  i've noticed as of late that quite a few people are posting "good bye" threads.... why?.

  sometimes people have disagreements or arguments, but does that mean they can't remain friends or talk?.

  hell, if i left my wife every time we had an argument, we wouldn't have stayed married through our honeymoon!

  I rarely start threads myself because I am too boring for words. If asked whether I really made the comment quoted at the start of this thread, I will reply yesidid.

  There is nothing I can add to what has been said, except I can feel a fresh breeze blowing through the board.

  Voideater. As always I think you have been very reasoned and fair in your comments.

  I admire you for staying around and taking the trouble to explain how you see things instead of joining others in trashing the board.

  there is a training program in the c.i.a.

  and f.b.i.. you tell an interrogator 3 things about yourself.

  one them has to be a lie.. if they can tell which statement is the lie, you flunk.. .

  Well Simon - assuming you do have this skill (I wouldn't imagine you would joke about that anyway) That narrows it down to two.

  I have thrown rocks and bottles at a police riot squad.

  I have had a drink with one of the Oasis brothers (Noel)

  Of the two I'm not sure which is the worse!

  I can do a kind of hand-sign language for communicating with deaf-blind people.

  I have thrown rocks and bottles at a police riot squad.

  Hand sign language will not work too well with blind people so I guess it is a lie or they did not hear you.

  i've been reading a few pages of threads from saturday until today and i can't understand why some,(actually very few) try to damage this site.

  this is one of a handful of (ex)jw sites that really helps people get out of the organization.

  the interaction that we have here shows anyone how we can leave the so- called "truth" and enjoy life!

  seen some real "different" threads here lately, out of body experiences, near death experiences, ext.

  and it got me thinking that we have a lot of people here that have a lot of unusaul skills and talents that arent typically talked about.

  in light of this, i want to talk to someone that has real power to foretell the future.

  Keeping a balance mind when you are going through difficult times can be difficult. Allowing your mind and decisions to be influenced by people claiming to have psychic powers can tip that balance.

  The future can be what you want it to be. It is not preordained it is yours to choose.

  Freedom from choice?

  just a few reflections as i announced on blueblades' thread about 'the commands to love and free will'.. what is freedom?.

  i think it is practically impossible to give an absolute (= timeless, or contextless) answer to such a question.

  there is both continuity and difference in the use (hence meaning) of notions like "freedom" (or "liberty") from one language, culture, civilisation, period of history, to another.... we can, to an extent, provide contextually defined answers -- and those will be mostly negative: to the ancient world "freedom" would have been construed as the opposite of slavery, or captivity, or foreign rule (for instance).

  An interesting post Narkissos

  We live in a world that seems to become increasingly complicated and offer more and more choices. Many people would like a simpler life and long to return to a time when they had less choice and therefore more freedom.

  We also have more laws and regulations than ever before which we are told are there to protect our freedom. People are starting to ask if we are losing our freedom because of the very regulation that is supposed to protect our freedom. Governments are increasingly trying to control our thoughts and speech through political correctness.

  We are more and more dependent on being part of an expanding consumer led economy and are no longer free to live independently and freely of this system.

  Perhaps in the words of the Kris Kristofferson song,' Freedom's just another word for nothing left to loose.'

  Or perhaps the only true freedom is death.

  Parents with JW Adult Children Shunning Them - How Are You Coping ?

  i do understand your plight - as i have 2 adult jw daughters shunning me aged 21 and almost 20. they married witness boys 2 years ago and it's been 1 year since i've spoke with my younger daughter, 5 months since i went to coffee with my older daughter.

  i call them, but they won't return my calls.

  i tell them i love them, but it's as if i don't exist.
