Can you imagine living into the New Order, and then all of a sudden be completely beaten down with all of these Pharasitical rules? I'd up and smack the sh*t out of an "Overseer" on the first day!! I couldn't take being talked down to on such a level, it is beneath human dignity.

I have to disagree with Alan above....I grew up a JW. I was not allowed to do ANYTHING outside of the KH, could only play in my own yard, NEVER played with my neighbour's kids (Same age) because they were "worldly" and "bad association." Everything not of the WTBTS was "Worldly" and forbidden.....freakin everything!!!! Standard answers from parents on 99% of anything that didn't involve the JW's was "it's not necessary, it's just worldly pursuit and/or those people are bad association. Bad Association spoils useful habits....blah, blah, blah, blah."

Who are you trying to kid? I'd take a guess and say 98% of the people and/or families I knew of as JW's were self-righteous a-hole douchebags who couldn't stop judging other people if they tried. I agree that most of this is subtly brainwashed into them, but still. Hell, even associating with other JW's was forbidden, because they might not be "Spiritual enough." What the hell?????

I openly call them disfunctional social retards and my disdain for everything JW is getting worse the older I get and the more I read from their new and improved "WatchTowers" which spew nothing but hate and contempt for everything non-JW, rally against higher education in order to keep everyone stupid and non-thinking, and the ever-increasing elevation of the F&DS above Jesus (Idolotry) is so overpoweringly sickening that I nearly barf when I skim through some of the newer articles.

But I grew up in a JW hell, so maybe I'm a little prejudice??

Ok, it was Sunday. This was the day after our large N'oreaster here in Pennsylvania. We got 16" of snow in one day. I kept up with it all on Saturday, so Sunday I only had to do my mailbox at the end of my driveway in my development. My retired neighbours across the street didn't keep up as much as their snow-blower didn't start up.

My "worldly" neighbour and I were talking across the street with each other, and after I completed shoveling out my mailbox I casually walked across the street to shovel theirs out as well. The entire time, the "worldly" neighbour's next door Elder family were outside shoveling their driveway, and were nearly complete. The mid-40's Elder father was no more than 15 feet away and I was sure listening in. (I don't think they know I used to be JW, different congregations). Anyway, my "worldly" neighbour was going on-and-on as retired ladies do about things and was thanking me genuinely for helping her and her disabled husband out. I looked right over at this Elder as he stood around gawking and doing next to nothing as his family shoveled out. Oh he'd sling a shovel-full once in a while, but not much. I couldn't help but think of the irony of myself helping someone out, and here this "Prince among men" who is to be a "shining example" doesn't so much as lift a finger to help out his neighbours. My kids also came over and helped with the shoveling. His kids looked like the depressed social retards that they are. Actually, that goes for him and his entire family, who are known as "The Vampires" by the entire neighbourhood due to their absolutely reclusive behaviour and the fact that they let their house go nearly into shambles. Seriously, you probably only see his wife and children about once a year. He could slay them and eat them and no one would know!! The only time I see him is when he comes home from work, around the same time as myself.

What a fine shephard indeed!! "By their love you will know them......." My neighourhood thinks they are pale-skinned freaks who don't even bother to wave, but they'll go into other neighbourhoods and knock on doors on Saturday morning; disgusting.

when one brother, who was a very close friend of mine for the whole duration of my time as a witness, realized that i not only wasn't going to meetings any longer, but had very serious doubts and questions, he made an interesting, and, i'll admit, rather unsettling comment.

he was aware that, though i was missing from the hall, i was still close to a half dozen or so members, associating with some of them on a more than a once or twice weekly basis, and that the majority of these were having doubts of their own.

he had me to his home for "a talk.

Wow....just wow. I'm with the person above that stated that if THIS blatant display of Idolotry and self-worship doesn't wake-up a few of the rank and file zombies, I don't know what will. Imagine, actually stating that the WT is what Matthew is referencing in the New Testament? This is as ludicrious as saying that Rutherford and Knorr were the new Elijah, etc that they teach up in Gilead. Disgusting!!!!

Gotta love the caption as well....stating how that Great Crowd is merely "prospective worshippers". You're NEVER going to be good enough, got it????

My parents (DOD 1999, 2007) must be spinning in their graves!!! Between the constant focus on OBEY, OBEY, OBEY the Faithful & Discreet Slave and never question, to now having this disgusting (and surprisingly Bablyonish) image elevated above Jesus, I am more and more convinced as the months pass and more WatchTower's come out spewing this man-worship that I made the correct decision to leave the relgion I was raised in.

I visit a local Advent Lutheran Church that my in-laws attend from time to time and the focus is always on God (they even use the name Jehovah occasionally) Jesus, and the good of the congregation and helping others as Jesus would. What is the focus of the Organization today? It's not even really peddling literature for money anymore, it's about keeping the brain-washed zombies from getting an education, checking facts on the internet, not using cell phones, keeping the R & F scared to death, and pushing any worldly friends or family away if they reject the F&DS.

I swear, they are getting worse as time goes on.......how can people not begin to see this? Maybe alot more will soon, and we'll have an influx of "Newbies" who can't take it any more and crack under the strain.

YHWH help them all.

Something My GF Noticed.........

today, i was hanging out with my girlfriend and we were bored and cold, so we went over to my mom's kingdom hall just to show her what a cult looks like.

i was demonstrating to her how the witnesses use vague, emotion driven speech to try to conjure up the strong feelings in their members so they could control them easier, but i didn't pick this tiny tidbit up.

we kind of listened to the beat of the kingdom melody and we noticed something very odd.... the kingdom songs' cadences are the same rythmic cadences a hypnotist would use to hypnotize a person..

This is a great point. One of the first things I noticed when I first attended an Advent Lutheran service was how much more upbeat the music was; instead of lulling you to sleep, it actually woke you up.

Also, I noticed how Jesus is praised and God is actually worshipped in other churches....whereas the JW's songs are all about obediance, the F&DS, preaching, etc, etc.

1.) Ask blow-hard Elder/CO/DO after talk if they have ever actually read or experienced what they just put down, what for them to say, "Of course not."

2.) Proceed to quote from Paul (I think) who stated something to the affect, "For when you pass judgement on your fellow man, you condemn yourself".....also in Proverbs we are told, "He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him."

Both of the above scriptures show up the negative speaker as a judgemental Pharisee.

So Everything Was Going Good Until...

i drew a blank on a particular question.

i basically had a talk with my parents over the weekend.

they've been jw's since the 50's and pops been an elder since 83. so i knew it was gonna be hard, but i basically told them to their face that i am no longer going to be a jw and gave a few reasons why.

Ah yes....the age old question of, "What about the Earth?" Here are my thoughts.

1. Revelations states that , "Look!! I am creating a NEW heavens and a new earth, as the old have passed away," or some such. I am paraphrasing but you know which scriptures I am referring to. If that is the case, then I'm sure we are to inhabit both, but how??

2. This brings us to "The How". As in, how are we going to be in heaven, AND on earth at the same time? Well, look what we used to say about Jesus, about Him not only being a great teacher, but also an EXAMPLE for all of us "foot-step followers." It is my opinion that while yes we may be that Great Crowd singing praises before the Great Throne in heaven, we also have the ability as spirit-creatures (or angels if you must) to be able to materialize and de-materialize from physical human beings to angels and back again, being able to go back and forth, just as the angels and also Jesus himself was able to do.

3. Proof of my above theory?? Easy. Jesus said, and I paraphrase, that the resurrected "would be as the angels, neither being married or being taken into marriage." A-ha!! A clue Watson!! Jesus Himself stated that the resurrected would be as the angels, and we all know angels are able to transform from spirit-creatures into human form. Proof: the account of how some of the angels came down to earth, took on human form, and took wives for themselves. After the flood God forbid them (or possibly removed their power to do so) as punishment for this inter-mingling of the seperate species at this time. I believe this power will be restored after Armaggedon.

I think other branches of Christianity believe something similar, that is that once you die and become an angel, and after the great battle of Armaggedon, that the earth would then become an Eden-like Paradise again and we could go back and forth....a literal heaven where God is, and of course Paradise on earth restore, governed over by God, Jesus, and the 144,000 Kings under God & His Son.

Am I crazy, or is this plausible?

They "can give gifts on any day of the year"... But do they?

how many times we had heard from jw (commenting on christmass, mothers day or bithdays) "they dont need a pecial day set to give gifts, because the can give it on any day" .... but whats your experience if you compare jw and non jw ... are they really giving?.

my sons (7) example:.

he has non jw grandparents: gets all kinds of gifts all the time, sweets, magazines, toys,.

Ah yes....more double-speak from the high and mighty!!

Growing up as a JW, I have seen and heard this hypocrisy all to often. See, here's the reasons why JW's don't give gifts or even think to do so:

1. JW's are taught that giving too many gifts is a sign of materialism.

2. Is a showy display of one's means.

3. Is a sign of spiritual weakness (because you should be giving all of your "extra" money to the Organization), etc.

4. Gift giving is associated with "worldy/pagan" holidays, so they automatically fear being seen as worldly. Refer to #3.

5. Gifts are only temporary, Bible wisdom is FOREVER, so what is the best gift to give someone? Why, a free home Bible Study of course!

6. JW's are too cheap to actually purchase nice gifts, to they make crappy "home-made" gifts if anything at all.

7. Some JW's are so dirt poor from being a janitor and giving all of their "extra" money to the Org that there is hardly any money to have your suits pressed, much less give gifts to other people.

8. Your money should being going to the Org. Did I say that already?

New understanding of the Generation??

apparently jack barr, member of the gb, has given a new interpretation of the generation in one of his speaches i.e.

that the generation can apply to those who knew someone who lived in 1914..... will it never end????

I think everyone needs to hold on here......I think we are overstating this just a little bit. Let me explain.

I was ALWAYS taught that there have been annointed learning from annointed (JW's, just not called that) ever since Jesus' time. And yes, it would kind of be like an apostolic succession.

It's like this......it started with the apostles...then knowledge was passed down through the OVERLAPPING Generations....along came Martin Luther, then Calvin, then Miller, Barbour, Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, and finally down to our current Governing Body. I was taught that this is the way it was, and that now the Light is getting brighter and we are finally able to see some of this "lineage" of Truth.

However, what Jack Barr is stating about the Generation of 1914 is COMPLETELY different that what was in the WT and Awake! of May 1984 and up thru until 1995, 2008. We were distinctly told, PROMISED even, that THE Generation of 1914 that SAW or were born during the events that occurred during those times (1914-1919) would be the ones to see the Great Tribulation, and hence Armaggedon and then the New Order ushered in. This doctrine set a clear timetable for the End Times.

I just wanted to clarify that JW's ALWAYS felt that knowledge was passed down from generation of annointed to generation of annointed, that is NOT "New Light". What is "New Light" is Jack's statement of there now being more than "one" generation from the time of Christ's invisible parousia till the Great Tribulation/Armaggedon/New Order.
