This thread brings back a childhood memory. When I was 12 I was interested in the Flood and antediluvian life (such as Enoch and Noah) and I found a cave art drawing depicting an orgy, with I believe dozens of erect penises, and I copied it out by hand and kept it with the rest of my Bible things in my desk, and one day my mom cleaned my room and found it and went nuts thinking I was fantasizing about some massive orgy, and she confronted me about it, and I said...Noooo!!! It's a historical document! It depicts things that happened before the Flood! My interest is only intellectual! lol Good thing she didn't take that to the elders.

For those who think Fred Franz wrote it, it is interesting to compare what he wrote in 1927:

It sets them to dreaming about the golden time coming when they too will be grown up and not be under the thumb of other grown ups, but when they can be independent (as they call it) and do wonderful things....
I remember how afraid I was as a boy of the end of the world. When many grown ups were scared that the end of the world was very near, I was frightened, too; and I tried to live oh! so good, thinking I would go to heaven if the earth should be burned up. Really though, you boys and girls and all of us can be glad that the world is coming to an end; for it means that all these bad, hard times and wicked things that we now have and everyone has had since Adam did wrong are going to pass away, and that the best times we have ever had on earth are going to come in and come to stay for ever....
Since the things are happening today that Jesus told us about, we know that we are right at the very doorstep of the new world, the world to come. We are moving into the new world. If you try to learn about God in the Bible and try to please Him, you may never die, but move right on into the new world fully and then never have to die.
Think about keeping on living to see these good times come in! Think too, of growing up in the new world on earth! Doesn't it make you feel like throwing your hat up into the air and shouting out, "Hurrah"! Doesn't it make you love God more?
Let's see, a child of about age 10 reading that article in 1927 would today be around 94 years old.

Did anyone find the movie The Grey slightly offensive?
by Chemical Emotions inits portrayal of grey wolves was horribly inaccurate.
it will probably lead to an even more negative attitude toward wolves, which puts them in more danger.
i believe i read that the creators bought dead wolves while producing the movie.. its main characters' philosophizing was pretentious, cliched, and insulting to my intelligence.

Sleep Paralysis

i've experienced sleep paralysis since i was quite little, but didn't know what it was until i was in my 30's.
since this is often mistaken for demons or alien visits, it sometimes soothes people to know that others experience it and there is a scientific explanation.. when it happens, it is extremely real.

I haven't ever had night terrors or stuff like that but one time in college my lower half of my body was paralyzed when I woke up. I didn't realize it until I tried to get out of bed and fell flat to the floor. Then I just snapped out of it and got up.

Immediately, the whole house seemed to be in deep water. A large python came out of the water and crawled around my hand. I tried in vain to shake it off. I was terrified. Then the water and the snake vanished, and I was violently thrown to the ground. I was unconscious for several hours.

one thing led to another, and i decided to produce another world map, this time showing the net reduction in publishers for each country.. this has been calculated by means of the following equation for each country:.

Aren't many of those baptized already publishers? A significant proportion of those who are baptized are born-in.

the finding, published may 10 in neuron, extends the domain of the neurons beyond humans, great apes and other large-brained creatures and will now allow scientists to study the habits of a neuron that may be key to human self-awareness.. people have been reluctant to say, but want to believe, that these neurons might be the neural correlate of consciousness, says neuroscientist and psychiatrist hugo critchley of the university of sussex in england.

Finding these cells in similar brain regions in monkeys could present a blow to the idea that the cells bestow self-awareness. Although it’s difficult to assess a monkey’s state of mind, macaques don’t reliably recognize themselves in a mirror, one simple test of self-awareness. In the macaque, their location suggests that the von Economo neurons may handle a more basic kind of bodily awareness.
Well, a preadaption could be exaptated to a diferent function, or specialize its function. These neurons may still play a role in self-awareness in higher apes and homonins if they don't have this function (or a more general function) in monkeys.

Solar Eclipse Tomorrow, May 20, 2012
by ohiocowboy infor anyone interested, tomorrow there will be an annular eclipse of the sun, which will be seen from china and japan to the middle of the united states.. below is a link to a site that shows an animated map of how the eclipse will appear in your neck of the woods.
just click on your state or country and go from there.. if you want any more info on this eclipse, you can do a google search.. here in the dfw area, the sun will be eclipsed about 90%, which should still provide a decent show.
those living on the east coast of the usa will not be able to see it though, due to the fact that the sun will already have set in that area..

I was a little disapointed. It only darkened us a little- like a passing cloud.
I thought it was pretty cool. When it gets darkened by a passing cloud, the shadows fade away and everything gets even lighting. But yesterday it was direct sunlight with very strong shadows, it just was that the sun wasn't putting out as much light like as if it had a dimmer switch. It was a weird effect.
