I left the because I didn't believe any of it, and never had.
I am also gay. My JW family like to think this prevented me ever believing. I'm not df/da, just stopped.
how many cases are there of people leaving the jw organization or being df'ed because they decided to be gay?
is it common?
i haven't heard of many cases, but i also haven't researched a whole lot.. .

there is a guy at work that i had heard was a jw, so i was working with him and we had a few laughs talking and joking around so i was starting to pry and get it out of him that he was a jw, also i had heard a few things and wanted to ask him as well.
so i asked what he did for christmas and he avoided the question and then i said, "oh yeah your a jehovahs witness" and he said he was, right after he said "but i got some good presents" (admitting your a jw seemed to be awkward for him) as he is the only jw in his family.
i told him that my parents were as well and my grandparents went to the same hall as he did many years ago.
Ditto what Euph and Blondie say. Sounds like he's unlikely to be holding any 'privileges' for him to lose. Apart from answering. ugg!
the person in question is my husband's mother who is a jw.
she is in her late 40s... has been a devout dub for 20 years or so, and has never to my knowledge had any spiritual "problems".
she exhibits every characteristic that the typical rank-and-file should have.
Hi SLM
It's interesting because a friend and I often talk about the high incidence of M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome amongst JWs. Illness is the legitimate way of stopping pioneering or leaving bethel, staying off meetings or field service. My friend works in adolescent mental health and has seen a number of children that come from strict religious families who have M.E.
For those who have M.E. or C.F.S I'm not suggesting that they are purely psychsomatic disorders but that mental well being/stress play a part in the condition.
i am brand new here.
just browsing so far though makes me think that i may be spending a lot of time with you guys.
in searching for info i stumbled across this board because i have just run into a problem with the witnesses.
It sounds to me like you may be dealing with an inexperienced body of elders that feel you should be disfellowshipped as proof of a scriptural divorce. I'd go with the verbal threat of legal action. I'd been out for 2 years when I had some elders start harrassing me and they were scared off when they heard I was considering taking legal action.
I hadn't planned to frighten them, it was the xJW grapevine that reached them, and I subsequently discovered via my JW mother that it was this that had stopped the hunt. She thought it a clever move on my part but it was accidental. Tell the elders via your ex-wife that you'll take legal action if they pester you again.
he told my husband ?i don?t care, i just need to know is this the truth or not?
i just don?t understand why.
once again i was asked a question that i could not answer.
It is a very well written letter.
Isn't there some danger in posting it here that it could be read by someone from Mordor Patterson? The background info could put him in an awkward position and affect their response (Elder Swat team).
He sounds so genuine that I'd hate to hear he got mashed.
desert island discs is a uk radio show which has been running since 1942. the idea was to interview personalities who would become "castaways".
they would be sent to a desert island with a choice of 10 pieces of music (and the means to play them), 1 piece of literature (excluding the bible or the works of shakespeare) and the choice of taking 1 luxury item.. so let's play!.
my 10 musical choices:.
You're cheating by taking albums!
it always takes at least 2 witnesses to accuse a brother of wrong doing.
if there is only one witness, it's the word of one against the other.
but if there is a camera that films the wrong doing, could this camera be like a second witness, or does it have to be like the bible says, minimum of 2 witnesses to accuse.
There was this one brother i kew of who was smoking and had been seen repeatedly by individuals but had always got away under the 2 witness rule. Eventually he was seen smoking by a brother who was carrying a camera and was dfed as a result of the photographic evidence. He was a litlle tosser too.
hi guys, men, former-elders:.
the last leg of the legal project is afoot.
it is good, no gooder, no great!!!.
Me too.
.
does anyone have any tips how to resign as a jw elder without being disfellowshipped or disassociated?.
thanks.. ken
Tell the PO you're depressed. Give it a few weeks then tell him you resign, no need to put it in writing. That's what I did 2 1/2 years ago.
Good luck.
.
ayn rand is mine.
just wondering so i can find a new book or books to read *smiles*.
