  Too wierd to be true... but it is... Elders???

  well yesterday i go the visit of two elders of my congregation, my wife told them that i was acting like an apostat as i talked two days before to two mormons, yes i told them that that they were in a cult like the jw's and they couldn't think for themselves like us, boy i got a real sermon from them, my wife told them that i was on anti-depresants and that they made me ack a bit crazy sometimes, well i know one thing, it wont be the last time i will here from them.

  i know 3 years ago i got a talk by the elders but that time it was for buying lotto tickets, again my wife found a ticket in my pocket that i forgot when i put my cholths for washing.

  i got the talk, but no sanctions again.

  It all depends on the elders I think. One thing I've discovered is that, despite what they say there is no one standard for everyone.

  My husband left the truth about a year before I did (he gently worked on me and finally I saw the light). He bought lottery tickets, even smoked a couple of times while out having a beer and the elders didn't say boo. They listened to my tears that I was going to lose him at Armaggeddon and left it at that. No one was in a hurry to disfellowship him. Even now, though we don't do anything unscriptural per say at this time, it's quite obvious that we are both apostates, yet the JWs haven't come near the house in years.

  i was thinking about this the other day.

  since i've left the borg, i find myself loving other humans more.

  like all the little children being abducted, the miners trapped in the mine last week, the victims of car accidents that i pass on the road, a woman crying in the car next to me while waiting for the green light, the homeless that i see every weekend at a local soup kitchen where i volunteer, etc.

  I hate to disagree with you Will but I'm going to.

  Indiginous people are said to have their own "bounded field" faith structure, usually refered to as core shamanism. Men and women are treated equally in the pure ancient ways of native beliefs.

  However, the "Revealed Universal" faith structure, which is where, in basic terms, someone has a revelation that must be spread to all people, beliefs and dogma are used to supress the existing "bounded field" beliefs of the natives. It is out of the "Revealed Universal" concept that inequality of the sexes comes. Rules upon Rules....

  Look at the WTS, for such a supposedly simple religion, there are endless rules.

  Did you want to live in paradise?

  say you didnt want to be in paradise would that mean you were anointed,because i never liked the idea of living in parklike surrounds,singing birds,waterfalls,etc.

  i mean i have grown up in the city and thats were i wanted to stay,so say didnt want to live in paradise what then.i remember someone thinkin that they were anointed because they had this feeling that they werent meant for the earth huh?

  I had always wanted to live in paradise - I was absolutely shattered when I found out it was a complete lie. But, you guys are correct - the idea of a JW paradise would be awful.

  in my time as jw there was at least one urban legend that was very popular.

  amongst jaydubs.this was about the dog named "jehovah" by it's jw-hating owner.

  so that when he got visited by them once again,he could shout "jehovah,attack!"..

  That brings back memories UglyDuckling. Everytime I was "bad" as a child my parents went diving through the house looking for whatever new they had bought recently so they could burn the demons out of it. It got so bad that, as a child, I used to tell my parents I was possessed by demons because I thought it must be true. How messed up is that!

  wednesday morning, the doorbell rings right in the middle of my cooking breakfast.

  i open the door to find two gray-haired men wearing white shirts and ties, trying to hand me the latest copies of the watchtower and awake magazines.. this is the actual conversation that followed:.

  witness one: good morning, we have stopped by your house today to share some good news with you and.

  i know how much you enjoy nature, so i took a pic of our garden on the day before the bbq.

  it's not a particularly large garden so it doesn't take that much work to maintain it.

  most of the flowers are petunias, niccotania and antihhrynnums, although we can get semi-tropical stuff to grow well in this part of the uk..

  Texans Running My Pub? My Giddy Aunt.....

  it's absolutely true.. folks, i'm reeling with shock at this announcement.

  ron & jenny who own the place have decided to take a weeks break at the end of august.. a few months ago, ron & jen went to texas to stay with some americans that they had met while visiting their daughter in japan, a couple by the name of molly and harvey.

  he expressed a desire to run a pub in england, so ron has taken him up on his offer.
