Hey guys, I haven't been around in a while and it's nice to be back. I have some questions that have been bothering me, and I need some help. I am a Christian and I have been witnessing to a JW, yet there is one strong hard question which I have trouble answering. Why did God create the Earth if (like I believe) we are going to end up in Heaven? What was his purpose in creating the Earth? How come we end up in heaven? If you can, please provide Bible verses. I haven't studied eschatology that much, but I am planning to. Thank you for the information.

Born again actually should be translated 'born from above", but its basically the same thing. Whatever you want to call it. The point is that when a person accepts Christ as their savior and place their trust in him, the Holy Spirit comes and indwells in him, and now he is born again. The old things have passed and he is a new creature. The Spirit will change him according to God's purpose and will use him to spread his Word. The Holy Spirit seals the person as one of God's sons and indwells in him forever. So, the answer for your question is yes, in order to be a Christian you have to be born again. True Christians are those who have faith, they automatically receive the Spirit of God. You do not have to be baptized to be born again. It is just a way of showing your obedience to God and that you will follow Him. Jesus said that in order to be born from above you have to be born from the water and from the Spirit. The water does not mean baptism, thats the Roman Catholic church interpretation of this passage and so they baptize all the children when they are born. To be born from water is to receive God's grace. The water symbolizes His grace for us, look at Ezekiel 36:25. It is a metaphorical sense of the word. God bless you.
There are actually some books that are given online at no cost, just enter your address and they are ordered to you. Maybe they might be of some help. Notice: they aren't booklets, but books. Around 350 pages long. You can order a max of two. Lol, im not trying to advertise here. Just saying, I recently ordered some. Enjoy.www.bjnewlife.org

How important is the Devil to God?
by Narkissos ina few days ago, on the thread about ?a new view of the trinity?, rubadub voiced his disappointment as to the lack of any really new view, such as a fourth member who could turn it into a quadrinity or replace any of the members of the trinity in case of emergency.
at the moment i just laughed, but later on i thought the devil could be a very good candidate.
just think: under the influence of persian dualism, shortly after yhwh, the god of ancient israel, became god in the absolute sense (say in the 6th century bc, with second isaiah), satan (from a common hebrew noun meaning ?opposer?

Save some money and take a trip to the Bahamas. Enjoy life. (btw, you don't have to go there to enjoy life, but it'll help a lot to get over your depression. It would work for me.)

Why does God create abominations?
by CPiolo inmany religious folks, including fundamentalists, moderates and liberals, from a multitude of faiths, including jehovah?s witnesses, claim that homosexuals, bisexuals and trans-gendered individuals are abominations in the eyes of god.
they believe these people are sinners of the worst sort, that their behavior is a perversion, is evil, dangerous and a threat to society, the family and/or ?family values.?
these poor souls are going to be punished in some way by god for their choices and behavior ?

What SanFranciscoJim said is true, it is not a choice which people can decide. God made us either man or woman. I had never thought about it in that light.
Paduan, to cut off the hand doesn't mean to literally do it, although the Jews follow this literally. It means to practice rigid self-denial and to have complete control over your body, so that this sin won't lead to impure desires and make the person stumble on his faith. When read in context, the verse is talking about how we should not desire a woman and have complete control over ourselves. Self-mutilation is a sin. The other verse doesn't mean that you have to give up everything you have in order to be a disciple, but to put God first over all that you have. If you must leave your riches, family, or whatever you have to follow Him, then so be it.
Phantom Stranger, I believe God works in mysterious ways and I am no one to challenge or question his decisions or acts. God can do whatever he wants whenever he pleases, he is GOD. Oh, and by the way, that phrase in my profile is from the movie The Patriot. It's awesome isn't it?

Jwbot, I do not see where in the Bible God hates on women. I don't believe he created women inferior to men, but I do believe he made women equal to men and put men as their head.
