i continue to be saddened by the fact that i am married to such a selfish man.. i want to know if i am the only wife who has no say when it comes to using the house she lives in for activities including other people.. .
let me explain.. yesterday my daugher who is 35 got a new puppy for my grandaughter who is 13. today my daughter and son in law are going to help my uncle at a job, and my granddaughter wanted to spend the day here, my daugher said shed bring her and the puppy over, i laughed and said 'your dad wont have that, ill have to go to your house'.. after all it will 'upset' the 2 cats they will hide all day [like they do anytime someone including my grandchild is in my home] .. i already knew that he would not like it if she brought the puppy over, [weve had dogs so its not like he hates them].
he doesnt care if his grandaughter would have enjoyed playing with the puppy over grandmas house, where she likes to be for a change, and that fact that id like to see what my cats would do when they saw a dog for the first time in thier lives.. maybe id have liked to play with the puppy .. when i said to my husband that my daughter said she wanted tp bring them over he said.
I too was married to an alcoholic for about 10 years. its no way to live. It takes some planning and help to get out but you can start over.
Ensure you have a separate bank account that you put money into on a regular basis that he can't touch before you decide to leave.
Keep your head up and work towards leaving him because I guarantee you he is not going to change. Even if he does go for help he is facing a lifetime of recovery and there will be times that he "falls off the wagon".

She was talking about how great the convention was and that she got to meet people from other countries and gave some JW gifts to other kids.
I wish i knew how to wake her up (she's 11 right now). She will miss on so much when she grows up if she decides to start shunning her dad and I once she turns 18.

My stepdaughter says she will never shun her dad and tell people "they don't know my dad" so how can they say to shun him. It sounded like someone delivered a talk to the congregation while we were in our custody battle that said if your parent is DF'd you can still associate with them, which is true until they are 18.
Not sure if we should just come right out and point to the material they publish to show that this is what will be expected of her but that we hope that she won't do that.
She knows her dad and I are no longer JWs althought I'm not DF'd and that we don't agree with their teachings but that is as far as we have discussed anything with her because she gets quiet upset if you say anything that goes against her JW beliefs even though her mom is raising her as s JW and is allowing her to watch inappropriate TV/movies and have wordly friends (not sure why she is doing that). She is only 11 right now but very mature for her age and is gifted.

my wife is considering to let our kids participate, maybe even celebrate their own birthdays.
she says what can be so bad about just giving a little kid (who doesn't yet understand the bible) a day full of joy and happiness?
she herself actually delayed her own baptism as a teenager in order to celebrate one more birthday.
Per the Shepherd the Flock book celebrating a birthday would be a disfellowshipping offense if it persisted and you were not repentant.
