I had these thoughts as a teen sitting in the KH but thought there was something wrong with my thinking.

Coincidence?
by Blttex insince i started actually reading the bible about three years ago i have found the similarities between the pharisees and the society to be amazing.
tell me your thoughts on this example or others you've come across.
(acts 4:13-20) when they saw the courage of peter and john and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with jesus.

I had bypass 8 years ago. Lost 150 lbs. It is a long term life. Recomendation, do not eat too much, makes you ill, avoid carbs that causes dumping syndrome, (diarreah & or vomiting), stay away from carbinated drinks makes you ill and puts weight back on. Stay away from refined sugar it makes you sick. Sometimes one bite too many can cause you to be very sick. If you start on sugar or soft drinks they become addictive all over again. Any questions I will try to answer for you. Gma-tired2

Could this be accurate?
by NeverKnew inis the information on this webpage* regarding the socioeconomic conditions of jws a fair connection to the all too familiar wts quote of 1969?
does the report's statistics appear to be plausible given your personal observations?
*even though many others have copied and pasted the article (including the individual who created the page hyperlinked above), i'm apprehensive about doing so for copyright reasons.

Those is high school in 1969 are in their late 50s and early 60s and those who were just out of teens are in mid 60's all of us are near or in our senior years, our children are now middle age and now many of these in 69 just aren't prepared for our senior years. Also we are now finding out how much of our paents money has been donated to WTBTS, my mother in law is 86 and donatd so much She is livig on very minimum ss. She married in 1971 to an Elder who retired in his 50's with a small pension who used her inheritance to support serving the WT and making large donations. His gone and she is struggleing.

I knew sisters in the cong. that didn't make a decision before asking an elder. Sad to add many of these sisters were married to non-belivers. Knowing one of these sisters very well and also her husband it wasn't always a harmonious household.

if the rapture started now?
by fakesmile insince the majority would be "left behind", i wonder.
clearly the hard workers who neglected "spiritual things" to persue a career in the science field or just working with the hands will be of the many left.
what would this world be like if all fundies just dissappeared.

Also a born-in never knew what the Rapture was and I'm still not clear who believes it. Lois yes us born-in were naive didn't know difference between sexual and religious matters. We must have amused a lot of people.

How would you feel if your coworkers pooled in on Powerball lottery tickets and won, and you didn't participate?
by Theocratic Sedition ini just recieved an email stating that the folks here won $8.00 over the weekend.
so they're going to use the money to procure more tickets and i believe the jackpot is up to like $260 million or some other crazy figure.
i never participate and i absolutely enjoy watching them waste their money on tickets with a smug haughtiness that only an active jw can muster.

Sharing in lottery tickets was one of the first form my rebellion came. I didnt want to be left out. Our total wins--zero

Are we all bitter?
by LouBelle ini posted a link on fb that lead to a topic here.
i then had one of my 'friends' start having a go about how bitter everyone is here....fact he said.
(he used to be a jw elder but left a while back, not sure why he left or if he has even researched the faith since leaving) the more i tried to reason with him that actually it is a support forum, the more he lashed out that everyone here bad mouths the jw's and only attack the jw's.

Yes i believe we are all or at least most are bitter. With myself it has different levels of bitterness and anger. The last few weeks it has become worse due to the WT sttand on shunning. It is bringing out the agressive part of my passive-aggresive personality. I have already use Matt. 18 on one family member over shunning and I upset her so much she has lost what little was left of her humanity (ran to confess to her elders) Another family member is looking for reasons she must call but I hear her thinking she is suppose to shun my family it is said because this is something my family has always refused to di in our family. If she does choose to shun me Inprobally will let go on her too. YES I AM BITTER.

So sorry shunning is anything but it is not loving. It is not even loving to those doing the shunning. They have to bury all natural feeling for everyone to be able to follow thru with it. i belive JW leaders have a lot to answer for before God. I believe they will have to answer for the blood on their hands.

I need some advice please!!! I'm torn on what to do.
by Gojira_101 inthis morning i woke up thinking about a friend of mine, i will call her sara...here's some of the back story.. we grew up together and have always been good friends, even though we wouldn't stay in touch, we would just pick up where we left off.
sara has always been different, and i never really knew what it was growing up, but i didn't care, she was my friend.
so we lost touch for many years and then about 4 yrs ago when i went back to my home town, we reconnected.
