for you apostate warriers, old and new, take this to heart.
if you are like me, you get discouraged from time to time what with all the noise and fluff floating around.
i can't count the number of times i've asked myself "is this worth the effort?".
It's hard to believe those days of H20 started for me over 11 years ago when I tentatively posted as "J" and was still attending meetings hoping I was wrong about my doubts and personal research. What an education along the way!
Today, I also feel like I am the old fart sitting on his porch in his rocking chair yelling at the neighbourhood kids "Git off my lawn' only to realize I actually enjoy the youthful laughter and fun. Ten years ago it seemed there was the need to expose and stab at the underbelly of the BORG and we did, through H20 and other boards and the phenomenal research of many including Farkel (also known for his sharp tongue/wit), Alan, Kent, Norm and so many others.
But what to do with the old knights once all the dragons have been slain? T'is the time for healing, strengthening, hand holding. Skills not suited to warriors. So today we laud the warriors and loathe them simultaneously. The BORG is destined now for mockery rather than to be feared as it was in past legend. Posters today mock the wounds exposed by the warriors, revel in the tales of the battle and swear to never let people forget the weaknesses of the dragon. The warriors and the tools/weapons used to defeat the feared beast gradually forgotten except in legend and story. Villagers preferring to move on rebuilding lives and recounting the tales and welcoming/supporting newcomers who still live in fear of the dragon.
I miss the battles of old but respect the patience and qualities of those now doing the healing and comforting. Miss ya Doug and thank you and all the old warriors for the battles you fought for your own freedom and for the education of others.
Uzzah - the poster also formerly known as H20 Mod101 and FD2.
advice?
it will be mostly for my daughter, age 11 and she loves horse type games mostly.
the wii looking interesting of course.
I bought myself a Wii in the summer (my b-day present to myself) and love it. Actually am using the boxing game as a quasi-cardio workout.
The game choice is limited compared to the other consoles but there are enough of a range for all tastes. I do like the dynamic remotes (wireless) part of the Wii compared to the sit in one place and only move your thumbs controllers of the other manufacturers. You can sit and use Wii but it is more fun to duck bob and weave for real.
I have a few games collected so far including Medal Of Honour - Vanguard, Second Opion (medical game), Texas Holdem, Madden 2007 (football), heatseeker (pilot/fighter game), and Resident Evil (I haven't tried that one yet).
The local Wal-Marts seem to have a pretty good supply chain coming in. I did try three times however but then spoke with one of the sales gals and she toldd me their delivery dates and stocking schedule, so I was able to get it right off the cart before they even put it on the shelf. If all else fails let me know and I can see if I can pick another one up for you. They are going for $260-270 (CDN) right now.
Good luck and happy gaming

he told me that the thread he started yesterday tell me what you think of certain posters had been locked because some people though the bantering between he and i was serious.
im sorry but i laughed.
a lot.
I somewhat understand the Moderator's decision. Minimus has stirred the pot in the past with some of his questions (intentionally or not only he knows).
He has also taken shots at people (like many of us) so rather than let things go down that path again, they stopped it.
In this instance was laughing my a$$ off at the banter between the two of them. Glad to see other mellowing people over 40 horsing around.

monday, nov 19, 2007 posted on mon, nov. 19, 2007home built on sweat, skill and faithtim funkthe couple from the congo stood quietly sunday, smiling as their new friends showered them with books, blessings, t-shirts -- and a brand new habitat for humanity house.
"first interfaith all-clergy build" read the t-shirts, commemorating a first for charlotte and for the country.
Habitat is somewhat faith based. (note the cross in their logo) Thus supporting it would be considered inter-faith and therefore the reason the JW's avoid them.
I've helped on a couple of builds and Habitat does some excellent work and gives a hand up rather than just hand outs. They do good works motivated by their faith rahter than just preach salvation. Is it any wonder the Dubs avoid them?
i am going to be in reno november 11-14 for a work related conference and will be heading to vegas afterwards for a couple of days.. i remember there being some posters that are from that area.
if you want to meet up for a cold beverage/dinner/coffee let me know.. first time to nevada so am pretty excited about the trip.
nice thing is that work pays for it!.
I am sitting at the Vegas airport awaiting my delayed flight and was pleasantly surprised to find free internet access. (About the only thing in Vegas that's free).
I have really enjoyed the time here in Nevada. Reno was good but got boring quickly. Vegas on the other hand.. DAYYYUM I see now why they say the city never sleeps. I did my best to live up to that too. The shows, the lights, the people, the games. Definitely an experience and a half! I blew far too much money but at least had a lot of fun while doing it.
I was able to get to the grand opening of Planet Holleywood's new hotel/casino. Star studded events, red carpet the whole works.
One of the coolest experiences was the drive from Reno to Las Vegas. I was taking back roads to go through Tahoe and saw a route on the map that seemed a straight line to connect me back to the Interstate. IT ended up being a desert road, unpaved. I thought what the hell. It was 28 miles of desert. Some beautiful hills/canyons and I only saw one other vehicle the entire trip. I'll post some pics from that part of the trip once I get home and upload them.
ahh it looks like they are finally getting ready to board us (1hour 45 minutes late). Pics and more stories to come.

i am not refering to the elders staking out a house to see if you're in there alone with another person who isn't your mate.. .
i am talking about 'regular stalkers' who stalk you for the obsessive psychological reason of needing to be near you physically.. ever been followed?.
ever had the feeling someone was looking through your windows?.
I am back in Ontario Sunday night. If you want/need a "large" presence visible on your property next week video taping passing cars (heh heh) let me know.
i'm this orthodox christian dating a disfellowshipped jw chick.
my priest says there's hope because she's been disfellowshipped and to give it 6 months.
one minute says she wants to become a citizen, the next minute i tell her that if she does that as an american i would expect her to salute the flag and especially vote if she naturalizes, and then she talks about going back to her own country!!.
I hear there is a militia group in the dakotas just looking for recruits. You'd fit in well.
Part of being American (dual citizen here) is respecting the CHOICE and CONSCIENCE of others. You seem intent on forcing yours on someone you claim to love.
Love means accepting the differences and appreciating the person because of the differences. You are either very young or very easily suckered in to propaganda.
I think you'd both be better off alone while you both rethink your belief systems.

greetings my fellow jwd posters.
yes, it's been quite some time since i've graced the on-line pages here.. i think like many people, you get in here "hot & heavy" so-to-speak, and then after awhile, you either grow tired of it; frustrated and well, peoples' reasons to leave or 'take a break' are as long as a roll of charmin (not great for writing on mind you).. quite frankly, i didn't think i'd find myself posting here.
but after a couple of years; the occasional browsing of topics and to see how a few members were doing, i don't mind opening up the door once again periodically and add my two cents worth.. there looks to be many newbies, hell.....i don't even recognize 1/10th of the people posting on here.
RAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great to see you! I so often have thought as I am driving down Spadina I gotta stop in a say hi.
Tried once but you weren't around. Are you still working the same location? If so I will have to come buy and say hello and catch up.
Ray is and always has been one of the good people I think of fondly from my time on these boards. Damn nice to see you tonight!

i got disfelowshiped when i divorced my husband and altho we both went on to have relationships with other people he didn't get disfelowshiped as he wasn't going to meetings.
we have since then got back together and i find it so frustrating that i still get treated like a leper being shunned by his family and all the other witnesses but he still gets invited to dinner and works with them.
i don't want to be best buddys with any of them i just hate it when they cross the road to avoid me .
