Don't rely on 1 John 5:7, I've heard it's not included in many bibles because of some reason, just the King James has it. Not that I am against the post, I am actually for it, just that some people might try to prove you wrong with that text... I think...

Doubting the Trinity and Paradise
by ClassAvenger ini don't doubt the trinity, but again i had a talk with one of my jw friends and he gave me several bible passages which he wants me to explain, most deal with the trinity, and others deal with the belief in heaven.
he says that they show that jesus was less than his father, and was a separate person, and the others state that paradise will be here on earth.
argument: how come no one has seen god, not even jesus?

I don't doubt the Trinity, but again I had a talk with one of my JW friends and he gave me several bible passages which he wants me to explain, most deal with the Trinity, and others deal with the belief in heaven. He says that they show that Jesus was less than his Father, and was a separate person, and the others state that paradise will be here on earth. The versicles he uses are not that complicated to be explained, but I am weak on the scriptures, and need a lot of help. Sorry if some things or explanations are not clear enough, ask if you didn't understand what I meant. I'm going to list them here:
Trinity
- Matthew 24:36: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. My comment: His argument here was for me to explain that not even Jesus knows when the second coming will be, only God. He says how come if Jesus is God, he doesn't know when it will be.
- John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent. My comment: He said that how come Jesus was sent by God, how could God send God?
- II Corinthians 1:20-21: For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God.
- John 16:23: And in that day ye shal ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Argument: How come Jesus says he will give it to you, if Jesus himself is God?
- Colossians 1:15: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Argument: How come Jesus was firstborn of every creature, that means that he is not eternal.
- John 1:18: No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Argument: How come no one has seen God, not even Jesus?
- Matthew 3:17: And lo a voice from heaven saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Argument: How could God be talking to God?
- 1 John 2:23: Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Argument: Why are they shown as two separate entities?
- John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Argument: How come Jesus is saying that no one can come to the Father, but by him, if they are two separate persons.
- II Corinthians 1:3: Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Argument: Explain how God is Father of everything, including Jesus.
- Luke 22:41-44: And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed. Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Argument: How come Jesus is asking God for it to be his Father's will, and not his, if Jesus is God?Heaven on Earth
- Psalms 37:11: But the meek shall inherit the earth: and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Argument: How come we believe in heaven if the bible says that the meek will inherit the earth?
- Matthew 5:5: Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Yes, he already answered back to me saying that 1 John 5:7 was something added later and that many agreed that it was not an authentic versicle. Can anyone explain the addition of that text to me?

DID JESUS LOSE HIS FAITH?
by plmkrzy inin god?.
jesus spent close to 20 years convincing people he was the savior and the son of god.. .
he did such a good job of it that 2,000 years later a large portion of the world still believes it.. .

Most of the time I sleep in church accidentally, I sleep really late at night, so whatever I say don't take it against me. But, in my opinion, Jesus still felt like a man, he felt pain and fear of dying. Not dying itself, but the pain that he had to go through, and therefore he said what he said. We have to remember that it was a really painful torture to be on the cross. It's like most Christians, we don't fear death because we believe that we will go to heaven, just like those suicide bombers in Israel think they will go to heaven and have I dont know how many virgins and stuff, but we still fear death itself, not what is after it, but what we feel while we die.

Mass Suicide Alert.
by refiners fire init seems that the anti cult world is extremely concerned at the moment about a group called "project portal" in brazil.
apparently there are hundreds of members and extensive defections are taking place at the moment, and the group leader, one urandir olivera, is being 'persecuted'extensively by the media.
cult watchers are drawing parallels with jonestown in that they fear olivera may lead his loyal followers in a collective 'beaming up'.

Lol, what's the point of the freaking guy in making his own cult? Just wasting time. Maybe he needs attention or was really bored. Needed to amuse himself for a while. Let's say they mass suicide, will the leader tell them that he will be the last one to suicide just to be sure that everyone followed the ritual? Hehehe, I wonder how many would fall for that one.

Hi guys, im on a time budget here. A JW friend of mine is trying to prove that I have a wrong, twisted bible full of errors and added scriptures. I have a King James bible, and he has the NWT of course. He is also giving me the chance to prove to him that his bible is wrong. Does anyone know of any errors in the NWT that can be proven just by reading their bible?

My philosophy paper on leaving the JWs...
by logansrun inyesterday i found a disk i had forgotten i still had.
it contained a paper i had written for a philosophy class i took last summer -- just about a month and a half after leaving the jws.
it's not the greatest treatise in the world and, today, i would have written it differently.

Excellent paper. I admire your courage, God bless you and keep moving.

He died on a cross
by ClassAvenger indo any of you ex-jehovah witnesses still believe that jesus died on a stake, or a cross?
-
ClassAvenger
Yeah, it sounds like a dumb question, but I just wondered. I've never been a JW, but I wanted to know if ex-JWs rejected this doctrine or learned differently and accepted it. Just a doubt, and yeah, the important thing is that he died for our sins.
