A $3000 franchise fee. Without that there would not be a deficit. But that fee is the whole purpose of the assembly.

This Weekends SAD Not So Special
by piztjw inso after being at this weekend's snooze fest i thought the following pretty well summed it all up:.
if it feels good, looks good, sounds good, tastes good, smells good, or is even moderately enjoyable it is from satan!
and if you feel it, look at it, listen to it, taste it, smell it, or even remotely enjoy it you are going to die at armagedon.. if you are too busy, too stressed, or barely able to make financial ends meet, you must pray more, study more, go out door knocking more, and give more money to the organization.. if you are a brother and you have been snubbed, slighted, ignored, bullied, and otherwise passed over for any "advancement" in spite of "reaching out", it is your fault!

by The Searcher inweird!.

"First, I want to say that though it may seem very strange, the way that our memorial was conducted tonight was "Governing Body approved" as my husband put it and our brothers followed instructions very closely."
Does that make a difference? The GB's approval makes everything all right?

10 good reasons why celebrating birthdays should be allowed
by bluecanary ini cannot take credit for any of the gems below but i did want to polish and organize them.
much of the information was borrowed from this thread.
if you can come up with any more, please post them.. the bible does not ban birthdays.

I don't understand why people celebrate them. What's the point? What is the accomplishment?
You survived another year?

Why did Jesus tell the convict on the cross next to his, that he would be joining him in Heaven TODAY??
by Faithful Witness inmaybe a silly question, but i'm curious about this part of the story of christ's crucifixion, when the 1 thief challenges jesus to save himself and "us too" from their deaths, but the 2nd thief rebukes him and pleads with jesus... .
luke 23:42-43: and he said unto jesus, lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
and jesus said unto him, verily i say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.. .

No, Jesus was just dead when he expired. Nothing to do with reading a Watchtower or punctuation.

"Since Jesus took this guy with him to heaven immediately, would he be considered "annointed" and qualified to sit as a judge with Christ, even though he was a criminal who "deserved" the death penalty?"
I missed this part of the OPs comment. Jesus did not go to heaven immediately. He was dead. If he went to heaven immediately, then why was he resurrected on Sunday?
If people would even think, they would understand things.

How many here (believers) believe in the Hell fire doctrine and why??
by jam init's obvious the bible is very clear on a actual hell of fire.
"cursed into the eternal fire with the devil and his angels", rev.20:15.
"lake of fire", rev.21:8 "fire and brimstone".
-

Jam posted scriptures, but they are not of hell. The lake of fire is not hell since hell gets thrown into the lake of fire.
Basing one's beliefs off of scripture is bad.
Why do people focus on Hitler? did he acturally kill anyone? throw anyone into a furnace? He just gave orders. People could have ignored them or shot Hitler.

Blood transfusion refused by parents of a 6 month old!!
by outforever inthis was in the paper wednesday - in south africa - durban.
which is quite surprising as our papers usually do not carry stories like this.. this is a prem baby - now 6 months.
the dr's had to obtain a high court order to allow the procedure.. the baby had to have a blood transfusion as it could not absorb the mother's milk and supplements cannot be used because of his tiny body.. the parents refused to give their consent and was on life support so the dr submitted to the court that this was an infringement on the.

So they are baptizing babies now? That is the only way that a 6 month old would be bound by God's law.

"What more evidence do you need?"
Evidence that it happens to everyone and not to just relatives of people.
The problem I have with this is: People died in the hospital and are brought back. They report that they see themselves and/or family. How can they see? They are lying on a table. Oh, it's their spirit. How can spirits see? Do they have retinas that absorb the visible light spectrum, and then that light gets converted to electrical signals to get transferred to a processing center and then those pictures are compared to memories. Do spirits have memories? Where are they stored?
Why is it always seeing or communicating with relatives? Why hasn't anyone seen Elvis or Abe Lincoln or others in history?
How can this kid report that he saw his grandfather at a young age when he would not know what he looks like?
How could Colton explains how he saw Mary, Samson, Peter, John, etc in Heaven, when he does not know what they look like?

Jesus was dead for the rest of that day, then Saturday, until Sunday morning. Jesus was not in any paradise.
Thus he could not tell anyone "today you will be with me in paradise"
KJV and its derivitives mess it up.
Villagegirl, what is your point?
Jesus was dead later that day. Why do people bank on words? As if words mean something.

Can anyone explain God's wisdom in anything?
Wisdom would be self evident and not need any explaining.
