I didn't take the test. Exams scare me and too many details confuse me.
I prefer to just look at your new improved avatar.
Glad you are coping.

Just when you think you are getting better...
by Princess Daisy Boo ini have been thinking that i am over it - i am ok - i am not angry anymore, but after a conversation with one of my best friends today, well i am not sure.... my husband comes from an anglican/catholic background.
we, however, as a couple are not religious at all and have never tried to take our kids to church or sunday school etc.
i sometimes feel that we should be giving them some attempt at a christian education, but i cannot bring myself to go to a church.

I am not over it.
WE never get over the experiences that we live through. All we can hope for is to accept them and move on using the lessons learned to avoid further mistakes. The process goes on all our lives. In the end we realise that none of it matters anyway.
Pain fades as time passes except for the occasional days when an old wound plays up.

So many great remarks from the guys here.
I really have nothing to add to Flipper's comments. Very astute for a dolphin - almost human.
A hard act to follow.

Welcome to the board.
There are not many people here who have not been JWs. Dating a JW seldom works for outsiders, unless they join the religion.

I Am Civilian Employee of the Month!!!
by snowbird ini was notified of this 15 minutes ago.. my boss found out that i have an eidetic memory, and is quite impressed that i can tell him who has paid fines, when, and how much.
he's a mess!.
i get a plaque, a reservation for the end-of-year banquet, and - if we had such a thing - parking space #1. the best he can do is a space right alongside the highway!

Well done Sylvia.
Impressed as I am by your ability - the ability to forget is sometimes a blessing.

If someone values you they will usually offer as a gift something they value. It is subjective to their values but the gesture is a sign of great affection and concern for your well-being.
You must treasure your gift and the friendship of your friend.

How much of the Damage do you hide here?
by KW13 inits true many of you, myself included come here and express how we feel, but do you ever disguise how damaged an individual you are, even in real life?
sometimes i wonder (aside from here) whether people really can grasp what it means to have grown up in a world that means nothing now and isnt even relevant.

Life probably damages most people in the long run but leaving the Watchtower Society adds to the other knocks we take in life. Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses who have lost their religion and their family are bound to be affected in some way.
This experience has made me more reclusive than I used to be. I am aware that I was more outgoing and open before. Now I am careful not to place too much value on people, to avoid being hurt again.
It is defensive behaviour and often follows depression. I recognise it in many people on this board who will relate to what I have expresses. Trust is hard for people to come by, when they have been so badly treated,

Tolerating Intolerance
by hamilcarr inus jehovah's witness are reported to be least tolerant toward other beliefs and homosexuality.
muslims score much better.. some on this board have argued we should stand up to intolerant religions.. how far should we go in tolerating the intolerance, without becoming intolerant ourselves?.
or is intolerance part of the diversity that every modern civilzation needs?.
-

I guess we stop tolerating when tolerance becomes appeasement.
But who is to decide when that point had been reached?

sleep deprivation.
by iamthewolf5562 indoes anyone here have or have had a problem sleeping at night?.
you can take a wild guess as to what i may have to attribute to this.... .
when i try to sleep ar night.... mind thinks and wanders to all sorts of terrible things that could be happening to me at anytime.

Often it is words that keep us awake.
If you can watch thoughts passing through your mind and avoid attaching words to them, you will be deeply relaxed and sleep will often follow.
The minute you convert feelings and images into words sleep becomes impossible. Cats don't have this problem - they never learned to talk!
