what is it about peace that it is such a difficult thing for man to understand?

Cancer is such a bloody cruel disease.
i was just reading through the thread started by sirona.
thanks, btw, sirona, for providing the information in the awake magazine about the wtbts' take on the 9-11 tragedy... and for pointing out their crass capitalization of the event.. it occurred to me that i wouldn't pick up an awake or watchtower magazine or accept one if it was offered.
i'm intrigued and interested though if someone takes the time to make info contained in the mags available to illustrate a point or support an argument.. then i wondered:.
I keep wondering though... why don't they make the magazines' contents available on their website, if they are as invested in the information getting disbursed as they seem to be...
Why dont they just do letter drops. Why come to the bloody door to annoy the owner? You can tell they dont want to be there when they do...especially the teenage kids. I really feel sorry for the kids who come to the door tagging along behind a pompous parent. Boredom written all over their face while the older person rattles off some cliche' about how good WT and Awake magazines are.
But back to my point: why dont they just dump pamplets in yer letter box and bugger off. It'd be quicker and more people would read them. As it is they go to the door and knock a few times and then the owner comes out and says bugger off I'm not interested...or just doesn't answer. They should just stick their magazines or pamplets in the letter box and go home and mow the lawn!

"the events of september 11, 2001, in new york city, washington d.c., and pennsylvania will be indelibly impressed on the minds of millions, if not billions, of the world's inhabitants.
where were you when you saw or heard the news of the attack on the world trade center in new york and on the pentagon in washington?.
...I also heard at the time of the bombing, they only let witnesses in and that they were on lock down and were not providing refugee....
I read a little on that too WW77. Makes a mockery of this:
"Eventually, we were directed towalk to the Brooklyn Bridge and cross to the other side. Imagine our relief as we got to the Brooklyn side of the Bridge and saw a huge sign "WATCHTOWER"! We knew we were safe.Oh yes, how kind!!!"We were given a welcome and accommodations. We were also supplied with clothes, since we had nothing..."
Of course the dogs can stay outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from southern australia i was looking at the sky after getting home at 11.00pm.

I just notice i've put this thread in the wrong damn forum too.
Maybe it's just the drugs

Ok, just now. From southern Australia I was looking at the sky after getting home at 11.00pm. I look up and theres one of those falling stars moving through the sky. Yeah, OK, nothin unusual. But then I notice theres 2 more. The 3 star thingy's form a triangle, are a bit bigger than the consellation of taurus ,and they are moving at uniform speed to the north. Weird.
Heres another one. I was going to ring the university or something at the time...but just couldn't be bothered. But anyway, in about the first week of May of this year at about 7:00pm I'm looking up at the sky near the Southern Cross and I notice this bright star, as bright as jupiter approx. It doesn't seem to be moving at all, it then quickly fades to a dim star and then moves directly south and dissappears?
Any idea what these things are? Just comets or what? Super Nova? Spaceships ha ha!
i recieved the following emails, anyone wanna help write a response?
i always write responses i just wanna see some other ways you guys respond to these typical jw inquries.. i have three questions for you!
1- it seems to me by your comments that you are destroying the jw name why?
3-With everything that is going on in the world can you deny the fact that this is the great tribulation. Satans wicked system is comming to an end. Armaggedon is almost at hand?
Two things come to my mind that will serve as a sign that Armageddon is at hand, or has begun. They are:
1. The UN will ditch the harlot of false religion and leave her desolate.
Yeah right...Can anyone HONESTLY see this happening in the near future, let alone EVER. The more I think about it, the more it seems utter ridiculous that UN would even bother!!!! Like the US is going to suddenly give all it's talk of God etc...Like all the Moslems are suddenly going to give up Islam. The UN is impotent in this respect! It just wont happen!
2. The gospel will be preached to all the nations.
This is nowhere near being accomplished. So therefore we are nowhere near the End.
Dumb prophecy bullshit!
here is and interesting question which touches on some points raised in other posts.. can things really move?.
if you haven't thought about it before it may seem like a stupid question, but i'll try to explain.. one of the principles of quantum physics is that things do not get infinatly smaller.there is a granuality to objects so at some point things don't get any smaller.. the same holds with energy if you take energy out of a system you can not go on forever .eventually you hit absolute zero were every thing is still.. in the other direction , the speed of light is an absolute limit.. so what happens if you make smaller and smaller movements eventually you would stop.but what is the next smallest movement between being stopped and moving?.
if we put some figures on it it may make it easier.. if to be stoped is 0 and the next possible amonut of movment is 1 you could not move say 1/2 as that is smaller than 1 and if you could keep dividing forever like this you would never reach absolute standstill.. so like the particals in the universe movment has to be granular as well.made up of definate jumps though very tiny.. if this is the case then there is a problem how does one object , if we imagine the smallest to be a quark jump from one place to another is it technicaly the same object or a new one ?.
...maybe I have missunderstood.
You wouldn't be the first Sleepy.
Quantum Physics is a headache!
i realise some still retain a bit of a superstitious fear in certain areas where watchtower dogma has been drummed into you such as birthdays and christmas.
how do you feel about voting today?
especially in light of the fact that here in oz voting is compulsory and that doing so would demonstrate "subjection to the superior authorities" (rom.
Any predictions on results?
The result will be one boring evening of TV!
Roy and HG are lightening things up a bit though!
this is just a snippet of what i found over at salon.com.

are anthrax letters ok for abortion-rights groups?.
Just another one:
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Nov. 9, 2001 |
NEW YORK (AP) -- Scores of family planning clinics in at least 12 states have received letters containing anthrax threats, according to officials of feminist and abortion-rights organizations.
Eleanor Smeal, president of the Feminist Majority Foundation, said more than 200 clinics and advocacy organizations received letters Thursday delivered in Federal Express envelopes. Envelopes that were opened contained white powder and letters signed by "the Army of God."
It was the second such wave of threats; more than 250 abortion clinics received similar letters last month. Thus far, none of the powder sent to the clinics has tested positive for anthrax.
Among the messages in the latest batch of letters, according to Smeal's group, were: "You've ignored our earlier warnings. You've been exposed to the real thing. High-quality."
Targeted groups included the Feminist Majority Foundation, the Center for Reproductive Law and Policy, Catholics for a Free Choice, Advocates for Youth, and the American Association of University Women.
Those who sent the letters somehow obtained the account numbers of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the National Abortion Federation to pay for the mailings, according to officials of both organizations. They said packages have been tracked to at least three drop-off locations in Virginia and Philadelphia.
Most of the letters were received in states along the East Coast. Some also were reported in Detroit.
The targeted organizations called on Attorney General John Ashcroft and the FBI to "outline publicly their intentions to investigate and prosecute these acts."
For two decades, a clandestine anti-abortion group calling itself the Army of God has carried out attacks on abortion providers and clinics, including bombings and sniper attacks.
In Connecticut, where at least 12 clinics received the letters, officials promised thorough testing of the powder.
"These were intended to be a threat to scare people and we want to make sure this is not what they say it is," said Brian Emanuelson, an emergency response coordinator with the state Department of Environmental Protection.
