So not visiting is bad; visiting is equally bad; visiting is also bad since nothing of interest is shared; visiting and sharing something of interest is equally bad because it is either spying or brainwashing you back; discussing whether to visit you or not is bad; not discussing whether to visit you or not is equally bad; reminds me of a brother who was angry when I greeted him on the street because he said I only greeted because I was trying to spy on him and find out what false feelings he had and then report them to others, and who was equally angry when I did not greet him on the street because then I was being haughty. It ain't easy when you are hated because you do something and hated because you do nothing.

What if the elders dont come see you at all?
by knight ini was looking at the post of,another member here and he stated how he hates when the elders come to harass his wife for not coming to the meetings,but what if they never come?
my wife has been missing from the meetings for almost a year now due to illness,and i have been missing the meetings dueto my relocating after the 9/11 attacks we get a phone call once every 2 months from one elder,and thats about it.we got a shepherding call only out of fear of what the circuit overseer might say to them for not seeing us.what to do?

2/3 of all JW's are women and what it implies
by Mindchild ina few weeks back, kinsman posted a link about a recent survey of religion in america which showed that 68% of all jehovah's witnesses were female, which is the highest ratio of women to men in any religion in the usa.. i believe the reason for this unbalance in adherents in favor of women comes down to two fundamental reasons.
the first is shunning and the second is the appeal of the "family type atmosphere" that the witnesses pretend to offer.. we all know the power of shunning keeps a lot of people trapped inside the collective, and just due to the fact that women are enculturated more with having emotional bonds with others, makes it a bit tougher to leave family and friends behind.
this doesn't mean that men don't suffer emotionally, but the general trend is more for men to suppress their feelings and damn the emotional torpedoes and go full speed ahead out of the bad dream.. this suggests to me, that if there is a major modification of the shunning policy, the largest exodus will be in the female ranks.

Are you talking about the USA, so that the heading should have read that 2/3 of all US Witnesses are females, or are you simply, as do most US people, assuming that US = The World? -

UN effect?
by radar inaccording to watchtower theology, when a person is difellowshipped he as been cast outside the kingdom to suffer the second death, eternal destruction.. one would hope then, that with such a prospect, congregations would be very carefull, in passing judgements in that direction.. yet, the watchtower actually boasts about its great ability to expell thousands of witnesses each year, by publishing the figures in their magazines, as a sort of warning to others.. the watchtower must be the only organization in the world that i know of, that expells tens of thousands of its faithfull adherents each year.. many loyal witnesses have been expelled from their organization, simply over things like blood, neutrality issues or simply raising questions about watchtower doctrine.. i expect the un issue, will be the next cause for further disfellowshipping action.. .

There still is a "common European link" in spite of these North-South differences; I remember seeing some young Spanish sisters dressed VERY grey and decent going from door to door, and here I was halting my car, in my shorts and The Doors' T-shirt and my four-days old beard being on vacation, and we got along extremely well over a lunch to which I invited them.
To me, there is so much "interest" from the US posters as to what has this or that GB member said or done, or DO, or CO - I don't think many care about them here. I have a feeling from reading the postings, that in general we are more individuals and not so tuned into what Brooklyn people say or think or feel. -

But you feel that a US program would have impact on the whole world growth? You don't feel that you are over-estimating the US importance on world affairs, do you?
Bush's words that one is either with the US or with the "terrorists", met with heads shaking with disbelief over here. People are so sick and tired of US cowboys, that honestly, a US program with have no impact at all. -

Assemby Halls for Profit?
by Jim Dee ini've just come back from the weekend snooze (know to others as the circuit assembly hall in bristol).. the local congregations paid a fortune for the assembly hall to be built.
it was a major build with purchase of land and construction costing a fortune - and paid for by voluntary donations.
however our po has informed me that the circuit was charged 4,300 for the weekend assembly!

There is no free flow of cash coming from a never-ending unknown source, so the district paid, yes, but had to loan from the branch office, so the 4.300£ week-end costs add up to the annual pay-back to the Society.
