  We finally saw Fahrenheit 9/11

  dave got home early on wednesday so we hustled off to the afternoon showing.

  (cheaper seats).

  it was amazing...................very compelling, and thought provoking.. one of the most upsetting things was towards the end when he revealed that of all 96 (not sure of that number) members of congress (senate and house) only 1 member had a child in the military, actively serving.

  One of the clever editing segments Moore does is when he approaches a Senator and asks if he would sign a petition to get all Senators to enlist their kids. What Moore cuts is the response where the Senator actually agrees and the Senator mentioning that he has 2 Nephews in Iraq and 1 in Afganistan. Instead Moore concludes the segment saying NO Senators want their kids in Iraq and only 1 has children over there.

  Anyway, its too bad Moore did so much deceptive editing. I think aside from that his message is right on the mark.

  Patio: It makes a person wonder why they got this preferential treatment.

  If that's the point Moore makes then it's certainly a valid one. No Doubt the Bin Laden clan is 'oil freindly' since most of their money is oil related, so I could see Bush protecting his own. They could have provided protections in other practicle ways. Tie that in with the blatent Haliburton handouts and you have a real stinky fish.

  I'm definetly going to see it. I'm not much for far left (or right) politics, but there are certainly no questions too sacred to ask. I'm sure Mr. Moore will put his own spin on things, like he did in Bowling for Columbine, but hey, some of his points were valid in that one too.

  May I ask:

  Why is flying the Bin Laden Family out of the Country after 911so bad? I'm sure their family would be in iminent danger had they remained. They are opposed to Osama's mayhem and have stated such publicly. What's the scandal here? It sounds to me like there is some kind of weak attempt to tie Bush in with Osama Bin Laden. There's plently of legitimate arguments against Bush out there. This one sounds pretty shallow.

  I hope there is more to the movie that just that.

  this is my first post, i am using a friend?s alias because i can?t seem to logon under my own.

  i have been what?s known on this site as a lurker for the past 2 plus years.. however, i could not resist the opportunity to solicit your feedback on an e-mail i received from a co-worker who is a j-dub.. i no longer consider myself one, although i was in the org.

  for 25 years.. after reviewing the e-mail my family and i became quite nausea.. please take a look and tell me what you think.. .

  Boy those Dubs really like pushing that FEAR button! I wonder if any in attendance thought - for just a moment - about the GRAND SCALE of geonocide they expect their "loving God" to carry out?

  Their Jah/Jesus makes Hitler look like Mother Theresa! Imagine a Parent who abandons his children and refuses to make even the slightest attempt to communicate, despite having unlimited power and "myriads of myriads" of personal assistants, and then comes back years later looking to KILL any of them who guessed his intentions incorrectly. We would have no problem locking someone like this up as a murderous maniac, yet if we simply change his name to Jehovah it's now perfectly OK?? What a creepy concept of God.

  Dub spotting

  ever since i 'de-troofed' myself i've taken quite a bit of pleasure in spotting jw's when i'm out and about.

  i'm getting pretty good at it too.

  i'm on my way home from work when i notice this white van turn in front of me.

  Ever since I 'de-troofed' myself I've taken quite a bit of pleasure in spotting JW's when I'm out and about. I'm getting pretty good at it too. I'm on my way home from work when I notice this white van turn in front of me. The guy was wearing a tie, he has a window washing sign on the van, and it was 7:15 pm on a Thursday night. I think to myself, that's a Dub. There's a Kingdom Hall a few miles up and sure enough he pulls into the almost full lot.

  At a Restaurant I spyed on a group until the Pizza arrives. Sure enough all of them do the obligatory pre-meal public prayer quickie. You know what it looks like, it's that sheepish 5 second, pause-and-look-down-so-all-the-other-Dubs-know-you-always-say-your-prayer routine. I even caught one of them taking a bite, then doing the stop-chewing-and-pray-cuz-you've-been-busted bit.

  What a hoot! My girlfiend thinks I'm nuts though.

  i wrote to him to express my utmost respect for him and his wife and all they did by writing his books.

  i wasn't going to say anything about it to anyone because i thought maybe that would be disrespectful to him.

  to day in rereading it for the 20th time i just felt so melonchly about it.

  Dealing with a work-place bully...WARNING...RAMBLE!

  need to get this off my chest.

  i've been doing this job for 10 years now since i qualified as a staff nurse in 1994, i think i've worked hard to get to the position i am now in which is acting ward manager of a busy surgical ward.

  since my student nurse training days a certain staff nurse has been working on the same ward as me for most of that time, someone who qualified way before i did.

  It is sad that some people have been afraid or reluctant to come to you about this. Perhaps you should take the initiative and interview her workmates and staff regularly hereafter until this is no longer an issue. I hate when one difficult person can ruin an otherwise pleasant work environment. They are like warts though. You have to be persistent if you want them to go away.

  Oh yeah, re-emphasizing LT's advice. Document it! (or she might have YOU in a jam)

  i remember attending an assembly which dramatized jw's being held, as in wwii, as having to make a choice to either "renounce?
