Everyone loves Simon, so how about if everyone who has pposted here sends Simon 5 dollars a month via Pay Pal,
I'd be more than happy to do that. Can someone tell me how?

For those who raised children "in the truth"
by berylblue inwhose children have left "the truth".... .
i don't even know where to begin to broach this subject with my daughters (should they ever speak to me again.
they are not witnesses, and were never baptized, they are angry at me for something else).... .

am really interested in knowing what you would have done to appoligize for?
Well, the incident that caused them not to speak to me aside, for not letting them have wordly friends when no one at the hall would talk to them. This only lasted a while (not letting them have worldly friends, I finally gave in when I realized no one at the KH was going to bother with them, despite my efforts). The elders said, "This is not a social club". Yet the WTS says we are not to have worldy friends, and to find friends in the KH.
That's just for starters...
More later.
Rosemarie
And THANKS to all of you!! I will thank you personally later, maybe over the weekend, have some work to do right now.

A good way to make up for the fact that you raised your kids in the truth is to buy them a brand new car. Also pay rent for them so they can make up for lost party time without having to worry about bills. It's also good to regularly invite them over for filet mignon and wine. And don't skimp on the wine. Life is short, buy good wine.
LOL, Irongland. If they were speaking to me, I would invite them over...as far as the car, I don't even have one myself (which kind of makes sense since I've never had a license). Rosemarie

think that some of you need to realize that apologizing is showing them how much you love them. I am never ashamed to apologize to my children when I am wrong. My kids in turn will apologize. It is much healthier
Sheila,Sometimes I think all I do is apologize....to my children (before they stopped talking to me), to my ex husbands, to Jehovah, to Tim, to the friggin' door when I bump into it.....
While I am not above apologizing, sometimes I just get so weary of apologizing to everyone for, basically, just my existence...

Surname Change: your opinions please
by RAYZORBLADE inhey folks.. i have been debating for some time about changing my surname.. as it stands, it's in its typical patriarchial form (my father's surname) and honestly, i'd like to change it to my mother's surname.. i would not deny that my father was my father, but i cannot say that he, or his family have been ever there for me.
my memories of them, for the most part are awful.. my mother is no angel, nor is she perfect, but i do have some connection to that side, and my grandmother (maternal) is my number 1 support person in the family.
when i think back at family that were there for me during rough times, it was relatives on my mom's side.

I have a friend who did just that...changed it from his no-account biological father's name to something which meant a great deal to him. I think he used something called the "common usage" law....you use it for seven years unofficially, then it becomes your real name or something. In California, anyway. Don't know what the laws are in Canada, but I'm sure you can find out. Perhaps do a Yahoo or Google search on legal name change?
I would like to change my given name, actually. I want to keep my last name as a tribute to my step-grandfather who never had children of his own.

RAPE & GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by JT inthese are two words that are truly hard to use in the same sentence- i have had the opportunity to work with rape victims since leaving wt and i is unreal-.
in the old testament the god of the bible requires the woman to scream out, even if no one heards her- now this is an interesting bible verse- .
consider this ---here you have a woman or child who is under divine judgement to scream even if no one heards them in the village.

The WTS once used an example of a parent letting a child go through a painful operation in order to save the child's life.
This was to show why God lets us go through bad things: for our own good. The point was stressed that, as parents, we sometimes let our children take false steps in order to teach them a lesson.
However...........I can't recall the last time I let my child be raped in order to teach her to rely more on my advice (being older and more experienced), that she couldn't "even direct her own steps".
There are methods other than allowing a person to be badly hurt to "teach them a leson"....I wonder why the creator and owner of the Universe can't come up with a better way to show his creations that we can not be independent of him?
A frigging slide show would do in most cases....Gimme a break. If I used such "lessons" to teach my children, the state would have taken them from me long ago.
Genuinely perplexed,
Rosemarie
