My sister is DF'd
by Badger inok...my sis is a few years younger than me...she was a loyal jw and even took to counseling me for things like watching movies.
then, she began to snap.
after her child was born, she saw that her husband was really, really abusive (he stopped being physical a long time ago, but he wasn't any nicer...he even forbade her from seeing our worldly mom.

When my kids were young, they're now 27 and 25, they had to go to the meetings with their dad and step mom. I was disfellowshipped and completely out. After a weekend with their JW stepmom they practically tripped over each other when they got home to my house to turn the Smurfs on. Their dad was physically and verbally abusing them and their stepmom (and me when I was married to him) but by all means they couldn't watch the Smurfs. Needless to say my children are not Wittys.

Twisted Life
by Mysterygirl ini just thought that i would share my life as a jw.
i was born into this cult in 1973. i was born as a hermaphodite (both sexes) this was of great shock to my parents, apparently the confided in one of the elders asking him what thay should do?
his respones was that i should be made male (the doctors at the time said i should be female) my parent took the avice of the elder and i was the made to be a male.. as i was growing up i beged my parents to allow me to be the person that god had wanted me to be but the elders kept reasuring me and my parent that god wanted me to be a male so that i could one day be a elder or s/overser.. in my teen years it became very apparent that my parents had made a mistake as i would act in a very female way.

Mystery Girl, I am so sorry that these morons had control of your life. It's times like this that I hope there is Karma so these elders can get theirs. It was also atrocious what they did to the poor unsuspecting girl that you married, she deserved to know the potential problems. I know it will take determination on your part to heal from so many years of being who you weren't suppose to be. Please keep trying, I hope to read more of your post and watch you blossom as you take control of your own destiny. I agree with some of the others that you should contact Dateline or some other type programs. You mentioned that you didn't learn to write etc. did your parents not send you to school? No one has the right to ruin someones life so badly.

i am not disfellowshipped or disassociated.
the people in the local congregation know very little about my life nowadays.

That is so rude!!! If you are going by what the bible says, the bible says to treat "them" as a man of the world. Wouldn't a normal person say thank you to a "man of the world" if he/she held the door for you? Such crap.
I am disfellowshipped and have my niece staying with me who was raised a JW but never was baptized and does not go to meetings. She in fact is quite disillusioned with it (especially now that she has been staying with me). She is 26 years old. My JW brother wanted to have her stay at his house overnight for a visit and I had to meet him at a local mall to bring her to him. When we met him he gave her a hug and wouldn't even look at me, left me standing there like an idiot (not me him) lol. Finally we had to walk to my car to get her stuff, as we walked in stone silence, I guess it got to be too much for him, so he came up with a profound statement that went something like this. "Have you been dying your hair". I guess "hows the weather" was too obvious. I think being a Witness makes you Socially Challanged and they honestly don't know how to act. Plus they have to give you the proper punishment. Only to me it works just the opposite, he looked and sounded ridiculous. It turns out he made her leave because she said she didn't want to attend the meetings while she stayed at his house.

Strangest thing you were called on the carpet for.
by Icansaylucky ini would like to hear some of the strangest or most ridiculous thing you got in trouble with the elders for.
here is mine.. back in the early 70's i was married at the age of 18, typical witness thing to do.
my husband who was 6 years older than i ruled me like a overly strict father.

Subtle change in UK Blood Policy
by caspian init seems that the latest directive from his at the branch office is the following.. .
hlc members are not to direct jw parents to refuse blood for their children any more.. in the past uk doctors could easily get a court order to force jw children to have a blood transfusion.
but the parents always had to refuse completely so that court action almost always took place.

Isn't tlhat so big of them to promise no sanctions on the child? Wow so generous of them. I bet they are treated differently anyway. I wonder how many parents suffer from guilt for secretly wishing the doctors take matters into their own hands and give blood. I would. I felt guilty for blinking too many times as it wasn't "in moderation", not literally of course but I'm sure everyone knows what I mean.

kwijibo, I read your profile and you didn't give an indication as to why you decided to leave. Do you feel like sharing? If not just welcome.
