  we had an elderly pioneer/ms in our hall and he used to like to rattle the elders.

  he liked using the "n" word in his comments.

  he one time started to comment about the "ni##er pool" that he would observe among the poorer blacks.

  Once, during our hall's quick build, an elder from our congregation told me that Witnesses don't belong to unions.

  I told him that was funny because my father, also an elder, was a union member and had been for years!

  Then, silence.

  International Conventions for 2014 - Landover, MD - What is an International Convention?

  have been out of touch for a while, i see that there is an 'international' convention this year in landover, md (fed ex field) and there are no english conventions in either richmond or hampton, va. what is an 'international convention', is it merely a consolidation of all the other conventions meant to whip up some fervor amongst the masses?.

  They used to hold it at the Capital Center in Landover back in the 1980s. Indoors and airconditioned!

  Then we got sent to Veteran's Stadium in Philadelphia. Outdoors and hot! It was quite the adjustment.

  Yes, you must apply to go. My parents have done so. I laughed and asked my mother why you needed to apply, why not just go. She said they needed to make sure that there was enough room for everyone!

  She also said that applications involved how many years of service and what privileges one holds are taken into account. So this seems to be a consolidation of the uberfaithful.

  As far as just any old person attending, I don't know how they would stop them, but I'm sure they will have some gestapo tactics in place.

  its been a while that i came here due to so many ups and downs emotionally.. :(.

  crazy that the family is so divided now that we cannot sit and talk (even though we pretend while attending meetings).

  all i can think is this line from hotel california - "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"... love the family so much that dont feel like hurting them.. this is killing me.. regards, miss confused!.

  Sorry to hear you are hurting. Because we love them so much, family can be the greatest joy and the greatest pain.

  Please take care of yourself. I've always been partial to bubblebaths, 30 minutes of squeaky clean relaxation. Then the world sometimes seems more manageable.

  JW parents are CRAZY

  hello again, for those who don't know me i'm a 15 year old boy.

  and recently my mom is displaying symptoms of demensia, she left the stove on today and she yells at us for watching commercials on t.v that are "demonic" because today there was a commercial on television for the new 300 movie and she started yelling at my sister to turn it off, and then i was listening to coldplay as a playlist while doing my school work and she started yelling at me to turn the demonic music off.

  she says "demonic" this "demonic" that.

  How did a social worker become involved? This person could be an ally. Right now the violence seems like it's the biggest problem, although it might be the JW stuff that is aggravating these violent tendencies. A social worker will be more interested in violence and violent cursing than in the JW stuff, so keep in mind her perspective.

  I thought it was telling that you said you were TIRED. It speaks to desperation. Please know that you can leave the religion, but doing so can be tricky and take time. Stick around here and read and learn and don't do anything desperate that you might regret. Have a plan.

  Combatting Agoraphobia in NONJWland

  my daughter starts school soon.

  and i cant help but be afraid of the big bad world....the freedom we have is scary and im irrationally afraid of my kids getting in with the wrong crowd....in jwland it wasnt so bad becaus you felt safe.

  so now i know that safe haven is actually bs how do i get it out of my head?

  Kindergarten will be lovely. Your daughter will meet all of her new classmates and then slowly find the ones she enjoys the most.

  Birthday parties are a great way to meet the other children and their parents. In most schools invitations must be handed out to everyone in the class or none at all. It's a ver good policy that allows no one to be left out and everybody to meet everybody.

  If your daughter is lucky enough to have a birthday in the beginning of the school year, then you get in on the very beginning of that process. You meet all of the kids early in the year so you can steer her away from some and make private playdates with the others that you approve of.

  So, definitely have a birthday party and invite everyone. That's how you control her friends.

  I would love to have the time to leisurely work on a mathematics degree. I teach elementary school mathematics and I still find patterns and relationships that I ve never seen before.
