creepy thinking
by Vivamus ini just saw president bush on the tv.
he was saying in his very slow way of speaking "we must defend ourselves against the enemies of freedom"and "a great evil is upon the world".
and all of a sudden i had this thought "what if the jw are right..."

JWs are obsessed with knowing, learning, finding out, professing, declaring WHAT and WHEN, like they have some inside secret track.
It just doesn't matter.
The time invested in such nonsense would be better put to use showing love and sensitivity to the people around you.
(quoting tia)
ive just been reading thru this thread and tia youve nailed it! my sentiments exactly

Embarrassing moments on stage
by freedom96 inas a kid growing up with an elder father, from time to time we would have parts on stage at the meeting or assembly.
my dad had a certain talk he must have delivered to a couple dozen different congregations, about families.
during the talk, he would have my sister and i cause a scene during the talk, in which we would ultimately run on stage argueing.

one talk that made an impression on me was given by a very earnest young brother, whos slip of the tounge produced the admonishment to "PUMMELL YOUR BOTTY"
the audience was in hysterics and one sister was taken aside by and elder after the meeting for not being able to control the giggles - thats how funny it was
wish you all were there! -classic moment

i was never baptised and therefore never could be deepfried (new zealand speak for d'fd)
one thing i would like to point out is that being raised as a jw you have a 'superimposed' conscience and when you 'go out' the shit really hits the fan and you wild bcos you think 'well if im gonna be bad i mite as well be really out there'. then its later on you realise you cant live like that and slowly develop your own natural born conscience. my experince anyway.

question for parents
by musky ini have small children.
i was raised a witness, so i never celebrated holidays.

such a tricky subject for us with kids
i have an eight year old and tho i was never baptised i did bring me daughter up to have jw beliefs up untill about six. i could probly never bring myself to put up a xmas tree or hold a bday party it would just feel too weird (i was brought up in the truth myself and went wild at 16 and had a baby to a wordly)
however im kind of lucky in that my girls father can take care of the pagan celebrations with his family so the onus is not all on me, although i do by pressies at the appropriate times and on her last bday we treated her to dinner at a restaurant and a movie + pressies. luckily she is an easygoing kid and i think kids in general are pretty adaptable (+ i dont think many kids would complain about xtra fun + not having to be so 'different' anymore)
there just thought i'd put in my bit!

brutalized toddlers
by little witch indoes anyone remember the advice from from the stage, encouraging mothers to remove babies from the room when they were hungry?.
how about, wooden spoons to beat toddlers into submission, preferably in front of the congegation, as to set an example in disipline?
was this just in our hall, or was it from the borg?

Serious Pet Peeves
by patio34 indon't mean to be gripey, but would like to vent about two observations i've made lately:.
1) a mother whose child wouldn't follow her soon enough at the grocery store.
she said "okay, goodbye!

my dub sister and brother-in-law were both virgins till marriage and my sister being unused to sleeping with a man woke up in the middle of the night and beat the shit out of the 'intuder' in the bed. lol
