So glad that Jehovah's Witness is a belief system and not a race. Imagine how difficult it would be to escape the negativity of it if it came with highly visible and permanent physical identification marks like brown or black skin and slanted eyes.

how many of you feel the same, or do you share the camp of those who say, "everything happens for a purpose"?

Reading this made me feel sick. I could have written this conversation and where it lead without knowing either of you. It's the same drivel everytime.
Recently, I have been trying a different tact. I never initiate a conversation about religion and when they do so I only tell about how badly I was treated in the religion. NO one in my family can deny this nor do they try. Instead they say, well Jehovah didn't do it. To which I reply, neither did he stop it. How does he determine how much you can bear? Obviously, he didn't stop it when I could bear it no longer as the scripture says so now I am out. Then I morph into other things I have since found out which keep me out now that I no longer have to face those other hideous elders who wronged me. I then include things that were done to other family members. After all, by their fruits you will know them says la biblia.

I was taking a photo of an attractive woman and as I was adjusting the height of the lens she was smiling very prettily into the camera. I jokingly told her that I was not yet taking the photo, only adjusting the lens. She replied, "I know, I'm just flirting with you." And well, .....to be honest, I chuckled and didn't shriek and run away. Does that count?

Congrats and I am even more jealous now of your cutie! Someone above said you're in Cali, well, so am I and I am using your IP address to track you down and scoop him up!! It's kind of funny, people don't realize that when a black and white ( I am assuming you are white) couple have a child, there is an even greater range of skin tones that the child could inherit. This can even result in siblings who not only look unrelated but who also look to be of different races as each child picks up tones at each end of the spectrum. I know of a couple where the husband is Asian and the wife is a redhead with blue eyes and the baby girl is obviously Asian, with curly strawberry blonde hair, fair skin and blue eyes. She is absolutely striking!

AAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH! I really hate that phrase. I too heard it many times as an abused wife whose JW husband tried to choke her within the first month of marriage. I waited on Jehovah until an Awake article came in the mail detailing the abuse a sister sister had received for something like 20 years while married to a non-Jw)man. The man had finally come around, become a jw and had mended his ways and the sister was glad she'd hung in there and waited on Jehovah.
I read that article and saw her and consequently me for the fools we were and knew I would never wait for 20 years. I got out and took that article as the message from God that I'd been "waiting" for.

FARTING at the meetings
by gambler ini'm sure you all have some good comical stories of pple farting during prayer or other quiet times during meeting.
as a personal experience of mine, the night before i had eaten a frozen pizza, doritos, and some old chocolate milk.
this combination produced the worst smelling brew i have ever had.

Ha ha Danny, that brother was properly humbled for years! By the way, Zev and Tammy, I think the worst farts are from a lactose intolerant person who eats ice cream. They can't break down the milk fat and therefore have no earthly business eating the durn stuff! When it comes out of them, it is in various stages of decomposition and you know right away that something went godawfully wrong in the process!
