Pettygrudger, I have been off since December 13 and returned to work today. It's OK to be back, but beware, that means I have to start thinking again - lol

Today Sucks!
by pettygrudger inafter 16 beautiful days off with my children, sleeping in late, actually making family breakfest and all the other wonderfully "mommy" things to do without rushing - i'm back at work (bluck!!!!
) and the kids are back to school so the rushing begins again.
regardless of how people feel about christmas, i find that 2 week period of time my highlight of the entire year.

Did you ever get put on the spot?
by Soledad inby that i mean from the platform at the kingdumb hall?
i remember some study conductors who had the habit of calling on people in the audience that seemed distracted or unprepared--on purpose so as to embarass them.
some were so out of it when the mic was handed to them they had to ask what was the question, why did you call on me i didnt have my hand up, etc.

Only people with small families could sit on the back rows? I thought that area was reserved for the people they disfellowshipped. What a control freak elder. I knew an elder who used to correct everyone who said "Revelations" instead of "Revelation" during the WT study. I made sure I only used the singular!

Do the loving elders hate you?
by JH indo you have the impression that the elders never liked you, and were happy to see you leave, because they simply didn't like your way of thinking?
maybe if you came back, they would do everything to get you disfellowshipped again.

I always thought the elders put up w/me because my parents were so beloved by the congregation. They thought the moon of my dad (still do) and really haven't bothered me since I left the WT. I spoke my mind a lot and caused some friction. Boy I wish I had caused more...

Your funeral -- if not in a church, then what?
by Gopher ini don't mean to sound morbid, but we're all mortal.
just as we are wise if we plan for our financial future, we are also wise if we plan for our demise (timely or otherwise), so that our relatives know our wishes and are not burdened with difficult decisions in the case a fatal event befalls us.
so for those of us who are currently unchurched -- we all know that if you wish to "tie the knot" you can quite easily get a "justice of the peace" to perform a wedding.

It's amazing to me that more people don't choose cremation. It's so much cheaper than a regular funeral. Funerals cost thousands of dollars, although I can understand why loved ones want a viewing of their loved one. It helps with closure, seeing the loved one at rest. I say cremation and then have some sort of service for me, although for once, I won't be around to dictate to make sure everything goes my way - lol.
