Do you think the JW's ever will or could go the Mormon route?
by BettyHumpter inwhat i mean is the mormon's have their own set of wacky beliefs and are a pretty insular group, engage in a form of door to door ministry but don't discourage higher education.
in fact, the handful of mormons i went to school with were pushed to excel academically and go to college.
yeah there are ex mormons but for a great many, going to university doesn't turn them into atheists.

Smiles - I love this argument. I’ve argued this point extensively, in the past, and the idea that the Mormon church is bigger is simply not true. Even with a 50% JW PIMO rate they would probably break even with LDS membership. Please read the following links.

Why would JWs want to go the Mormon route. They already have a bigger more engaged following. In the present situation, with covid, they have feared better than the LDS. -

by joe134cd inthis experience highlights the level of my indoctrination, after 10 years of been a pomo.
a few months back my gf was hinting to me about what we could do for my birthday.
to be honest i just had no idea, that i even had a birthday.

To be honest I just had no idea, that I even had a birthday. It wasn’t until she frustratingly came out and stated to me it was my birthday that I realised what was going on. Although she was understanding, she felt as though I didn’t want to shear this occasion with her. I guess it just goes to show the different mindsets.
Although I never stated this to her, I really can’t be bothered with birthdays and Christmas. I actually see this as an advantage of been a former JW. I kind of feel embarrassed having a Birthday. But I conceded to a restaurant meal. It goes to show the level of my conditioning.

I was Transitioning at the time from PIMO to POMO. I remember having a discussion with the accounts servant about money coming in to money going out. He outrightly admitted to me that there was no way the donations were covering the cost for the literature. I stated that he felt embarrassed at the amount of money publishers were giving. This was at least 10 years ago, before the advent of JW.borg.

Immidiate regret. Third rule broken, namely: passion rules reason
by Judgerussellford ini chose world events as a topic because it was the only one that seemed fitting enough.
i left work early (if you can call 445-3 early) so i could get some shopping done, fill up, grab a scratcher for the wife and be on my way home.
after i filled the tank i strolled into the tiny room of the gas station, to find myself behind an argument just started.

I don’t live in the U.S. But in the 4 times I have visited there. I have found them to be very rude, aggressive, and not prepared to put up with someone else. Despite how big or small the event may be. I heard this joke the other day: “how many Americans does it take to change a light bulb. None! Because the world revolves around them.” I certainly think there could be some truth in that statement.
So does all this self entitlement, aggression, and fighting over quarters, make them a more happier cohesive society.
nationwide, almost one in five people (47.1 million) in the U.S. are living with a mental health condition. That number increased by about 1.5 million over last year's report. About 10% of youth in the U.S have severe depression. This was highest among youth who identify as more than one race, at 12%.

Its sobering to think about.

Have you driven in a country that drives on the opposite side of the road?
by FondaCox indid you drive?
if so, how nerve wracking was it for you?
i'd be terrified i'd stop concentrating for a moment and out of habit make a right turn at a red light into oncoming traffic.

How far do we get away from 1914
by PimoElder inhow far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.

Ok on reading what people have formerly written on here. I see the “Adventist” thing has already been mentioned twice before.
