soon jehovah's witnesses will begin their annual ritual of inviting members of the public to participate with them in the rejection of the emblems representing the body and blood of the sacrificial "lamb of god," jesus christ.. the justification they offer for this bizarre practice is that only those who anticipate heavenly life should partake of these emblems.
since the vast majority of jehovah's witnesses believe their future is earthbound, most of the attendees at the memorial pass the wine and unleavened bread along without so much as a sip or a nibble, and the emcee of the event makes every effort to discourage participation by the unworthy.. witnesses say that the new testament is a message intended, not for mankind in general, but specifically for those spirit-begotten future heaven dwellers.
if that is the case, then jesus' admonition to "keep doing this in remembrance of me" is also directed at the anointed, not at the general hoi polloi who aspire to a terrestrial eternity.. like most of jehovah's witnesses, i reject the emblems, but i reject them because i'm an atheist, and i doubt that the biblical sacrificial jesus really existed.. i find that it is much more convenient for me to reject the emblems from the comfort of my sofa while watching the parables of fellow atheist seth macfarlane as revealed by the cartoon show family guy on my tv.. paradoxically enough, i can do this while consuming a pizza and a nice chianti, and i don't have to worry about who else has spread their germs on the cup i'm drinking from.. .
Heeeyyy ... go and do your own homework Mickey Mouse .. sheesh!
I respectfully suggest you start with an exploration of who and what Rutherford's jail companions were.
Or maybe just join your nearest satanic coven

I'm probably wrong but one reason I'm suspicous of the Watchtower canibal feast is the way each person present is required to personally reject the bread and the wine. The servants have strict instructions to make sure everyone from about ten years old up passes the plate by hand.
i have alots of firewood at my backyard, the pest control tech tells me that i need to elevate the firewood above the ground to avoid termites.
i am trying to think what to do?
do you have any suggestions?
Hi asilentone,
The simplest solution is probably to just place a termite barrier on the ground and stack the wood on it (thick rubber is good).
Then cover it with a plastic tarp. A better solution is a dedicated woodshed or leanto against an existing structure.
Or if it's ironbark, you could just leave it there and take your chances :/
have you ever participated in the national census?.
what kind of questions do they ask?.
what changes in questions do you think we'll be in for this time?.
I let him know it was a crime to lie on Census forms.
It most certainly is not.
Where is the Corpus Delicti?
What's that, ninja's code name?
unc who don't eat corpses delicti or not!

Hi Mary,
you can take this thread's key point in reverse and accept the emblems from the comfort and privacy of your home if you want lol .. um not sure how you'd feel about that. I knew an Elder who was quite ill and got disfellowshipped for having his own 'reject the body and blood' ceremony at home.
geez going to Babylon the Great for sucor this easter .. they luring you in with chocolate biscuites and cups of tea I bet.
goodluck this memorial Mary. I hope friends and family just respect you for who you are.
this is a spin-off from the thread about bill maher's omission of jws from his film, "religulous" that shamus100 started.. i cannot recall ever seeing the jw misology accurately portrayed in the media.
most recently there was the premiere episode of us tv series "lie to me" in which the supposed jw kid said that he was praying for the souls of some people.
at that point i changed the channel.
Hi slimboyfat, I think it's his younger brother Benny.

Seriously though, i don't think the various mainstream media's representation of Jehovah's Witnesses is as influential as people think. Sure people are annoyed that JW's knock on their door but they're not seen as any kind of threat. They're just taken as deluded by amiable idiots. Bible thumping, God bothering weirdos that don't warrant more than a wry smile or (rare) rude jesture. It's not until you mention the destruction of families and abuse of children that ears start to prick up and people become concerned.
i do not believe at all in the existence of the supernatural, etc.
i was a roman catholic in early childhood and catholicism is deeply rooted in my culture and community.
my happiest childhood memories are from that time, when life was normal and our family was not torn apart by jwism.

What have you got against masturbation? Not that i'm admitting that it is that;)

Reminds me of the scarey thought "all love is self love." Gawd I hate philosophers
Interesting point about the Cathederal builders satanus. They really knew how to create an awe inspiring space.
Words and religion just ruin such places for those of us in touch with our inner 'God.'
So we sneek in when the congregation isn't there.

Hi Scarred for life,
Sorry for calling you georgia.
I'm posting from a new mini-laptop and not used to the small screen yet (that and old age conspiring against me).
I think the Truth Book came out in 1968 but don't quote me.
cheers, unc.
My father died in 1975 so his Harm-ageddon came on time, Mum's still waiting.
i am inspired to start this topic because of something i stumbled across in an answer to parakeet on another thread.. he has some deruta majolica.
this is the heraldy crest for the deruta family.
it has a very exotic looking watchtower as its central theme.. i believe i have seen in a photograph somewhere, a similar one that actually exists.. i wonder what sinister meanings lurk behind the concept of watchtowers.. there has to be something very evil here since one of the most vile religions i know of has named its foundation after this structure.. let's see what we come up with.. .
Hey cameo-d, this is a respectable site. Please don't post stolen images
I love that Afghanistani tower.
In the tarot, the tower symbolises a cycle of crash burn and rebuild.

Too bad they don't have a question about what religion you are--so I can answer something to the effect that I believe that God is an infinitely wicked Being, and that Satan and Jesus are both would-be saviors that attempted to set us free from God's Tyranny. And hopefully, half the people working for the census would see it and realize the same thing.
Here in Australia they do now and in the 2006 census thousands nominated Jedi
