I urge everyone here to click on and download from the link in the first post.
Why? So that when the Watchtower check the pages "linked from" statistics they find the number one non-jw.org result is an apostate site.

so as i looked at the material i was struck by a few thoughts about this article.. par.
6 glossed over the idea that we can pray for ourselves, or our needs.
9-11 on one hand they say jesus did not harshly criticize peter or the apostles for falling asleep instead of praying continually, and on the other hand make veiled threats if we should feel tired out by life.
@ Steve2
Well put. Exactly the point I was going to make.
hi all, i joined to learn more about jws.
is it true that you guys believe that jesus is an archangel?
i'm confused on this point..
@ The Searcher
The Bible is an unattributed arbitrarily compiled self-contradicting unscientific historicaly unsound collection of ancient mystical writings supposedly inspired (whatever that means) by a long silent hebrew sky god (who also happens to offer no tangible evidence that he even exists) so why should we care what it says? What makes it so special in comparision to all the hundreds of other ancient mystical writings?
I mean are much translated and open to interpritation 2000+ year old writings the originals of which no longer exist the best way almighty all knowing god, the wisest, most loving and holy creator of everthing that ever was, is or will be could think of to communicate his message? That's just one of the massive logic holes with regards to Christian belief that finally convinced me that Christianity was wrong once I left the JWs.
@ CIPHER7836
Welcome to jehovahs-witness.net. If you're interested in learning about JW doctrine I would say the best place to go is jwfacts.com as it is all but 100% impartial and you won't get any ex-JW now whatever denomination Christian telling you their biblical interpritation is better than the JWs.
However, if you're interested in debating the Bible and Christian beliefs then this is a good place as any.
Rather than any sort of jealousy on her part I think Michelle's expression has more to do with her husband and Helle Thorning-Schmidt larking about in front of the world's press at the worldwide live TV broadcast of the memmorial service for one of the most famous men of the 20th century.
As for a caption, oh I don't know, something Nelson's column maybe?
so im reading "why evokution is true" by coyne and the page im on is talking about darwin and natural selection:.
"but natural selection was also the part of evolutionary theory con- sidered most revolutionary in darwins time, and it is still unsettling to many.
selection is both revolutionary and disturbing for the same reason: it explains apparent design in nature by a purely materialistic process that doesnt require creation or guidance by supernatural forces.

That site you linked to is hilarious, if it were a book I'd buy it it for my "Kooks/Alternative World View/Real Stupid Shit" book shelf.
Safe to say I'm still an atheist after reading about how "on November 13th 3398 B.C. two billion people with astonishing technology (including nuclear weapons and computers) vanished from the Earth after a 6000 foot tidel wave" but thanks for the info anyway.
these two guys that ran over a man and then hacked him to death , shown on cctv where their is absolutely no doubt as to their involvement ?
they should be taken out and shot , no trial ,end of story.and they admit it , trying to use an excuse of warfare or whatever .kill the bastards.. smiddy.
Too execute these two men would be to play into their hands and to lower ourselves to their subhuman level. Rise above it folks and let these two idiots be forgotten by all but their most fundementalist fellow Islamists.
We can not give a government any mandate for a death penalty as this will lead not only to innocent people being executed but also to yet more erosion of our precious human rights.

my novel about jw's at the end of the world has been temporarily discounted by the publisher.
if you have a kindle (or kindle reader on another device) you can get a copy for only 99 cents.
Hi Anthony
Bought and enjoyed this book in paperback about a year ago soon after it came out. It was great and to be honest more than a little upsetting (in a good way, if that makes sense) You don't happen to have finished volumes 2 have you? I'm very much looking forward to reading it.
peace to you!.
this thread is about false things (some) atheists think theists believe.
this is not a thread about false things that atheists think about theists.
I agree with Gother. It is theists who claim "Faith = Moral, Lack of Faith Immoral" I have never heard an atheist say such a thing.
As for your point regarding hell, whether hell is literal or not why would God knowingly create people with full foreknowledge they will not believe in him or meet his moral standards and then punish them for this?
This God person sounds far from "just and mercilful" and it fills my heart with joy and peace to know he does not and can not exist.
manchester evening news (the paper who owns the arena used for assemblies).
"jonathan rose was branded a hypocrite as he was locked up for molesting two little girls he met through the church.. manchester crown court heard that rose, of new moston , won the trust of his victims families before targeting their daughters.
his youngest victim was just five-years-old when she was groped by him in her own home.
@ krejames
"A lot of local papers are owned by big nationals"
Actually as far as local papers go the Manchester Evening News is a biggy. Among many other business interests the Manchester Evening News Group actually owns the nationally distributed Guardian newspaper so there is a chance this story could go national.
your tax money being used by b.o.
(he stinks).
reminds me of saturday night live.. .
Reading this thread I am so glad I don't live in the USA.
The average American's view seems to be "By all means spend my tax money on an unwinnable war in revolting little Muslim theocracy that doesn't even want us there in the first place (Afghanistan in case you need telling) but don't you dare spend it on cancer drugs and kidney transplants for the poorest and most vulnerable people in our own country, especially if it means people can get contreceptive pills"
That's f***ed up, especially as despite having by far the world's most expensive healthcare (both per citizen and over all cost) you have the highest rates of infant mortality and deaths from preventable illness in the developed world.
