They might say it's about not bringing attention to the individual. But the real reason is they know people will shut their doors when hearing those dreaded words: Jehovah's Witnesses. Wouldn't you?

Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses introduce themselves when knocking on doors?
by Randomthoughts inmost random people who knock on the door politely introduce themselves when you open the door.. for example "hello, i'm derick from unicef and i'm looking for donations blah blah blah".
now annoying as it may be for some at least he had the courtesy to introduce himself.. why don't jw's do this?
is it because they are embarressed or perhaps they know you won't take their literature if they do?.

Burying further mention of "Jehovah's Witnesses"
Let alone never having "Christian" on the sign
Absolutely right. They are distancing themselves from religion while maintaining their tax-exempt "religious org" status. Marketing geniuses, albeit evil ones.

by Yondaime inlast month i decided to attend the international convention at metlife since my sister's cong was invited so she took me along with my older brother.

BOTR, we had a "talent" show (our rural cong used to have big events to entertain during the c.o. visits) and a brother DARED to sing Imagine while he played acoustic guitar. Have to admit, he nailed it! The audience was somewhat horrified, however. I think he was reproved for that and eventually df'd. I wish I could congratulate him now.

Did not Attend Mid-Week Meeting but Felt Good - Strange Feeling?
by ProfCNJ inhi folks.
the usual feeling for me - when i missed mid-week meetings - is to feel guilty, sad or depressed.
it normally involved negative feelings.

Jdubs are indoctrinated to feel guilt for doing anything the wts/gb tells them is wrong. It's like an automatic built-in electric shock control system which gets recharged every time a dub reads their teachings, hears their talks, and associates with other dubs. Carrying around that load of negativity that says You Are Sinful is soul-numbing.
It's so refreshing to get out from under it.

Anyone who's going, please remember to take notes of actually interesting things we'd like to know about...like how much weirder the talks are than last year, or more direct commands to disobey everything your brain actually tells you and instead follow mind-warping information from the bOrg.

Dubs don't lift a finger to actually HELP anyone...even their fellow dubs.
That part of their emotional brain has been wired shut by the bOrg.

Just Wow.
It would be amazing to see a bulleted list of the hypocritical manipulations the wts has pulled over the decades. This is a doozy, but Malawi was probably the worst? Building and maintaining Beth Sarim (the "house of princes") and Beth Shan have to be included. I'm sure there are many, many others which are known to some on this board and it would be something to see...kind of a cheat sheet for planting wtf seeds.

Go Bag
by notsurewheretogo inmy still-in wife has asked we prepare a "go-bag" with all the stuff we need in case of a natural disaster....we live in a country where there is none!.
but when i asked where this all came from she mentioned hurricanes etc but again we live in an area where they can never be things like this.. thus i suspect this is a society based instruction...can anyone enlighten me?.
are the society advising dubs to be doom preppers???

Living in Florida, we've always prepared go-bags for hurricane season. So we keep important papers sealed in ziplock freezer bags and stock up on some foods and a asceptic beverages especially in summer. The most important thing after your papers, credit cards and cash? Baby wipes and a pack of new undies from Walmart. Just sayin...
