If Christians are 1/3 of the world's population....
by joelbear in.
then why do we have homeless people, millions starving, millions others living in poverty.
seems like a mighty ineffective 2 billion believers.

The Chinese torturing cats and dogs by the millions
by greendawn init is strange that in this day and age a country like china with a tradition of civilisation going back to ancient times treats cats and dogs as if they are nothing.
it's not just that they eat them or kill them for their fur but the cruel inhumane way in which the kill them, believing that if they die a painful death their meat will be more tasty.
not to mention that often they skin them alive as they don't care to wait until they die.

On the farm here we have a severe feral cat problem, and we raise holstien steers for beef.
Last year I did a lot of on-line "research" with the thought of marketing my feral cats to the Mung who live in EauClaire, WI.
It appears that in the Mung culture, and possibly most Asian cultures, torture is used ON PURPOSE, to flood the animals' meat with stress hormones before death! The higher level of adrenalan, cortoslol, ect., they think the beter the meat is.
Not for my feral cats!!! If/when we ever have to leave the farm and can no longer feed them I will hire a couple of 'sharpshooters' from the rifle club that is a half mile down the road.
Just ask any deer hunter which meat has a milder taste and is more tender; big clue...it's the deer that was dropped right where it was standing rather than the one that was just wounded and had to be tracked.

This may be my last postÂ…so goodbye and thanks
by seven006 ini never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.
when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.

Never be sure of anything...
by Willow Tree inisnt it amazing how life can totally turn around and you end up in a place you swore you would never be in?
5 years ago, i was "happily" brainwashed, unaware of the deceptions.
i always thought that the jw's were right and everything against them was lies from satan.

Our dog died. :(
by Mulan inour 15 year old dog died this afternoon..............with assistance from a veterinarian friend of rachel's (princess).
she was old, sick, and with multiple health issues.
it was a really hard decision, but the vet really helped ease my mind, by assuring me it was time.

Mulan, my condolence on your loss of beloved Jenny.
So nice that your veterinarian came to your home. Ours has too, and that particular kindness means so much at that sad time.
My forum signature on a couple of Lab boards is: "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." Unknown (but I strongly suspect this was said by Mark Twain)
Pets leave 'pawprints' on our hearts forever.

by PoppyR inhi everyone, totally new here.

i have always been considered a rebel...brought up in a family by a single parent, my two brothers are both elders, the younger being a regular pioneer, my sister a regular pioneer and serving in a foreign language congregation.

Hello (((Poppy))), and welcome.I would like to emphasize 'bythesea's' suggestion that you read the two books written by Raymond Franz.
The first is CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE "The sturggle between loyalty to God and loyalty to one's religion. A penetrating view of a relition's supreme council and their dramatic power over human lives. by Raymond Franz, former member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses."
The second is IN SEARCH OF CHRISTIAN FREEDOM "The issues raised and options discussed herein, although relating particularly to the structure of Jehovah's Witnesses, are not so very different from issues other Christians have faced and continue to face when they seek to reconcile considrations of conscience, loyalty, responsibility and freedom."
Possibly find them in your Public Library, or they can be ordered from http://www.commentarypress.com
From my own experience, I am sure, at your point in life, that they will help you a great deal.
