My wife and I had the same issue. We didn’t want to push it too fast and be cut off from the grandparents. Too slow and the kids are confused by the inconsistency from year to year. It’s a very tough decision. We stayed in limbo too long to be truthful. We had no more witness friends for the kids but didn’t allow them the freedom to have worldly friends. They were taught b-day’s and such were bad but we didn’t have any good reasons. We are now fully out and our girls are doing great, We worried the most for our oldest since the other 2 were so young. Our oldest is now 14 and is the most self-college driven kid I’ve ever seen. Full support for that.

Is a slow fade being selfish when you have kids?
by dissonance_resolved inso i got some great advice to take things very slowly with the husband and kids in order to be able to fade and still maintain contact with my parents and siblings.
but today i got a call from my son's teacher that he was having a meltdown because he was worried about all his friends and teachers being destroyed at armageddon.... first i felt like such a schmuck for ever having allowed that thought to enter my son's head, then i thought, is it psychological torture for me not to immediately correct the situation?
i had a long talk with him about how god is perfectly just and full of love and he didn't have to worry about that at all, but it still seemed lukewarm.

Will the Watchtower Society benefit from the looming financial collapse?
by redvip2000 inif you have your eyes and ears open and can put 2 and 2 together, you have like many of us, have figured out that there is an impending financial collapse in the united states.
the type of financial collapse that likely has never been seen.. whether you believe this is being done intentionally by global power hungry groups bent on bringing us to our knees, in order to push their agenda, or whether it is being done out of carelessness and stupidity is hardly relevant at this point.. the writing is on the wall.
experts (and all who want to) can see it , high level officials expect it, and are already implementing the contingencies that are needed in order handle the civil unrest that will ensue.

I don’t think a financial collapse is coming. In the last 6 months I’ve seen construction projects that were put on the shelf 6 years ago break ground and start up again. These aren’t small or fed/state jobs. I’m seeing $200 million private funded 40 story jobs that have 90% bank funding prior to construction. This is a good sign of economic recovery.

Stay Alive Til 2020
by FrankWTower ini've been playing around with wt statistics recently, helped by the great data available on jwfacts.com.
i wanted to share somehting with the community, maybe you've seen something like this before.. continuing the trend of decline seen during the last 30 years, i was able to extrapolate the year when wt growth might finally end.
if trends continue, we may only have to wait about 8 more years, 9 years to see it reported if the wt decides to report it at all, to see publisher growth end and possibly reverse.. the graph shows the annual growth rate of average publishers during the last 31 years.

When I was forced to go I’d get a Spanish bible and follow along every time a scripture was read. 5 hours of meetings a week and you really start to pick it up. 20 years and a little rosetta stone and I still have a pretty good grasp of the language. You can use the time to learn a foreign language and your parents will think you’re finally coming around. Not much has changed for me. I’m now sitting at work listening to Italian getting ready for my 20 th anniversary Italy trip.

but i ask, why did the men that were annointed not immediately appointed as an elder, and then a circuit overseer and so on up the ranks.
it would seem to me, that if god saw them fit to rule in heaven.

A good friend of mine claimed to be anointed. Great guy but one f’d up family. He always supported all his kids no matter what they did so they wouldn’t allow him to get privileges He could talk the elders in circles using the bible so they avoided having any meaningful discussions with him. The elders would just discredit him and say he was a liar.
