So true about them JW's. My mom the same way.
The truth can never be hurt by a lie,

a couple of years ago we took our youngest to see sooty.
anyone from the uk will instantly know who i mean sooty is a little glove-puppet bear (?
) who never speaks but has managed to turn himself, over the last 50 years or so, into a british national institution.. sooty has a couple of friends sweep the dog (always my favourite) and soo and various others who appear in his show.

Hello, nice to meet you.
The truth can never be hurt by a lie,
but a lie can be exposed by the truth.
i always got stuck going w/my dad to jw building events and for a while i thought it was a drag to have to work all weekend for free, until i started to realize there were lots of chicks running around that i could have fun with.
that and assemblies.
i can probably attribute that newfound fascination with jw girls from different cities as one of the biggest contributions to my eventual liberation.
Oh how I remember the "hard hat" hair. With me though I usually kept my hair tied back in french brades or something simular.
I remember this one hall build, actually it was a remodeling project. I thought those was harder, and more work. It was towards the latter part of the project, and we did not have to wear any head procective gear. This brother I was working with asked me to come up and work with him on the scaffeling. So I started to head up this wobbley thing. The higher up I got, the more it shook. So I told him, no way. I'll do anything else. Ok, so into the attic I went. I don't remember exactly what I was doing, but it had to do with running conduet and wires. It seem like I was up there forever. It was very hot and very sticky. Well this day I did not tie up my hair, after I got done my hair looked like "LION'S MANE". Thats no joke either.

i have to wonder if the society's leadership ever considers how.
disfellowshipping can turn against them.. i doubt, when they developed the idea of a person "disassociating.
I forgot one other thing on how the shunning thing back fires.
Many JW's have relatives who are not JW's. Take my aunt for example. She was the very first one to ever have contact (study) with the JW's. There was some things that kinda bothered her and so she stopped the study and never became one. That was back in the 1970's. When my husband and I DA ourselves, our JW relatives tried till they was blue in the face to excuse their shunning practice. She and her immediate family compared it to the Nazis. Her mom, my grand ma had told us that she wanted to talk to my husband (her grandson) To make a long story short, grand ma told us we had no business calling her, and not to ever call her again. So we told the aunt. All these years my aunt was going to the memorial with her mom to the KH. Guess what, after grandma told us to buzz off, my aunt said that she don't want to have any thing to do with the JW's ever again, and she refuses to ever go to the memorial ever again.
So yes, the shunning practice does BACKFIRE big time. Could you just picture how many are like my aunt.
1. argue with a six year old.. ever had a deep discussion with a six year old (or someone with a three year old's mentality)?
ever heard two six year old's arguing?.
typically it turns to name calling and "i know you are but what am i" exchanges fairly rapidly.. would we walk up to a 6 year old or a mentally challenged adult and engage in one of these ridiculous, non-productive and demoralizing exchanges?.
This post reminds me of a commercial that is on tv. Setting: mom and dad sitting with the teacher. They are talking about the child's problem. Then the parents start acting like kids them selves-like sticking out their tounge.
well, you have to admit it most da letters are boring.
especially so are the ones that contain 15-20 pages full of quotes from the golden age of march 15th 1917, or an obscure reference to a slip of the pen made by some overworked and knackered out member of writing.. lets be honest, most xjw's do not read past the first few paragraphs, but we all expect our letters will be read by the wts or its representatives, analysed and then responded to.
the reality is that they are rapidly scanned for 'juicy bits' and dumped into a bin marked, 'oh, god not another one!..
I guess they would have read my letter, it was only 2 lines long. I thought about wrighting a LONG one, but I figgure that if I don't like reading long borning drawn out letter, neither does any one else.

Yea I remember those days, except I was looking at the guys. My first hall build experance was when my own congeration built a new KH. I noticed quite a few good looking guys that was at them. One of the elders in my congeration asked me if I wanted to work with the building crew. WOW. I jumped at the chance. He happen to be an electrican, so that was how I got involved with the electrical department of the building projects. And the best part of working in THAT departent was I had to be there from the very beginning to the very end of the project. When ever security was keeping people out of an area, I was allowed in. SO COOL I remember this one brother that I worked with at every project -we started at the same time. He was very tall, very hansome, and single, just a dream boat. He was not the one I married. I worked with other very HOT brothers, some married, some not. I would have to say that was some of my best memories of being a JW. If you are wondering, that is how I met my husband. But I did work with the crew for nearly 4 years.

One thing that I have noticed with shunning is this. A person who is either disfelloshiped or dissocated, and his parents who are still active JW's. And the child is not living at home.
1. A parent refuses to shun their adult child. They help them in what ever they need. From incouragement, finical, or what ever. That child 9 times out of 10 will as you say, "Return to the fold" and become a JW once again.
2. A parent does what they are told and shuns their adult child. Treat them like they are dead, so to speak. They say, "We are shunning you so you will see the error of your ways and come back." In that case it is a very slim chance that person will ever go back. They are more in likely to commit kill themselves, go off the deep end, or just be really PISSED OFF. That is unless they can find some type of support group being that of former fellow JW's, friends, or other relatives. In that case I don't know of any who do return in this case it would probley be 1 out of 100.
