Staying a Christian Upon Leaving
by serotonin_wraith inso you found out the jehovah's witness religion/cult was bogus.
congratulations, it's a step in the right direction.
now all you have to do is escape the cult of christianity.. while other christian groups are (perhaps arguably) less controlling (on the whole), the foundation christianity rests on is bogus too.

I was getting ready to reply to your post directed at me.....until I glanced over and saw your age. I remember how I thought I had it "all figured out and popped into a nutshell" at age 25.....and nobody could tell ME anything either. As you grow older, you begin to discover just how much you didn't know that you thought you had such a handle on.
I will let you "be", thinking what you will.....and trust that while living your life, that MANY things will come as quite a surprise to you. I do wish you the best.

A lovely thought but I have all but given up on trying to post any pictures here. Valis had to submit my avatar for me when I first came here and I have tired and tried to follow the directions to post my face on this forum.
I am afraid that I will have to be content with getting a candle and lighting it here where I sit, and let i that be it for now......

I now feel a part of the whole universe, closer to God and I see all religions as a means of worship and since there are a variety of peoples on this earth, there are a variety of religions and customs to suit each persons desires. Therefore, nobody should insult, condemn or criticize what another person believes. If they want to worship Buddah, if they want to practice Wicca, if they want to be a Born Again Christian or be a JW...let 'em. Whatever floats their boat!
Since leaving the judgmental and superior-to-all attitude taught by the WTS, I have come to feel more "at one" with fellow human beings. I can appreciate each one on their own merit and for their own contributions in my life and to the world in general. It is refreshing to NOT be so tightly bound in man-made rules and polices and to finally recognize the freedom in Christ that was before me all along.
I am no longer restricted to choosing friends that are "ONLY other JWs" and methodically discounting all the rest simply because they do not worship the way some delusional old men in Brooklyn demand we should. Casting off THAT confining cloak has actually helped me (allowed me) to be a more compassionate and tolerant person that I can live much more comfortably with now.
I do not feel that belonging to any "group" will assure you of peace and contentment, let alone that of salvation. I happened to choose Christianity. I have come to see that one's "religion" is purely on a one-on-one basis with developing a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, and has nothing to do with any denomination or with what ever sign hangs over the door to a place of worship. These "buildings" are merely for ones of like faiths to congregate together and has no bearing ON this personal bond I have mentioned.
It ALL comes down to one's behavior and one's personal accountability before the One you choose to worship. Simply put---in the end...it is all between you....and God.

Wife vented tonight!
by 5thGeneration inmy babe (wife's approved nickname) finally vented today because it was her birthday, which we couldn't acknowledge, and she feels really emotional that she never had a chance at a real career, may have wasted her life, etc.... she may be coming around a bit but now this is really uncharted territory!.
ironically i'm getting through to her but it's scaring the bajeebers out of me now!

GOPHER SAID: Any change is stressful, even good ones, for a while. But it gets better.
How very true!
I was so alone when I first began to let myself admit what I was seeing was proof that the WTS was NOT "the truth" and I had indeed, given my life up to devotion and subservience to man! I didn't tell ANYONE as there was no one I COULD share this "new light" with. I sat on this gnawing pain in my gut for many months until I had enough evidence in my heart that I KNEW I had a huge decision to make on all this. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. It was terrible.
It is good that as she begins to emerge from the WTS-induced coma, that SHE has "a someone" in her corner to catch her as she falls and prop her back up again! Let her go at her own pace and her own way, just be there for support and understanding.

We all wanted to know the real truth. Unfortunately, many here still don't see the real truth. The reality of our universe is still beyond the sight of Christians and people of other religions. You have not truly escaped at all.
It would have been nice if you threw in a bit of substantiating evidence in your (thus far) opinion of Christianity or any other religion. What do YOU FEEL the "real truth" is, that you claim we do not see?

ELDER FINALLY VISITED MY DAD.....
by Mary inwell, over two weeks after my father nearly died thanks to this bone-head cult, he and mom finally got a visit from one of the elders.
i had left work early the other day as my mom had asked me to pick a few things up for them.
so i pull up in their driveway and notice a few people in a car and figured it was the witlesses and sure enough it was.

That is disgusting.....yet oh so common in Dubdumb Land. When my father had his stroke early last year, I think he got one visit from the PO when he was in the hospital for over a month. The guy in the room with him was a Catholic and his priest was by 3 - 4 times a week to see him. This upset dad greatly----the idea that a member of "Babylon the Great" was getting more care and concern from his demonized priest, than what he was getting from God's Chosen Ones at the Kingdumb Hell.
When I had my first major surgery, nobody around here would touch the no-blood business, so I had to search for a surgeon that would "take" JWs. I found one up by the Canadian border and hubby brought me up there and had to return to care for our five kids. I was in a room where a Catholic woman had the same frequent visits by her priest and I had NO ONE because I didn't know anybody from that area at all.
I had asked the nurse to see if she could call a Kingdom Hall on the off-chance I could get a visit from anyone after the Book study....(I was scared and lonely) and she called. One elder and his wife stopped by the next evening but that was all. The priest ended up feeling sorry for me and asked if he could ask a quick blessing for me, and he made the sign of the cross and said a couple of words....which was a couple MORE than the elder said "for" me !
I am pleased to hear your Dad is feeling better, and your posts have made me smile! I could just picture the whole thing so easily, tea cups perched on their knees, munching on YOUR cookies, and nodding and talking excitedly about ALL that same old-same old "encouraging and upbuilding" nonsense that they have been clinging to for DECADES! (Lookit lookit---pull the string and the JW spouts the appropriate WTS nonsense!)
Take care...

Annie
