It's apparently auto-biographical.

What would you do?
by ctrwtf inso i travel alot for business and check into a hotel, start putting away my things and lo and behold in a bureau drawer, find a couple of wt's a couple of awake's and two tracts.
1. throw them in the trash and forget about it.
2. leave them where they lay and forget about it.. 3. leave a note for the housekeeper asking to lay off the cult recruitment.. 4. bring it to the attention of the management, and possibly get the housekeeper fired.. thanks for your input.

I can't believe you actually posted a thread about this.
Trash goes in the trash can. Since they're paper, you might as well be "green" and recycle.

I need some input: I have come to the conclusion my wife blames me for her lack of spirituality
by goingthruthemotions inso lately my wife and i have been arguing alot.
not big arguments...but more of a bickering.. you see, over the last year i have stepped down as an ms and we moved halls.
last november was around the time i woke.. during this time we still have family studies....but only from the bible.

she made a comment yesterday that it is because of me that she is not spiritual
Well I guess it's easier to blame someone else rather than take responsibility for herself. You just happen to be her scapegoat.
Did you marry my ex-wife?

GB Doesnt Believe in 1914 Anymore My reasoning
by thedepressedsoul ini have heard a lot of talk over the last year or so if the gb will eventually ditch 1914 and some have even made the claim that most, if not all of the gb do not believe in 1914. ive given this some thought and in the past i wasnt sure.
this annual meeting puts 100%, without a doubt in my mind that the gb do not believe in 1914. id even go as far to say that they talked about that date and have a game plan in mind.. here is why i feel this way:.
there were a lot of changes with the parables at this annual meeting.

I hate to say it, but I agree with OneEyedJoe and Baltar in this matter. (Nothing against either of them, I only hate what I'm about to write because I hate that it's true).
In the past, the WT leadership needed the 1919 appointment to "justify" their position. Now the GB leaders lead because they do. They just are.
They are so historically entrenched the really don't need an "explanation" or "justification" for why they are in charge. They are in charge because they are in charge. That's just the way it is.
Sure, they'll always say, "God appointed us," but they don't really need the 1919 date for "evidence" of that. All the recent doctrinal changes they've made with out any solid justification, any real proof or any actual evidence as amply demonstrated that the R&F will follow simply because that's what they do.
I wish it weren't so, but it is.
Let's review: It's a cult!

Heaven: Lett speaks to his audience as though they are all 5 years old.
That's the only way he knows how to communicate.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Stephen Lett is largely responsible for me realizing that there is no way in hell that God has anything to do with this religion. No "God" would ever choose that fool to represent him.

S&R: "Scientist" means nothing, evidence means EVERYTHING.
There is a difference between what we observe and what we infer. Our biases and beliefs tend to color our perceptions. Also, our data recording devices (our senses) are extremely limited).
The whole point of SCIENCE is to try to adopt a way of thinking, a methodology, a philosophy if you will, that is objective (at least as much as is humanly possible).
S&R: It is impossible to find ANY evidence that the sun goes around the earth because it doesn't. It was believed to be true becuase of the bible and tradition.
I don't think I've ever disagreed with S&R before, but I'm going to now. The reason people used to believe that the sun went around the Earth is because that is how it appears to the ignorant and uneducated mind. This is almost certainly pre-Biblical and not the other way around.
Regarding the idea of a geocentric universe, we now know that is wrong and there is abundant evidence to the contrary. Hell, it's not even helio-centric. The fact is, the Universe is so damn big we have no idea where "the center" is.
Again, a goal of science is to use our intellect to get outside of the limitations of our physical perceptions. One way we do this is by developing tools to extend our senses, for example: telescopes, microscopes, electromagnetic sensors that extend our range of "vision" all the way from radio waves to X-rays.

What are the ODDS Jehovah's Witnesses are the ONLY TRUE religion?
by Terry inthe entire organization shoves all its chips into the center of the table on one bet: they are the only mouthpiece of god on earth.. what are the odds to this bet?.
the statistic for christian denominations make jw's 1 out of 41,000 opinions.. a chance of 1 in 41 thousand is a tough bet.. _________________________.

What SOP said!
If they were REALLY interested in "truth," then they would DESTROY all older publications which contain "old light" and ONLY distribute new, current publications.
Cognitive dissonance, anyone?

Excellent, I just sent this out to my students and their parents:
REAL HISTORY: What to tell your kid about Christopher Columbus
Here's an informative link from CNN Opinion pages written by David M. Perry, an associate professor of history at Dominican University in Illinois:
