  Am I oversimplifying?

  i'm fairly new here but regularly i read posts that recognize the significant lack of love among jw's.

  would i be speaking too simply to say that since god is love... they just haven't truly accepted him into their hearts rendering them incapable of exibiting pure christian love in their lives?.

  love isn't something we do for him, it's something he does through us.

  Whyhideit, by way of clarification I definately didn't come to any conclusion based only on what I have read here (ex/anti JW). I have attended enough meetings, read enough WT books and mags, and then engaged enough JW's myself to recognize it, even as a potential candidate in their eyes. I saw it and obvoiously most here have seen it as well. Evaluate individually, yes...altogether fair and proper. BUT, the WT "effect" is by design and supposed to dull their loving senses enough to REJECT anyone and everyone who simply disagrees with ANYTHING WT related. That rejection certainly isn't christian because it is the opposite of the Bible's teachings about love.

  Faith hope and love, and the GREATEST is love. Thanks for your reply, I'm SURE we're on the same team.

  How NOT to be swindled or conned

  at this time of the year i like to contemplate on the lessons learned during the .

  previous year.

  i have a question for anyone wanting to share their own experiences: have you been swindled or conned this year or previously?

  Always measure someones information against another's. Make sure you have the pros AND the cons...and be honest with yourself about just how much your emotions are affecting your decisions. Trust is earned, credibility must be maintained, truth and honesty is imperative. What you hear from others is opinion, which change, even the good ones. Make up your own mind AFTER you do the due diligence. Don't dwell so much on your own mistakes that you miss the lessons that can be learned from others mistakes. Examples are great, even when they are of what NOT to do.

  A few ideas for starters. This will sound elementary but...don't worry, be happy. It works.

  Love isn't something we do FOR Him, it's something He does THROUGH us. I believe the WT requirements pushes it right out of them. Everything we do is motivate either by love or fear.

  New Religion or Fix it

  do you figure that the watchtower only needs a bit of fine tuning, small minor ajustments, or do you believe that they are completely off the track as far as biblical knowledge is concerned?

  i ask this question since many don't seem to find any other religion to replace this one.

  so maybe this religion only needs fine tuning, or many small minor ajustments that would solve most of their problems.

  Fine tuning by imperative means one is already tuned to some extent. The WT teachings and control are no tune at all. True Christians are in tune with Jesus, and the Father does the fine tuning as we put our faith in Him to do so. The WT has so many errant teachings based on scriptures out of context that the whole picture is entirely out of focus. Then there is the obvious lack of emphasis on true love and the power of grace. The Holy Spirit, our comfortor and counselor is ignored for the greatest...Jah himself. Worse yet, to JW's the WT GB is Jah for all practical purposes.

  Nope, false teaching and false prophecy equals false religion and God will execute His judgement as He sees fit. In the meantime I'll continue to serve and honor Him as best I know how...including loving JW's enough to plant and water as opportunity affords.

  Married...and ideally, happily. But remember this, if it weren't for orgs like the WT, could we clearly see what good orgs are...if there was nothing to compare?

  unmarried sisters who got knocked up by their 'worldly' boyfriends.

  When you get right down to it, JW's are just people...some good and some bad. To somehow arrive at some percentage regarding their conduct verses non JW's is near impossible. My experience with JW's doesn't suggest anything outstanding, and certainly doesn't agree with their endless claims of tremendous love, behavior, and obedience to Jah so far and above other christians I know. Clean? Yes, but not to the extent they boast about. I actually equate the word "clean" to their DF ing, whereas they enjoy a "cleansing" each time another prophecy fails. But if they didn't believe it to be true, all of it, then they aren't good witnesses according to "what is written" by the WT.

  Even well behaved JW's are incapable of adding much to society at large, in effect they are forbidden. Good behavior doesn't automatically mean good people anyway, your heart has to be right. The WT mold doesn't allow much for good open-heartedness to outsiders where it counts the most. The Bible asks, what good is it to you to love those who love you?

  Do not blame the workers in the field

  often when discussing with jehovah's witnesses the problems of the organization, it is common for them to say they think you are lying.

  they may feel in some way or another that you have fallen away from the pure light, and have become blinded to jehovah, and opened your eyes to satan's false teaching.

  these words, and the thinking i have expressed, should sound very familiar to any reader who has spent time in the organization.

  Very good analysis, and the WTS is exactly like a bomb...it kills or at least hurts so many innocents. The workers have no idea what they support, they are told ever so repeatedly that it's all about Jah and His kingdom. Poor souls, I wish the blue prints for the WT were as easy to read as a bomb diagram.

  what gets to me is when i hear a story that gets embellished .

  it's worse when someone relates the story and i was the original teller of it....what about you?

  Telling someone the truth and as self-proclaimed lovers of the truth, they criticize you and consider you a foolish, unsaved, rebellious, disrespectful, prideful, hater of Jah's org and arrangement. Then they offer a free "bible" study about not judging.

  Happens too often, you'd think I could accept it by now. But men are the only creatures smart enough to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

  when i left the wt i basically never looked back.

  i decided that they would never again impact my life as they had in the past.. here is the problem in my case.

  after all these years, i have finally been faced with some situations that i had to react to and have seen that a lot of the old teachings were still influencing my decisions in life (ie.

  Having never been a JW this may sound naive, but a place to start might be to consider anything and everything about the WT to be just like you once considered anything and everything outside the WT. If by chance the WT actually provided some good for you, I full well expect that same good to be available, if not considerably more so, away from the WT, so you don't miss out on anything. The world according to the WT is entirely black and white, us against them, good verses evil. Simply practice entirely reversing it. Again, whatever real truth exists at the WT is truth everywhere, so you don't stand to lose anything of value. Use the same method they taught you to obey them to reject them. Immediately block out anything WT related knowing full well that they're a bad association.
