What's your basic attitude?
by seattleniceguy ini think that if i had to describe my basic attitude toward life, the universe, and everything in one sentence, it would be this:.
generally, and on reflection, life is better today than it was yesterday.. very anti-thetical to the wt view of things, i know.

Does Anyone Else Ever Encounter This???
by ohiocowboy ini have been in a relationship for about 2-1/2 years now, and it seems that every time we have an argument or disagreement, it usually turns out to be my fault according to the other person, and my upbringing as a jw is always brought into the light, and also my depressive moods, this person knowing background of my exit from the org.
and the feelings it has caused me.
it feels as though they are using this as a "scapegoat", because even if that person comes home in a bad mood, or has to do something that they don't like, and an argument insues, i automatically am made the "bad guy", even though i was previously in a good mood before things started, and am reminded by this person how i must not be taking my antidepressants, or am thinking too much about my past, etc.

Its always my fault, but its not because of my JW backgroung. That should never be used against you in an arguement. Its like telling a recovering alcoholic "Thats because you used to be a drunk" in an argument. Not called for.
Its always my fault cuz I'm the guy.

Speed Limits
by Abaddon ini had to drive about 600km (370 miles) to hamburg and back again yesterday on business.. for those of you that don't know, large parts of the german network of autobahns (freeways) have no speed limit.. of course, those who say german's don't have a sense of humour won't have though in detail about having a network of two-lane dual carriageways with no speed limit.
a very funny idea.. it was still a pretty good average speed (about 135km/h, 83mph) for the part of the journey in germany, and we , but as i got up to 220km/h (135mph) at various points and cruised over 160km/h (100mph) a lot, if they'd been a third lane it would have been a lot higher.
one side effect is once you are back down to normal highway speeds (120km/h) it feels like you're doing 50k/mh.

I don't think there is a conspiracy. They can make cars that top out at 65. They make governers that cap a car's speed. Problem is, Nobody will buy those cars. People want fast cars, just like they want SUVs. Most people won't go 4x4ing in their 4x4 SUVs, but they feel great being able to. Same goes with speed.
Speed limits are for public safety. Sure they build revenu, but only from violators. The faster you go the more dangerous and deadlier the accident is. And the way CA drivers are, i'm glad there is a speed limit. But it does suck that some officers are racist and pull people over for a DWB.

A visit with my mom.....suggestions?
by desib77 inmy hubby and i had my mom over last sat.
and overall she was pretty good with the exception of the magazines she left at the very end.. now she has called and asked if we can get together, just us, for cokes on friday while i'm in town.
now, i know that she is going to witness to me and ask me if i love jehovah and tell me that if i do i should obey his commands.......and so on....and i will probably leave her feeling worthless.. i don't want to miss out on spending time with her because i really love my mother....but on the other hand i don't want to leave her depressed.... any suggestions?

If your discussions about religion usually end in an argument, then remind her of that and ask her please do not want to talk about something that will probably end in an argument.

if she brings it up, just ask her to just enjoy each other's time and not get bogged down with religion. You love her and want to spend time with her.

You could come up behind her and grab her butt and bite her earlobe and say "Mmmmm" in her ear....

How far can I trust my JW parents?
by Atilla inmy parents know how i feel about the whole religion and they now know that i will never come back.
there is a somewhat cordial existance at this point but i feel this won't last for long.

Some other suggestions:
Help her with the dishes every once in a while.
Sort the laundry for her.
Defrost dinner before she cooks it.
Brush your teeth and shave before getting 'intimate'
Little things like this go a long way.
<Puts on flame resistant clothing>
In case you didn't notice, I'm being sarcastic.

mmmmmm....Nipples.......
And crank addicts have missing teeth, stay up all night, steal stuff from you and sleep on the couch all day during down time. Don't contribute to rent or bills, buy a new car under your sister's name, play darts all day in the garage after laying carpet in there....
Oh, sorry....
