her "imperfect" brain.
hugs,
Annie

2008 and still no Armagedon!!! I feel like I made an "Ass of myself"
by Witness 007 inyes sitting in pizza hut in 1991 a small band of pioneer brothers {me and friend's} debated when armagedon would come.
due to the "generations" doctrine, we calculated 2001 at the latest...then the doctrine was dropped!!!

(((((Witness 007))))
After devoting 30 years to the WTS, I too, feel like this. ALL the relatives I warned about the "big A", and all the magazines, brochures and tracts I handed out between 1969-1999......not to mention letters I wrote to friends and relatives not in my area....and here we are in nearly 2008 and the WTS is waffling again on this!
Yeah....we know how you feel....and we are all in the same boat! Just be thankful that you AWOKE! up to the fact that the WTS is a total fraud and you do not HAVE TO cling onto every word they print for "guidance" any more!

Annie

Undercover said:
Control, control, control.
We all remember particular albums and artists that were "banned" but in reality it wasn't that limited. It was much more broad. It is anything popular at the time. It doesn't matter what style, beat, lyrics...it's the fact that enjoying it and listening to it could cause us to enjoy other "worldy" entertainment or more.
The thing that gets to me now is that I not only had to listen to the WTS yakking about this stuff, but in the early 80"s I had a superfine pioneer teen daughter in the house, that made sure she opened HER mouth and offered unsolicited opinions and ANYTHING I did, played or listened to for years.
I was a huge C&W fan and MANY of the lyrics on Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty and Tanya Tucker's songs were more than questionable....but I never felt the urge to run out and commit fornication after playing my albums! I got so tired of her picking about everything, but with four other children in the house---I couldn't very well tell her to stuff it because what she was saying WAS "from the platform" and I couldn't enforce OTHER things they said and discount THAT (in front of them). I had to make it "look good" but it killed me inside to toss out so many albums that I really ENJOYED. Among many others, I still remember tossing the "Brick House" by the Commodores and everything by MJ after he was held up as "not a model JW" any more.
We had just had yet another talk on the evils of soap operas one time, and my daughter was supposed to be gone out in service for the day....so I put one favorite program on to see what I had missed since that "talk"---and didn't she come in (WITH her pioneer partner) to use the bathroom....and there was the program on full blast in the living room with me in the kitchen! The LOOK on her face would not have been any worse if she had caught me in the bedroom with some mystery man! She told me later on that she was SOOO disappointed with me....that she had gone back to the car and CRIED! (See what mindset I was up against?)
Every now and again I think about all those albums I threw away and wonder whatever was WRONG with me back then!

It would probably be a Kingdom Hall I have never been to and likely no one there would know me.
Frankly, I think it would be an excellent opportunity to bring him to one where the JWs KNOW you AND your status, so that he could get a REAL honest view of what the WTS does to anyone that leaves their cult. It would certainly give a more realistic insight into how their minds work and what they are really like.
Ih he isn't "interested" in becoming a JW, there would be no harm done, and would put them on their best behavior (?) when they would be very ambivalent about expressing them, one way or the other!

Annie

Somewhere, deep down, they HAVE TO realize that several "bible truths" have been changed, and these were things that they (we) all went out and taught OTHERS that were "bible" studies and people at the doors. There should come a point where they will see how stupid they look while telling everyone how only THEY have "truth" that then is always subject to change. It takes real courage to confront these things in the privacy of your own heart, and then deal with it.
