a few days ago, i tracked down the only semi-real friend i had as a witness.
i called her at work and left a message.
she emailed me back, and seemed amenable to talking even though i am df.. she made a comment, "come back to jah.
First, thanks for the link JT.....very interesting. Explains a lot. Beryl, true friendship is really about one thing: communication. Friendship, is about the freedom to communicate honestly and openly with trust. And of course honest and open communication opens a whole plethora of things which friendship shares. So, you lost nothing. Only a "semi-real friend". Which isn't a friend at all. Use your energies to make new friends who understand as you do, and are open to learning and sharing. Out with the old...and in with the new. JamesT
i was two years old when i was adopted into a jw family.
my adopted family put me into home schooling from first grade to twelve grade i graduated.
but, i taught myself basically because anytime i would even get on problem wrong i would get beat and sometimes put in a corner.
Qwerty, What a sad story of much abuse. It has left me speechless. I really don't know what to say. How fortunate that you now have a loving home, your two sons and your wife. JamesT
ok so chevy asked me to put my story on here, a lot of you will probably find it boring but will post it anyway.
am now 24 and live in kent, england with my boyfriend dean, we are really happy together in fact i have never been so happy and we plan to marry later on this year.
i was brought up a jw from a baby by my mother, my father was never really bothered about it all and my mum fell away, divorced him and married another guy and then went back to the witnesses, he was not a witness and they met at my mums place of work, she was a dj for a local radio station and he was a chauffeur.
Thanks for your story Matt. Was not boring at all. Well written in fact. Ever think about writing for a living? Very sad about your mother. JamesT
i've been expressing myself about some of my doubts about god being an active creature in our life and my doubts about christ being the son of god.
i didn't know the young grandkids were listening sometimes when i was talking to the adults.
my daughter was telling my wife that her 10 year old son was crying to her because he was afraid of dying since god and christ wasn't real.

Where did I say that my belief system is more valuable or viable? I have no "belief system". People can believe in God anyway they choose. Some of us though, rather than just blindly following others, do some researching, as Undecided seems to be doing. There are people who are not afraid to discover truth; not afraid to have their sacred cows slaughtered. There are also those who are very much afraid; and do not want their cherished beliefs to be exposed as false. Even though the information is there, they choose to not know. To know would cause too much disruption in their life, and the reorganization would take too much effort. I did not use the term "intellectually lazy", you did, but it certainly fits. Is it condescending to say that there are those who make the effort to uncover what is false and what is true, and there are those who sleep through it? Why get pistoff at me for stating facts? You tell me....is it more noble to actively seek Truth? JamesT
here is the letter of disassociation of one who was "my best" student when serving the borg.
we studied together for more than 2 years.
she got baptized and was doing pioneering hours slaving the borg.since my disassociation she has been scrutinizing the borg and she has been out for a while.now she is keen to disassociate herself from this cult.. so, here is her letter, and i hope that it can serve as an example for those who think about doing the same.. 1 march 2003. .
Welcome Titanic, Good letter. Very clean and to the point. Questioning can be very educational. That's how Socrates taught. On another note, I can't help but ask: do you ever have a sinking feeling? JamesT

Karl Marx was correct in saying that "religion was the opiate of the masses."
Few are willing to have their drug of choice taken away; and is it our place to do that?
As regards family and the search for truth, I would ask them if they would be interested in hearing information that may expose their cherished beliefs as bogus? Or would they rather just not know? Would they rather just stay warm and cuddly in their blankie of false beliefs?
If people consciously choose to keep their heads in the sand....so be it. They may come around at some later time.
My sense is that all religions are false and man made. This does not mean that there is not a true Source of this marvelous universe, that we have come to call "God". It is just infinitely beyond such trivial little belief systems.
Letting go of what is false, may allow us to come to embrace Truth, by removing the "glass darkly".

.
is there any basis for these claims?.
http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/index.html
Thanks for the link. Yes, there is a basis for these claims. I am currently reading The Christ Conspiracy, by Acharya S., which is mentioned on the site. This is a very well researched book. It's clear, to some, that the Witnesses is only a tiny branch on a diseased tree of religion. Sadly many who read Raymond Franz's book(s) which exposed the Witnesses will refuse to come near books and information that exposes the Christians belief system as a whole. Few are willing to have their religious rug pulled out from under them. Few, want to know truth that bad. JamesT The free man is he who does not fear to go to the end of his thought. -- Leon Blum
