Do you plan to donate your organs when you die?

i just saw this movie john q. with denzel washington, and it is a great movie.

the subject is about health care or lack of,,, and the need for organ donations.

i have always felt strongly about this and this movie really made me think about doing something instead of just saying it.

Thanksgiving Pies

since thanksgiving is upon us i thought i would start a thread on pies.

i make the same pie pretty much every year cuz it always disappears and i don't have to worry about eaitng thanksgiving pie on xmas day..please share your fave pie recipe and do try this version of classic pecan pie.. chocolate pecan pie.

3 eggs, lightly beaten.

Drumstick Pie

Shell:

1/3 cup chocolate syrup
1/2 cup mini marshmallows
1 (1.05 oz) chocolate bar
2 cups Rice Krispies
1/2 cup salted peanuts, chopped

Melt syrup, chocolate bar and marshmallows in microwave or double boiler. Mix in cereal and nuts. Press into a buttered 9 inch pie pan. Freeze.

Filling:

1 (3 oz) pkg cream cheese
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup milk
1 (9 oz) whipped cream topping, thawed
1 cup powdered sugar

Combine cheese and sugar and mix until creamy. Add peanut butter. Beat until smooth. Blend in milk. Fold in whipped topping.
Pour into shell and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Freeze overnight.

I usually drizzle extra chocolate syrup over the top of it before serving.

YUMMY!

my wife hit a deer while driving her new vw passat with less than 300 miles on it.

thats the car with the 300 miles on it.

we dont know how many miles the deer had on it at the time of collision.

I'm in Wisconsin also and boy can I relate!!! I've never hit one but have come really close many times. And when you see one, there is usually another one right behind it too!. I think the highest concentration of deer I ever saw was on a trip to see some friends near Tomah. Getting into the Wisconsin Rapids area, you are in Cranberry Country and I have never before nor since seen as many deer in one night than I did then. I've never tasted the venison from that area but I've heard it's much better meat because of the cranberries they eat.

This is the first year since he was a kid that my brother in law won't be going hunting and will actually be here with us for Thanksgiving. A bonus for us- he's alot of fun and he's also cooking the turkey!!!! I've read that the DNR is very very concerned about what this drop in hunters will do to increase the already problematic deer population. Seeing the northbound lane on the highway here in Green Bay last night, you'd never know there was a decrease in the numbers of hunters going out. I hope they get a handle on the Chronic Wasting Disease problem soon or it's going to get worse by next year at this time.

Sorry to hear about your wife's car but I'm glad they were able to fix it up for her. Just not the same though eh? That first scratch or dent on a new car -UGH!! And a deer can cause so much damage!!!!

ever get the feeling that some from these or perhaps other boards view themselves in some sort of leadership capacity?

its as though they might not have gotten enough of being an elder or ministerial servant and still relish the idea of being in charge.

one of the best ways to determine if an individual still has visions of grandeur is to disagree with them.

My Wedding Uninvitation

well the lovely young sister let my wife know today that only she would be invited to her wedding.

i'm not in the least surprised.

i know she really likes me and that her first inclination was to have me attend regardless of my daing myself recently.

I told my wife to let her know that I fully understand her feelings. That I am very happy for her and that I want her to have all the happiness in the world. Also to tell her not to feel an ounce of guilt over my uninvitation.

LB: The sincerity of your feelings comes right through this post and I am certain that she will know that you truly care about her and her happiness and that she must walk her own path.

You are a caring and decent man and I think you will later have more influence than you can realize right now. The fact that it doesn't matter and you care about her so much speaks volumes.

My hat's off to you LB!!!

following on the heels of what bowen said about ray, i began to see a statement that real soon began to get under my skin.

i've read it several times since and i hafta say: that little irritant is beginning to fester more than i care for.

the statement was something in the neighborhood of, "let's not get side-tracked with this franz / bowen fiasco and remember who our real enemy is... the watchtower society!".

Please don't beat yourself up okay? You have done your best along the way and you were doing what you felt was right based on one of the strongest belief systems there is. You were taught that and there is no shame in that. What you were taught was a very powerful thing, with guilt being at the very core of it's conditioning. Although a very natural reaction, guilt you deal with now will only serve to eat you up inside and steal some of the rest of your life. Not an easy thing to shake though, but more by little bits and pieces here and there. You are and have been such a positive influence on the lives of others, as is evidenced right here in this thread.
