Did I die?
by benext inlast week at the kingdom hall, my mother was met by an elder who said: "i'm sorry to hear about benext, she found that puzzling then another mournful face who told her they'd help her in any way they could.
the gossip had gotten around that i no longer "went to my meetings like i should.
" i've been inactive for a year and haven't been to a meeting for several months.

I thought "they" (you know the collective they when you can't remember who it was LOL) were growing face/body parts in petrie dishes and the like...remember the mouse with an ear on its back? eewww
I think it would be abit freaky, well alot freaky, to have someone elses eyebrows or lips though. Not denying there may be benefits, but its just weirding me out LOL

We don't have it downunder yet, as far as I am aware...but with the steadily increasing number of Burge King and Starbuck franchises I am sure it wont take long. It looks blech to me though.
Now a nice chip buttie....mmmmmmmmmmm! *shows her pommie heritage**

{{hugs}} Pettygrudger, that guilt can be laid on pretty thick can't it? Never seems to go back the other way though, huh?
If you didn't laugh ...you'd go mad.
When I was DF and still going to meetings, it was like being a "dead girl walking" with all your 'former' brothers and sisters sneaking glances at the wicked girl sitting down the back. Kind of like the gawk factor at a motor accident. "did you see her? She's the one who turned her back on Jehovah! How dreadful for her family, they must be so disappointed." Blech.

If First Contact Happens/Atkins Diet
by metatron ini am struck with how frequent and bold ufo incidents are becoming:.
i am also greatly impressed with the recent vindication of the atkins diet in a. major study - and what it tells us about the state of human knowledge and science.. what stuns me is that this diet has been explicitly described and debated for.
about 30 years - and yet, its proof took decades - with some 'experts' still refusing.

I have a few friends that have been using the Atkins diet. There is little disputing that it can work, but the only info I have turned up on it is pretty negative. Something about really depleting the body of calcium, by being in a state of ketosis you dramatically increase the acidity level in your body which can quite quickly impact on bone density etc. I am not an expert by any means but it was enough to give me cause for concern. I wouldn't do the diet.
I wouldn't however rule out First Contact

Why must JW's buy their way into God's Kingdom??
by WingCommander inthis has been eating at me for a while.
why do jw's have to go door to door?
if christ's life was a ransom sacrifice for us, than why must we "buy" our way into the new kingdom (paradise, etc)???

WingCommander, thought provoking isn't it??!! why indeed. I am sure that while I was an active JW I could have had an excellent rebuttal for you from the scriptures. Now I just think it is a great way to keep people in control.

Mystery of life, or my ramblings
by Vivamus ini have been thinking back on the moment my grandma died.
it's a strange thing, seeing someone pass away.
it truly made me think on the meaning of life.

Viv, I can relate to your feelings on being present when a loved one dies. I was with my hubby's grandfather when he died. It is very hard to describe the peace that came over his body with those last breaths. So much pain was wiped from his flesh. It was hard to see that pain temporarily transfered to those he left...his wife and children and grandchildren. Maybe that is why many people seek answers to those questions you refer to. Pain is a strong motivator.
I don't have the answers either LOL but I have stopped asking the questions, I now subscribe to the Athiest School of Non-belief

When You Hear Someone Say "The Truth"...
by minimus inwhen a witness talks about a person not being "in the truth", does that get to you?
or if they self-righteously proclaim that "at least, they're in the truth and not worldly", does that push any buttons?

City Fan...the look can speak volumes, can't it?!
I don't refer to it as The Truth anymore (and isn't it funny how when you say "The Truth" it is capitalised in your mind?! or is thatjust me? LOL) but call it the church when talking to my family that are still in. I particularly like the Borg tag...says so much with so little
