Forgiveness is something that God asks of us. If we forgive others, we shall also be forgiven. Since it is so important to forgive, I wonder if the congregation forgives our faults, or if they mark down in a file all our wrong doings that they can find. Do you think that the Watchtower is a model in forgiveness?

two attractive young ladies in their early 20s are standing there, don't even make eye contact.
one reaches into her bookbag and pulls out the lasts watchtower and asnake magazines and proceeds to ramble incoherently for the next 30 seconds.

Lottery Tickets & Gambling
by JH inwhen you were active, did you buy any lottery tickets?
i know a xjw who told me that he never stopped buying lottery tickets, even when he was active.
he always asked somebody else to go get them for him, so that he wouldn't be seen buying them.

He always asked somebody else to go get them for him, so that he wouldn't be seen buying them. An elder told me that, if a person gives you a lottery ticket, that was ok and you could accept it, but it was illegal as a witness to buy one. I found that hypocrite. Did you gamble when you were active?

What Double Standards Do JW's Practice?
by minimus inone double standard that always got to me was how a body of elders would talk about how a brother needed to "qualify" for some privilege by being a good example for weekend service and yet a number of elders would hardly ever go out in field service at all!
or how they would use 2 hours to literally gossip about everyone in the congregation, and then give a local needs talk on the need of not talking about the brothers and minding our own business.........what double standards got to you?

They tell you that you have to be a Witness in order to be saved, but then they never give you the impression that you are 100% sure of being saved.

IDEA FOR THOSE EXPECTING A VISIT
by Mary ini thought of a reply you may want to try if you do in fact get a visit from the elders on dec. 25th.
if they indicate that you can be df'd or da'd for celebrating christmas, you could ask them why it was okay for the organization to celebrate it back in the early days and that it was endorsed by brother russell and brother rutherford even though they knew it was a pagan holiday.
there's a quote in one of the old publications where rutherford actually talks about the paganism and commercialism of christmas and then goes on to say "we might as well join in with the rest of the world in celebrating this holiday.

Elders shoot first, and ask questions later. Celebrating Christmas is an automatic End to your journey is watchtower land.

Saving for the future - The results
by hippikon inan old jw freind from way back contacted me and asked to borrow a sizable amount of money to get out of deb.
he realy sounded desperate and i offerd him an oppertunity to earn some money wich he gladly accepted.
but what realy pisses me off is that as a jw's they don't save ( or study) for the future.

Follow your experience because like you said
I would like to help but I see too many problems
Just tell him no. If he is a friend, he will understand. -

If he is still a JW, why don't the brothers help him out. It is their obligation to help a brother in need no matter what. That just shows how many lack love for one another. If you pass him money, you show more love than the rest of the congregation, but you are taking a chance in losing the money, if he can't pay you back.

Gasoline Price in your area
by JH inyesterday alone the price of gasoline went up 9 cents a liter here in eastern canada passing from 68 to 77 cents a liter.
a one day jump of 9 cents a liter is equal to about 40 cents a gallon.
so now we pay 77 cents a liter or 3.50$ a canadian gallon.

Overseer's Visit & Hypocrisy
by JH inwhy is it that when the overseer visits the congregation, that just about everybody shows up to the meetings and they all go in the field service?
a whole week of endless zeal just to prove that they are all so spiritual.
is gone, they all come back to normal.

Why is it that when the overseer visits the congregation, that just about everybody shows up to the meetings and they all go in the field service? A whole week of endless zeal just to prove that they are all so spiritual. And when the C.O. is gone, they all come back to normal. Twice a year this show goes on. I wonder who the witnesses fear the most, God or the overseer? It seems as if they have to please the overseer when he visits, and show him all the progress they made since his last visit. How hypocrite did you act when the Circuit overseer was in town? How low did you stoop to have his favour?
