Hoob - you miss the point.
If WE can do it using a machine - that means it can be done WITH NO SUPERNATURAL FORCE.
IE., it could have happened 'anyway'.
the news story below was posted yesterday.
what does it mean for you as christians?
if the project succeeds will you as a christian start to look more seriously into evolution?
Hoob - you miss the point.

tuesday november 12th is the date for the much anticipated release of the movie lord of the rings-the fellowship of the ring on dvd.
although the movie was released in august, the package released in 12 days reportedly will have 30 extra minutes of movie not shown at the theatrical release.
which is all the more exciting for the true fan.
What's cool about the extra 30 min is that it is incorporated into the movie. They even had the sound guys go back to studio to record new music for it.

For a good summary of the added material.
the nice lady living next door to me lost her husband last year and finally decided to move in with relatives.
although we only had a nodding acquaintance, i was sorry to see her go.
the "for sale" sign did not stay up long.
I did observe that the lot of them looked as if they could have played extras in the movie "Deliverance", or were the end result of too many near-relative marriages??
....
I would not have picked my new neighbors as Witnesses from a lineup, because they did not have that neat and tidy look one sees depicted in the magazines and on stage in family dramas.
Hmmmm....
That tells me they either 1)know I'm an inactive Witness or 2) are waiting for the right moment to begin preaching to me
I'd argue for 3) they are incredibly new. IE., they haven't been fully 'indoctrinated' (turned into clones) yet. That would explain the dual elder visit, too. I've moved a couple times as a witness in good standing, indeed, even married into a new house, and neither my family nor I ever received an 'elder visit' as a welcome. In my experience, that is reserved for new ones or weak ones (or those suspected of being 'weak').
what does creationism explain?.
what does it predict?.
what about blind cave fish with residual eyes.
IOW, you don't care about the answers, and you believe anything anyone tells you?
I mean, really, think about that answer. 'Faith is enough'. Faith from where? Where did that faith REALLY come from? From the interpretations given to you by some pastor or minister or whatnot somewhere?
Why do you believe THAT over anything science or even common sense shows?
Because it gives you a 'feel good' answer about the afterlife? Is that REALLY all the criteria you need to believe something?
i recieved this email from a customer of mine i have become close to.
she has heard a small portion of the horrid details of my past with the jehovah's witness religion.
today we were talking and that dasterdly topic of religion came up again.
1) What tangible thing has 'god' every done for ANYONE that you can prove happened and you can prove would not have happened if not for his direct intervention?
2) Why does x person feel the need to believe in some higher power?
See www.infidels.org for a lot of interesting articles on this and similar topics.

i was in a hormonal state the last couple of days, feeling a little melancholy.....sometimes when i feel like this, i miss being a jw.
don't get me wrong, i have not intention of ever going back.
i've come to realize what i miss is the naivety, the black & white thinking, allowing the organization to pretty much guide my every thought.
Celebrating your birthday when you can just doesn't have the same excitement.
LOLOL!
Oh, yeah, I'm a rebel now...I sneaking off to see an R-RATED MOV....oh, wait, nevermind...
Uhhh....BUFFY!! Yeah, I'm gonna watch a TV show with lesbians, and, and witches, and demons, and.....oh, damn....
OH! Alternative music!! YES!! That's the ticket...nice and loud, and, and...anti religious, and....CRAP...
Uhhhhhh.....
Hmmm.
Well, I guess I'll just have to be all normal and stuff
scientists 'touch' via internet technology could allow people to feel others over web .

story tools.
Really!
I mean, geez, scientists sometimes...
Big applications for this technology I see:
1) GAMES! Shooters will take on another whole level when, instead of just seeing your character limp, you actually FEEL getting shot!!
2) Well, yeah, porn....
But a HANDSHAKE??!? Oh, c'mon, that's *so* unoriginal....
creationists like to attack evolution by attacking the "fossil record" as being incomplete; i.e., if something existed, for example, transitional states, then we should see evidence of them in the fossil record.
so, their argument is that if something existed, then we should see it in the fossil record.. let's take a look at the case of kangaroos.
we must assume, if we accept the notion of a global flood, that noah collected two kangaroos for his menagerie in the ark.
With the creation argument that you raised, God could have transferred the entire marsupial population from Asia to Australia using whatever means possible he had at his dispoal
Sadly, this is exactly correct.
'God' could have instantly created man and all animals, then using his supernatural powers, made the Earth appear to be billions of years old when it was in fact merely thousands. Then, he uses his supernatural skills to scatter all kinds of fossils he created on the spot throughout the earth's crust to fascinate archeologists for years to come. He, of course, makes animals continue to adapt to their environment in an apparent evolution to further confuse scientists as to how life really got here. Then, he removed any trace of his existence from the planet, and made accounts of his presence and laws contradictory. Then, he created fictitious conflicing gods to have much of the world's population follow, to test the loyalty of his followers. He, of course, speaks in riddles to his followers and, although he can see the future well enough to warn specific kings about local famines, neglects to warn anyone about the black plague, Napolean, or Hitler.
Etc. Etc. ad nauseum.
the other day i was doing some shopping at the local mall with my wife, and she wanted me to go next door to this book store and pick up this book for her.
i went in and picked up the book, and went to the counter to pay for it.
the man looked at the book and it was a title that was not exactly something most men buy.
Dunno - I think I've shed my JWisms nicely. All the baggage that went with them? Not so far.
I completely know where you are coming from RE: the judging of others. I remember the thinking the exact same thought. When a friend told me he was moving in with a chick, I so desperately pleaded with him not to, or to at least get married first, because I just KNEW god would hate him for it.
Ditto with homosexuality, rap music, holidays, etc. People who did such things had SATAN in them - disgusting and vile.
Now?
Well, I'm over that...I'm okay with people's lifestyle choices. Hang around with gay people all the time (something I'm glad I didn't get to miss - at least of those I know, they've proven to be a lot friendlier and kinder than your typical college age kid). If a family member needed blood, I'd be happy to support them - even donating if it would help.
But what of the 'baggage'? It seems I have a hard time letting go of things for *myself*. I mentally have no issues with getting a blood transfusion...but really...I'd feel awkward about it still. Using expletives or 'vulgar language' (even sexual talk between husband and wife) still feels 'wrong'. Watching R-rated movies is still very difficult - almost uncomfortable seeing someone swear or get shot at or get naked.
*That's* what I have a hard time with. I know, logically, it's silly to feel that. I have no rational objections, but still....all those years of 'this is right' and 'this is wrong' and, specifically - NO TOLERANCE FOR PERSONAL JUDGEMENT - makes it hard when suddenly you HAVE to be the one judging everything for yourself.
ok folks,.
