I NEED SOME HELP FOR A FRIEND.......
by Mary ini'm really concerned about a close friend of mine.
she and her husband stopped going to the meeting about 10 years ago (that's not why i'm concerned) but remained pretty low-keyed up until about the last year.
we've obviously talked at great length about the religion and how it screwed us royally and have even had some laughs over it (i've shown her some of my posting here and she's roared with laughter).. a few years ago, she got a tatoo because she always wanted one and of course couldn't while she was a dub.

I really want to help her stop this horrible habit, but I'm not sure what I can do
I started smoking again at 39. I know all the arguments. Nothing could have stopped me.
There's nothing you can do, please trust me on this one.

I am tired of thinking like a victim....
by Ravyn ini may have to cut back on my forum reading.
this is getting discouraging.
everyone knows the problem, feels the problem, but very few want to act on the problem.

Your point is well taken, Robyn, but I am really too physically, emotionally and intellectually weak right now to do much of anything but hold a mindless job, clean, and shop on ebay.
I do whine,
I'm sorry.,I know.Rosemarie

NG, you do have quite a sense of humor, and a great deal of intelligence as well....you're actually pretty cool (for a Witness ); wish I'd known you when I was "in".

SYN Gets Paid A Visit! By The Dubs!
by SYN in*begin jaws music*.
yesterday i got visited by the dubs!
" then he said, only jehovah can judge the heart etc., you know, the usual inconsequential drivel all witnesses must spout when faced with this very important question, so i said, "so all those people are going to die then?".

berylblue : The quot you just put up aren't my words. I never did mention when I started smoking, relative to being a witness.
Your reason for smoking is as unique to as my reason is to me, and I've already said enough on that.
Oh, I'm sorry, I should have made it clear...I'm so dimwitted at times....didn't mean to offend, NG, honest

NG,
I can't find the post where you said what would have been the incentive to quit smoking if you had been reinstated without quitting first, without the discipline of being DF (sorry to paraphrase)....
The incentive should always be love, acceptance and assistance of fellow Christians.
We're talking smoking here, an addiction, not murder.
Do you really think you've done something as evil as murder? Or better yet, pedophilia?
You're out, and hurting, meanwhile the peds are still in.What's wrong with this picture?
RosemarieNot to be harsh, I do feel for you a great deal. I was DF for smoking, and it doesn't feel good; at one point in time, I would have done anything to get back (except quit smoking, obviously...lol and now I realize why I didn't....) While I believe one should "never say never", I don't see how, at this point in time, knowing what I know now, in no small part due to Simon's board and the people here, I could ever go back.

When or if I get reinstated I certainly will have to curb my natural curiosity and kiss the internet good bye
Respectfully, NG, don't you see something terribly wrong with the above statement? Just why should you have to curb your natural curiosity? Jehovah, the owner of the Universe, would never ask such from you. At least, I don't think he would do so.
Truth should be able to withstand someone's mere curiosity, In my experience, generally, if a person is telling the truth, s/he is never afraid of what others may find out.

You were a JW in good standing. Then you began smoking. I wonder why? Demons
I'll tell you why I did...subconsciously, I wanted out. I didn't realize it at the time, but I am certain that was the reason now.

JGnat's comments on WT May 15, 2003 Christ Speaks to the Congregations
by jgnat inwt may 15, 2003 christ speaks to the congregations study june 29, 2003
here we study about the seven stars talked about in revelation 2, whom the article states logically denote spirit-anointed overseers, or bodies of elders.
* in revelation 2, the seven congregations are alternatively complimented for their strength, and slammed for their areas of weakness.

And now, in one resounding, unified accord we get the real message of the WTS from the mouth of babes: “HATE!”
Jehovah's Witnesses truly are the most loving people on earth.
