did anyone see mike musto last nite on greta van susteren?

my wife and i were wathching fox news and they were talking about martha stewart's debacle, and low and behold there is mike commenting on how she is going to have to go from 9 houses to 8. anyway did not know we had a celebrity among us.... you did good mike.

spider	Okay - I don't know who this celebrity Mike Musto is as I don't live in the US. I'm pretty sure though that the guy posting here isn't the real Mike Musto. Infact I'm sure I remember LDH saying it and she's always good with detecting imposters.

Name Your Funniest Experience Out In Service

this should be a fun thread.. one of the funniest things i can remember out in "service" .

was 2 other guys and myself in a car.

so we take turns going to the door alone.

OMG!!! These are experiences PRECIOUS!!!

Living in the upstate NY "snowbelt" and "Lake Effect Snow" from Lake Ontario, and we have sudden and strange storms here that will "hit" a small area and not "hit" a few roads away.Rural territories are the norm for this area. We had gotten an ice storm that coated the driveways with about 1/4" of glare ice, (not at MY house, so I had no idea) and as two brave undaunted JW sisters, we got out of the car to "test" the ice......

As we stood on the householder's VERY SLOPED driveway, gravity (or whatever) took it's toll, and STANDING up all the way DOWN the driveway with our service bags, we politely SLID right up to the porch steps.

After a quick "I'm not interested" we turned to go back to the car.......but gravity was NOT in our favor this time.....and it seemed an eternity (REALLY!) before we finished our "Bambi On Ice" routine and managed to climb back into that car!

Another weather-related experience was when five of us sisters got about ten feet into a driveway (again on a steep slope) and the car got stuck---but GOOD! (In the meantime one of my daughters and a partner had trudged down to the house and put magazines in the door)

All the usual methods didn't get us free, and after about 1/2 hour of struggling, one sister (we're ALL in skirts-pantyhose-etc, and freezing by this time) plodded back down to the house to get a shovel that we could see by the garage and brought it back up to try and shovel us out of this mess........and then...the householders RETURNED (we're completely blocking their driveway so THEY couldn't get in) and had to get US out so they could get home.....We all wanted to die right there......

I DID have the unique experience of approaching an older man painting a fence in his side yard....only to have him WAVE that paintbrush at me and told me to GET OUT!!! I did.

One of the last times I went out in service before I defected, it was extremely hot and humid, and after we had left the door and headed for the car----the lawn sprinklers went on full blast, totally drenching us and our bookbags......(but it felt SOOOO GOOD!!! LOL!)

Tell me what you did on the doors?

me and my pioneer partner used to play a game while going door to door (we were obviously bored).

in our rural territory, we had a lot of time between doors to make things up, so various games evolved.

just about the naughtiest was to give your partner a word which they had to use at all costs in their presentation.. this started out as 'kingdom' and 'jesus' but soon became 'tractor', 'dog' and then even 'honda 250' and so on.

I thought I had myself under SOME kind of control (people are SLEEPING here-lol) and that mental picture of your Sis falling on that elderly woman------and the following events-----like something out of Monty Python!!!! I was wiping my eyes and snorting, trying to keep it in :o) SO funny!

After decades of tiresome "tacking" and obeying orders from the ship "Jehovah", the tugboat "Apostate" released her towing line, and left the "Jehovah" to drift aimlessly in the Bermuda Triangle.

To eliminate the long lines at the Sister's rest rooms, Brother Sharp lovingly ordered the extra toilets so that the sisters wouldn't have to miss so much of the lifesaving information being given in the main auditorium.......

Assigned to a remote Caribbean Island, two unnamed Brothers are following local custom where (only) the guests sit on the floor and drink wine while the householders relate their childhood experiences.

The rarely seen ultra-ultra-secret WTS publication issued only to Branch Overseers who have been loyal for more than 25 years. Clear and precise directions are given on keeping the "real truth" about the organization hidden from recruits, and three chapters are devoted to "how to explain New Light" and make it sound plausible, and more.

When the bible said to "ponder these things and be absorbed in them", I don't think it meant to have several "lessons" from several "publications" each week, and to be expected to read everything from cover to cover that a publishing company churns out as "the latest from God's Mouth"........

i rarely receive any negative e-mail, but i did receive a rather interesting e-mail within the last 48 hours.. .

then that person told me that a ms who was allegedly "on the fringes" was guided by him/her to this board and happened to see me use a rather colorful, but made-up metaphor, namely "dipf***.

" the dub was horrified and scared away never to return because of that and also because of what he saw on some other debate another well-known poster was engaged with.

The VERY first "door" I ever did, I was SO nervous, I said, "WE'RE one of Jehovah's Witnesses" and I could have DIED of embarrassment!

Not that it left an impression, but I can still recall the house, the porch and my first "back call" (tm) in Springfield MA, 1971! (placed the 2 mags!)

An old man's childish small-scale rebellion

i was a socialist / communist and a hippie before turning a witness, always looking out for chances to disrupt the harmony and tranquility, for putting sand in the machinery of the authorities.

was a "liberal" elder for 24 years, always thinking people's intentions and attempts were the main thing, not looking for faults or shortcomings.

but it always amused me when i could tell the co-elders they had handled things not in accordance with procedures, as i was very good at remembering things and loved it when i was able to point to incorrect dealings from the side of the "hardliners".. anyway, i resigned as an elder after 24 years half a year ago, in protest, after having written many and long letters and made sure my action was read and received by many; the issue was the extent of one's contact with disfellowshipped children, where i was not in agreement with official policy.

No, actually it's quite the contrary! It's got to be a hell-of-alot harder to be an active participant (going to all those meetings knowing what you do) and continue to put up a "believable front" while you go about "business-as-usual" at the KH!

Interesting concept--but personally, I couldn't do it!

Each one has to do what his heart and conscience dictates.

I could still feel residual "panic" feelings wash over me as I read your post! I "knew" somewhere in the back of my mind what "move" I was supposed to make, but damn, didn't I always have that flicker of doubt dance all over me when I was at an event with my nonJW hubby, but knew there might be JWs in attendance! I HATED that uncomfortable feeling of do I/don't I and felt SO frustrated!!!!

Consequently I became one of "those" who went for refreshments or to the "LADIES" when I anticipated the National Anthem would soon be played. (Here I thought I was SO clever!) Sometimes I was a bit premature in my guesswork, and spent a LOT of time waiting..........

SO GREAT TO BE FREE OF ALL THAT NOW!!!!!!!!
