I took some time during my personal study to look up the secular quote given and noticed the quote was taken out of context and that, contrary to the explanation given by the society, the author was expressing a profound and immutable belief in evolution.

They do too go beyond what is written...
by Marilyn intdogg started this on another thread.
his comments were:.
i wish i had that quote when i was told i had to wear a tie and suit to meeting, when i played chess, when i bought star wars figures, when i had to do at least 5 hrs of service a month, make a comment at every meeting, not wear top-sider shoes, never see a rated r movie, wear a no-blood bracelet, highlight all the answers in my watchtower, not play organised sports, not salute the flag,....anyone want to take over?......

The headship arrangement. During my wedding, the elder giving the talk waxed on about headship and submission to the point that my brother's worldly girlfriend walked out.
Later, following her example, I became known for walking out of the hall or sitting in the restroom or avoiding the bookstudy altogether whenever that arrangement was to be discussed.

Any Scary Flying Stories Out There?
by Englishman inher ladyship and i are musing on the idea of having a weeks break in late october, so we now have to decide where we will spend it.. it will probably be madeira again.
it's clean, warm, the people are pro-british and the island is stunningly beautiful.
we love the levada walks, the food is delish and cheap, a 3 course meal for 2 with wine is less than 20 pounds.

No thanks, E, I prefer jogging for cardiac conditioning.
I will be looking at the international news more intently though around October.

Nekked women
by teejay ini started to call this thread "porno" or something like that -- to get attention -- but since i don't know exactly what porno is, i thought i'd get down to the nitty gritty with the title.. here's the deal: i like looking at pics and/or live video or, if i'm lucky (or out of town) real live females who have no clothes on.
it's not something i do all the time, but when the mood strikes.... okay.
now, before i go any fu'tha, let me 'splain something.... i'm the type of guy that likes natural thangs.

Alas, if there was only a way to get the guys with those healthy leering qualities to exhibit them on the first date.

Is This A MINI-SCANDAL In Kentucky?
by AngryXJW inearlier today, i spoke on the telephone with a jw who will sometimes listen to "anti" info, but typically regurgitates the typical "party-line" responses.__________ .
however, today, the situation was reversed.
it seems that this jw was "slightly stumbled" at the da held in louisville, kentucky back in late june.________.

Angry,
If my beloved sister were to stumble even ever so slightly at the idea of an elder doing the california roll at a stop sign I would do my utmost to work that fact into her consciousness on a daily basis. It's a chip but I'd use it to my advantage until such time that I could get her to see all of the other evidence about the watchtower.
Keep up the good work.

The Bible: It does'nt make sense
by Leander inas i was exercising this morning i was thinking about my decision to step down as a ministerial servant and also to stop attending religious functions of any kind.
i've often felt that jws were somewhat flawed in their interpertation of the scriptures, but this morning it kind of hit me all at once that no 2 religions are going to have the exact same beliefs even though both religions might be using the same translation of the bible.
this disturbing fact raises quite a few thought provoking questions:.

If I could only remember which boxes hold my bible I could quote that scripture that tells of the man who cuts down a tree, creates a house from some of the wood, makes a little fire with which to warm himself and then with the rest carves out an idol from same piece of wood and prostrating before it, says 'oh my god, deliver me!" I would love to append that scripture to say 'and with still another piece of that wood, he fashions a little book called the bible and tells it 'show me the way to god and everlasting life.
Everlasting life is supposed to be a free, undeserved gift and yet if humans ever somehow got the clues within the bible right why shouldn't we feel as we'd earned it outright? Where is the gift?
How can god start with quality stock, which fails, then demand the same standards from the slipshod crap that's left? What kind of justice or love is that? -

jw marriages age differences
by invisible inof 3 that straightaway spring to mind:.
dg (m) 64 e (f) 27. bm (m) 49 d (f) 18. pl (m) 43 e (f) 18.
2 of the above were also 'arranged' marriages, do you know of any other instances of extremes in jw marriage age ranges?

At 21, my best friend, who was simply gorgeous, married a 35 year old elder from another congregation. At the time he was considered quite the catch as he was a pioneer and being groomed to be a CO. And naturally, everyone thought he was quite 'honorable' for delaying the marriage until she'd reached the ripe age of 21.
Shortly after marriage she became an elder's widow because he was never home and she constantly shared him with the congregation and PO. He coerced her into cutting her beautiful hair into a short do so she would look older and she also took to wearing dowdy long and loose skirts.
This was the norm in that area because the supply of men in that congregation was half that of the females and beautiful women like my friend who would have been lusted after by worldly men often felt lucky to have gotten picked at all.

SEX SEX SEX SEX & MORE SEX
by Perfection Seeker inok, now that i have your attention................................... it seems like most of the witnesses i know, and who have posted here, say their parents kept them in the dark about sex.
do you agree?
my parents never discussed it at all- in fact- if they did- or saw a love scene on tv- my mom would always say "thats disgusting' (yeah, right mom) .

can't really relate. came home one day in the 4th grade and asked my mother if she did oral sex because my teacher said anyone who didn't was a prude. apparently, at the time my mother must not have been doing it because she marched right up to that school the next day. however, in the sixth grade my mother da'd herself, divorced my stepdad shortly after and even though we still weren't allowed to celebrate birthdays and holidays, sextalk became the norm in our household. I knew every inch of my mother's body as she often paraded around the house naked, inserting tampons in my presence and making me help her groom her body. She often encouraged me to explore myself 'down there' to see what I had and would often come out of the bedroom after a romp with her more than ten years younger new husband sighing, smacking her lips, and extolling the joys of receiving oral sex. As a teen, she taunted me into watching a porn flick with her, my sis and my brother-in-law and laughed and called me a prude while I squirmed in my seat. I avoided any sex talk with my mother and sister as much as possible by leaving the room at the slightest indication that it would occur. I lost myself in Harlequin Romance novels and romance movies to try to recapture some sanity towards sex. Shortly after high school I got baptized and married and realized I really should have listened to all of my mother's talk. I also probably should have experimented a little before marriage. edited to make paragraphs for easier reading

Male and Female Friends
by StinkyPantz inmy husband and i have had sort of a disagreement of sorts.
he says that men cannot be friends with women.
he says that any man that appears to want to be friends with a woman really just wants to get in her pants, and if they end up friends it's purely by accident.

I am female. I think it's possible; however, I haven't been able to do it myself. Frankly, if I like the guy enough to be friends with him, I could very likely date him as well. It's easier to do when I am in a committed relationship, as I draw clear boundaries which are not to be crossed, but when I'm single, somehow through our closeness and mutual respect we grow on each other and the couple of times I had close male friends turned into two of my most intense non-sexual relationships.
I don't consider myself to be the jealous type and I would generally have no problem with my guy having female friends. However, if I for whatever reason felt threatened in some manner, he would need to trust my instincts and check their relationship or step back, so to speak.
One of the rules I've had with boyfriends past is that there can be no hanging out with friends with whom there has been a sexual relationship. It's just too easy to have a vulnerable moment and fall into old habits, especially where alcohol is involved.
