Why Was YOUR Meeting Cancelled?
by Funchback indo you have any odd or unusual reasons why the elder's decided to cancel one of your meetings?.
i don't know if this is necessarily unusual but our hall lost power one cold day.
the meeting was cancelled.

We only canceled when there was snow and ice on the roads.

Discussion With My Dad...Ended Badly.
by Valis insome of you may know that my parents were expected for "dinner" on thanksgiving day.
well i really don't think its going to happen now.
i called my dad last night becuase my mother, now visiting my kids in south texas and bringing them here to see me, said they had "stuff to do on thursday".

Valis, I struggled with my parents like that for years before they died! It's like going up against a brick wall! I'm sorry buddy! I know it's tough! If you lived closer, you'd have to come eat a turkey with me and CC!
Give it time. I'd like to be able to tell you that you may have changed their mind, but I can't, but what I can say is, that they probably feel bad about this too! They really don't realize what they're doing, if you think about it! They are so brainwashed, they can't even see reason. They just don't get it!
Hang in there!
Santa's coming soon!!!

Holidays and former JW's
by Granny Linda intwo threads in one sitting...i'd best get busy with housework or something.... i'm relaxing and enjoying conversation about the holidays when i had to remember this is a site for former jw's, or mostly anyhow.
last holiday season someone reminded me that not everyone has family to enjoy this time of year with, and it made me sad.
sorta like those bitter-sweet times that life sometimes gives us.

Granny, yes the holidays can be tough on all of us! I've learned to take what I've got and be thankful for that. Just love and appreciate the family and friends that you have! Enjoy life, ya know, stuff like that!

How DO you do it?
by alfie inthis is not a question to get too personal, but how do so many of you find the time to post so much?
i have trouble finding time to read a few posts, let alone respond to or begin as many as so many of you folks do.

Heck, I'll admit it! I'm addicted to this place! Can't help it, got too many buddies in here and it's very healing for me to have this support system.
When I can't go to someone in this world around me, I can travel to the cyber world and you're always here!

How long are people remembered?
by joelbear in.
unless you are famous for something how long are you really remembered?.
maybe you are remembered at most by your grandchildren, but then your presence in the universe is gone.. so, really, what difference does it make whether you die in your 40's or your 70's, your memory simply lingers another 30 years at most.

It will get eaiser darlin! I use to get so mad, but I realized that it's hard for them too. They really believe what they are doing is right. I never done it. I grew up in the org, but I never felt it was right. A friend of mine that was having a lot of problems was d.f.ed. She would sit in the back of the hall and no one would acknowledge her. Everytime I saw her, I would wink, smile and say hi and squeeze her arm. If I see someone that I care about, I'm going to at least acknowledge them. I wasn't going to let that rule change who I was. Now when I see my j.w. family, I smile, say hi and hug their neck. I rarely see them, but when I do, I'm not going to let their rules change who I am. To me, I just handle it better if I have that kind of attitude with my situation.
Hang in there!

Mulan, great dream!
Gosh, I hope you don't hate me over being ugly in that last post on the other thread. I feel bad about getting all heated up. I think I'll stay off that subject!
I hope you don't think I'm this mean ol person that's hateful. I'm not really that kind of person. I just let my emotions get away with me on that thread!
I'm sorry about that!
