I bought a couple of suits when I joined in 1988, and being inactive since 1991, I didn't buy any cloths since. So when I show up 2 or 3 times a year, I always put back on my old cloths I bought in 1988. I gained maybe 10 lbs since, so you can imagine wearing old cloths, which are too small on top of that. I will not invest in cloths just for 2 or 3 meetings a year! I hate dub cloths.

What was the worst outfit you wore?
by outbackaussie inremember going to conventions during the mid 80's?
sisters all dolled up in lolly-wrapper dresses of sparly taffeta with balloon sleeves and brothers strutting about with shiny grey siuts with narrow lapels and black leather ties?
ooooh what a look that was!

Was it normal to have so many meetings?
by JH inhow many meetings a week, do you think we should have had in order to be reasonable and not overdone?
maybe 30 or 40 years ago, when woman didnt work, or when life was a little easier, that all these meetings every 2 days was ok, but today with life being so stressful, and with all the time it takes commuting, is it normal to still have so many meetings.
nothing changed in the last 50 years as far as meetings go.

Nothing changed in the last 50 years as far as meetings go. The Watchtower didnt adjust to modern times. With the 15 minute a month field service report change, maybe the society could also ask less in meeting hours per week. Maybe its time that they take off 1 or 2 meetings a week. I think that many are overwhelmed with all these meetings every 2 days. Maybe thats why attendance is so low. Less people would quit if positive changes occurred. Do you think the Watchtower will ever be less demanding?

XJWS! Remember your Training, Please!
by metatron ini read so many sad stories on this board about folks who suddenly realize that the.
watchtower is a corrupt cult and then try to bombard their loyal relatives with information.
about the un, the blood fraud, molesters, etc.. big mistake!

That is very true metatron, and just like Jesus said, the love you have for each other is the sign of the true religion. Often just little things work better than grand philosophies. An elder once told me you can bring a horse to water, but you can't force him to drink. That goes bothways.

I think that the first bad habbit, is to become the same person, with the original traits that we had before entering the WatchPower.(ConrolTower) whatever.

Good Looks or Spirituality
by JH innow, lets be honest here.
what were you looking for when you were searching for a wife/husband in the organization?
was it the good looks of the other person, or maybe the spirituality they had, or maybe the good job he or she had?

I guess you were the only brave person on this forum to be honest enough to answer that question.

Japan Lost 589 Congregations
by metatron inthings must be getting tough for the 'number puffing' theocrats in japan.. .
3802 congregations (1999 yearbook).
3213 congregations (latest report).
-
JH
The US average still hovers around 83 per congregation
Do you mean that 83 go regularly in average, or do you mean the total if everybody goes is 83.
In my town, there are 3 congregations, and the biggest is about 135, and the smallest is 115, thats total, when all show up. But actually only 70-75 go in average.

How long are people remembered?
by joelbear in.
unless you are famous for something how long are you really remembered?.
maybe you are remembered at most by your grandchildren, but then your presence in the universe is gone.. so, really, what difference does it make whether you die in your 40's or your 70's, your memory simply lingers another 30 years at most.

Each person is different. Let me give you an example of my cat. I had a cat that lived 7 years, and died of some kind of cancer. Well, I really liked that cat alot, because I live alone, and being lonely, that cat was like a person to me. That cat died 10 years ago, next may, and I still remember. I know that you can't compare an animal with a person, by no means, but some people forget faster about a person, than I forgot about my cat!!! So the whole thing is in your heart. When you have a heart, you remember.

We are very fortunate & take it for granted
by Simon inwe've just been watching an absolutely heart wrenching documentary on itv about a little girl with a very rare disease (progeria) which makes her age prematurely at 10 times the normal rate.
she will be like an old woman by the time she is 10.. they have a meet-up where the little kids with the same condition can play and have fun together and seeing their poor little faces looking so happy is a wonder to behold.
i guess it's easy to forget that inside they are still really little kids.

Life is a gift, and we never know when it could end. Humans as well as animals do suffer. We are faced with the same realities. We are all biological units that break down. Some are more fortunate than others, but sickness always finds it way. So enjoy life while it lasts. Lets hope that God exists and that we all can live forever like we were taught.

The Trinity
by meadow77 intop reasons the wts is lying about the trinity.
their translation of john 1:1 is not only a complete farce but falls apart upon closer examination of their own beliefs.
the insertion of the phrase a god, instead of god is just a clear misinterpretation.

JH
My sister is a baptist, and she is trying so hard to make me understand that the trinity exists. They see Jesus as all mighty God. Thats not what we learned as witnesses. Is our bible really screwed up, or is it that we take the verses that pleases us to prove a point. When both sides hold on to what they believe, then it always finishes in a stalemate. Why can't the bible be easy to understrand. Why is it that so many people searching for the truth can't find it?
