Tech49 on HOURS, TIME, and REPORTS
by Tech49 ini thought i would share some of my observations on counting field service time, reports, etc.
and how those reports are viewed, to those that are still so fixated on numbers.. i served as secretary on the service committee for many years, and have seen it all!.
i was really disheartened when wt changed the requirement for aux pioneering to allow for 30 hrs, instead of the 50 it has been for so long.

Great post Tech49
I had no hours to report one month, and an elder asked me to submit a couple hours & just do those hours the follow month. I had always reported honestly at the stage. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable lying about FS time & would rather report a big fat zero rather than lie. I stopped reporting my hours after that even though I still went out witnessing. When asked by the same elder why I hadn't been reporting my time, I told him that Jehovah knows how many hours I do so I don't see why its anybody else's business needs how many hours I do... They left me alone after that...
A close friend of mine used to put in a report for both her parents even though they hadn't been to the meeting for 2 years. When's asked her why she reported FS time when they obviously didn't go, she said her parents would beat her up if she didn't report their 'fake' time.

Circuit overseers acting like bigshots
by d ini always felt that circuit overseers always acted as if they were some type of celebrity at the hall.people damn near worshipped these people.
i always felt like we should worship god and not these people or the governing bodyw while i was still in.. this was probably my process of eventually leaving..

There was one CO that was decent. He came to visit us (my mum is sick & in a wheel chair) & I had stared missing meetings at that time coz of the bad treatment from the elders and others in the cong. Both my mum & I were able to freely express the pain & hurt they had caused us and which he was so discusted in the 'lack of love' they showed to us. It actually bought tears to his eyes, hearing what we had put up with over the years. He gave our elders a dressing down & also told me that he had warned them that they (the elders) had to change otherwise 'heads would roll'. He had kids that were disfellowshipped and seemed to to be so understanding. He invited me to the Sunday meeting and asked me to sit with him & his wife as i hated sitting on my own. It was the first time in the 10 years of being in that congregation that so many ppl came & spoke with me. I was literally surrounded by them all trying to welcome me (obviously trying to impress the CO). They treated us well after that - for about a month - I guess old habits die hard. I saw him a couple years later at the DA. I was inactive for a while by this stage. He asked me 'how things are going?' I told him it wasn't going well and that if it wasn't for a close friend, I wouldn't be here. I tried to explain to him what was going on & how I was struggling to cope & he didn't want to know. It was like he was no longer interested. I guess even those that set out to do good either change or step down. I think he was one of those that changed... For worse...

Question Regarding WT Study Edition Aug 15, 2013
by okage inokay, there are two passages in the august 2013 study edition that have me burning with a question.
usually when the pdf's are made available, i like to count how many times they use words like "disfellowship" or "organization.
" here are the two passages:.

I never realised the crap they were feeding me all my life (3rd gen born in). It wasn't until I came across this site (by accident) a few months ago that the penny dropped... I guess yr conditioned to trust & not question what they tell you... After all, they kept telling us 'it is the troof'...

Odd KH Wedding
by earthfire inmy youngest sister was married last sunday and i was actually invited.
not to the reception of course but all of us ex-jw relatives had our own party so it was still a great family reunion!
i'm one of 6 siblings (2 step siblings, 1 half, and 2 whole :-) anyway, this was not my first time going to a wedding of a sibling and being an ex-witness.

We've had many Sunday weddings here... And yes, we had to evacuate the KH in time for the next cong's meeting...

Another Newbie
by Skinnedsheep ini recently came to the realization that the organization is corrupt and is false.
my story is similar to many i think.
i was raised in the religion, pioneered and served as an elder for a number of years.

Jws and urban myths!
by Julia Orwell injws sure love urban myths.
the jws have their own collection built up over many years, part of their own unique worldwide jw culture.
i've come across the same ones in america that i've heard in australia, and they pass from legend to myth and finally reality as quoted from the platform.

Then there's this one.... Someone threw a jw book out of a moving train & hit someone on the head & then they became a jw...

were friendships in other congregations discouraged?
by hoser ini had a good friend with a lot of common interests but he was in a congregation about 40 miles away.
we did a lot together with both of our families.
until we had a local needs part about association with ones not in our own congregation.

We had nothing like that... So long as u associated with jw's, it was ok...
