An elder still brings the mags to me. Last week I brought up UN involvement and told him of this website. He acted surprised. He even took the printout of Randy's UN info to my surprise. His wife wasn't happy. I told my wife he will either get in trouble with the info or a couple of elders will show up on my doorstep to ask me if I believe the Borg is God's sole channel. Keep you informed of developments. I really have love and caring for this couple.

Borg monitoring of this board
by core inare the borg still monitoring this board (and others)?
if so they seem to be allowing a large amount of time before taking any retributive action.
has anyone heard of any follow thru from the borg from being identified here recently?

Did your Elders Have Any Weird Private Ideas or Teachings?
by Perry inok, we all know how all private ideas are quashed in the borg.
but, all that lobotimizing does have its effects that come out sometimes.
we were studying the paradise book i think and the elder said he couldn't understand how people thought they'd get bored living forever.

One elder thought I should sell the Super Bowl tickets (50 yard line) I had won and donate the money to the Kingdom Hall.

Interesting quotes about belief in God
by cruzanheart ini'm reading dan brown's book "angels & demons," which is kind of a prequel to "the davinci code," and i'd like to see what you all think of these quotes:.
"i did not ask if you believe what man says about god.
i asked if you believed in god.

Similar feelings. The most convnincing evidence for me is the design of the universe. So many books and exposes I've read present odds that are beyond question that the universe was created to harbor intelligent life. The values of the electro-weak, the strong force, and gravity for example. The arrangement of a moon to give stability to the earth's orbit, on and on. This place was created by an intelligent being.

A Secret about DF'ing that Elders will not tell you.
by Amazing inone of the big issues affecting ex-jws is being shunned by their close relatives.
this can be especially painful for parents, children or siblings.
the jw relative may even make some exceptions to associate in the name of "necessary" business, but then later on their conscience "pricks" them, and they realize that they have pushed the envelope too much and they withdraw their association altogether ... or ... the society comes out with some article or the co comes to town, and manage to ding on some issue that make jws feel guilty about associating with df'd and da'd relatives.

Faithful & Discreet Slave - NEW LIGHT
by Black Man inok........has anybody been hearing rumors about new light on the faithful and discreet slave teaching?
i recently talked to one of my ex-bethel buddies and he said that an adjustment has been in the works for awhile now and that the new light for the fds will be that they will receive their appointment before the great tribulation and that they didn't receive it at 1918-19 as previously taught.
their works (global preaching work, worldwide growth, etc) up until the point of the great tribulation will show that they have been faithful and discreet in caring for the lord's interests and worthy of "official" appointment before the end comes.

They could say they were recently appointed (discarding the 1918-19 date). And start all over again. "Time will tell ...... of Stars that fell .... a million years ago........ memories can never take you back " Moody Blues

Did you really believe?
by barbar ini am interested to know whether jw's or ex jw's on this board really did believe 100%.
did you have doubts all of the time, did you have some confusion or did you never doubt at all?
i recognise that most on this board will have had doubts at the end but was this always the case when you were a good dub?

I believed it all. I had doubts but thought they were my own lack of faith. Some things just didn't line up. It was a stretch to believe in the 2520 years in Daniel, the "two witnesses in the broad way", only baptized publishers in good standing will survive, on and on. Saw a documentary on tv about failed prophecies of wtbs. Ordered the book "100 years of watchtower errors" which was great because it mostly just contains their quotes and came here. Once I got to this board it was like "I SEE THE LIGHT". That was all it took. After I finished kicking myself I read Crisis of Conscience, Gentile Times Revisited, In Search of Christian Freedom, Sign of Last Days- When? and much more and still readin and branchin' out to others' testimonies, research, etc. Welcome and thank you.

Having It Both Ways?--A Defining Characteristic
by blondie ini was reading on another website and found this post.
the poster said i could post it here.
it shows why it is hard to reason with anyone in the organization.. when individuals leave the organization for conscience reasons, it is evidence that god is shepherding and protecting the flock by doing a sifting work.

Blondie, thanks for the quote. Perry, thank you for the imagination. You have the truth now. You must be hurting over your losses. Please be patient and hope for those you lost. You have exposed the emperor's new clothes and the 'matrix' they live in. Sincerely, Carlton

What do the 'Pillars of the Congregation' think of new light
by Gadget ini was reading a post on another thread about a 70yr old sister who's husband was a pillar of the circuit in times past now just drowned out most of what she heard from the platform as someones personal oppinion and served jehovah the way she felt was right.
is this typical of someone who has been in the org for that long, the difference being that she felt comfortable enough with the people concerned to actually voice it?
what about the people who joined in the 20s and 30s and have seen all the new light coming in over the years, has any asked them how different it all is now to the religion they joined?.
-

The old ones (80 plus) just keep saying that they never thought it was going to go on this long. Remember that pillars are all you have left after the roof comes crashing down. They are a silent testimony to what once was
Excellent analogy. One could almost write a song with the terminology. Thanks

I've just had a Jcanon moment........it's all so very clear................
by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. inin a moment of deep contemplative spirtual reflection (as in a mini micro second) it occured to me (perhaps driven by the holy spirit to be found in a bottle of johnnie walker blue label) that the time of the end has been revealed to me - is so simple to determine, yet hidden from the masses of unbelieving heathens aka the rest of mankind.. i am sure the right reverend canon will support me with this simple expose of bible chronology.. six thousand years of man's existence on the earth ended in 1975, but still not the time of the end, 'cause we didn't know how long it was before god became fed up with adam's fooling around with the animals (disgusted i should well imagine) and decided to give him a mate in his likeness.
goodness knows things would have been simpler if he had have put tits on a mans back.. since we know that the israelites determined that a man was not suitable for marriage until thirty years of age, then it is only right that eve was not given to adam until he was thirty.
1975 plus 30 years = (holy shit) 2005. the end is nigh!.
